  1. Is it me, or are registrar companies who charge for Transferring out really mean?

It should really be illegal, and I know that nominet supposedly 'ban' it and protect user rights, but lets face it, they do bugger all most of the time.

  2. Nominet charge £10 themselves for transfers. Have you had issues with a particular registrar?

BTW, for our American readers, Nominet handle .co.uk / org.uk domain registrations.

  3. Freeola, I think they use a sub company of theirs to register it - I was transferring out for a customer.

It never looks good when you transferring a domain for a customer to make it cheaper for them, then have to explain well, its going to cost you more!!

  4. Interesting. I think it underlines why choice of domain registrar is so critical (my thoughts are here).

  5. I've got a good working relationship with the guys at Nominate (yes, nate not net). When you ring up, you can get straight though to the owners of the company who will sort any issues out straight away.

One of the best and healthiest reasons to change registrars.

I think NetSol charge $60 for transferring.

    http://namecheap.com - $0.

  7. Ditto Moniker, they also offer financing to move all your domains to them. But as vkw91 says, the rules for .UK domains are different.
