I have read the entire wikipedia page about cloud hosting, and to me, it looks just like a VPS. What makes a cloud server different from a VPS server? What makes it better?
This whole cloud thing isn't making any sense to me.

The difference is really small. VPS hosting is when one master server is virtually split, where as cloud hosting is a cluster of physically seperate servers.

As talicy says the difference is in the physical 'boxes'. You can divide up a single computer (server) into multiple, Virtual Servers.
If you use separate physical 'boxes' you can benefit from different geography and timezones. This means when your server is backing up, you will use a mirror (cloned version of your server) in another location.
If you take the Amazon model, they have servers worldwide, which localises traffic according to when the most active buyers are online. During the quiet periods, they will backup their ENTIRE system to ensure service continuity. On that sort of scale, it wouldn't be possible to effectively use ONLY VPS (Virtual Private Server).
The other major advantage, is reducing the possibility of attacks by those with bad intent. If they can access one portion of a VPS, the possibility exists to get to your portion if the hosting company is not actively looking out for it. With separate hardware, different details give another level of protection (e.g. Serial Numbers of Hard Drives)
