By Toni on October 21st, 2008 in Dreamhost
We already know that DreamHost has gone green — now they want to “Save the Environment Harder!”
In a recent blog post, DreamHost announced a plan to reduce their data center power usage by 50%:
Basically, we’ve come to realize that if we were to upgrade all our old web and file servers onto new hardware (the stuff we’ve been using since May), we could probably cut our data center power usage about 50%.

The DreamHost blog says there has been some hiccups in migrating to the new servers. And are offering customers who volunteer to move their accounts to the new system a free upgrade to unlimited bandwidth and disk space — forever.
Check out the “billing” section your DreamHost web panel for more information and to volunteer to be moved to the new system.
