I've always hosted all my sites in the US. I now need UK hosting for a small project, and wanted to hear recommendations for budget shared hosting in the UK. Love to hear other's experiences. Any recommendations?

I've only used one UK shared host and that is eUKHost. It's the basic plan on a Windows box for a client who needed ASP (ugh!). The company seems ok; tech support was responsive when I needed them. I don't like using the account, but that's probably because it's Windows and I'm a Linux guy!

I have used eUKHost and they seem basically sound although I hate the Plesk interface (so clunky and slow) and, unless I'm missing something, they unable to cope with taking a payment subscription and I have to manually pay them each month and have had interruptions of service several times where I haven't logged in to make the payment.
I have also used Catalyst2 a fair bit and the budget deal of one domain for £12/year is pretty decent. Over the years, there's been the occasional lapse which has annoyed me but the support is quick and personable (although I think it's support by email and forum only for budget packages).

I'm no fan of Plesk, but it looks like eUKhost are now offering cPanel on their cheapo basic package. Heard good things about them from a few people, so might give them a shot for this project.

Eukhost is fine, i was also with them. I hope you will be satisfied with them. Problems often come but since you have a small project i don't think you will be having problems with them
@rob: plesk is only if you want to buy windows hosting else you will be getting cpanel only.Posted 2 years ago # -
@Webmidas, eukhost have been great so far. Very cheap package, instant activation etc. No complaints so far. Plesk is not Windows only, I've (reluctantly) used it myself on a Linux box.

Fasthosts are UK based, and aren't too bad. If you need tech support, you need to make it clear that you know what your doing, and then they'll listen to you, but they aren't half bad....most of the time...

I quite like JustHost, who offer both US and UK hosting. Have only been with them a week or so but for the time being I am really happy with the service. As said above, eukhost seem to be a fair web hosting option.

Quick update on Eukhost - had some bad downtime issues recently on their shared hosting plan, as well as very sluggish server response when it was online. Will be looking elsewhere if it continues.
