Review Your Host and Get a Free Domain!
Do you have a website? If so, you must also purchase hosting somewhere. And we'd like to know what you think about your web host. In fact, we are so interested that we will give you a free domain if you write a review for us.
We think our hosting reviews are the best out there — and we want more of them! So we're offering free domains to encourage you.
How to Get a Free Domain
Getting a free domain is really quite easy. There are a few details that we discuss below, but mostly it is just a matter of writing a review of your web hosting company.
It's easiest to think about it like writing a comment on a blog. It's an opportunity to express yourself — and get a free domain in the process! You just have to tell us about your host and what's good and bad about it.
We have partnered with Domain.com for this purpose. So we have a load of vouchers for free website domains that we are eager to give away in exchange for a web host review.
Read on to find out how to get your own...
Who We Are
First, maybe you're wondering who we are and why we'd give away free domain registrations.
It all has to do with our passion for helping people like you find the best web hosting.
WhoIsHostingThis.com launched in 2007 with a simple but accurate tool that tells you which web host is behind any site on the web. Just plug in the domain, and we'll tell you who's hosting it.
Since then, we've evolved into the #1 online resource for webmasters. We've added tons more resources and interesting content like...
- Comprehensive resources for webmasters
- A frequently updated blog to help you stay informed — and entertained
- Coupons for hosting to help you save money while running your business.
But our favorite feature is our honest, unbiased reviews of hosting providers from users just like you. So we're offering our users a free domain for qualifying reviews.
How to Submit Your Hosting Review and Get a Free Domain
We've tried to keep this simple and easy, but we do have a few firm-but-fair rules, including:
- You must provide your first and last name.
- We only publish high-quality reviews of at least 50 words.
- Reviews must be unique and your own work.
- Only reviews of certain hosts are eligible (use the search tool below).
- We reserve the right to reject any review for any reason.
Remember: we're running this promotion because we want more hosting reviews. We're looking to publish as many as possible — which means the more vouchers we give away, the better!
There's an FAQ below if you have more questions, and the full Terms & Conditions are at the bottom of this page. Please read these Terms & Conditions before submitting a review — they aren't the usual yadda, yadda, yadda; they're straightforward, and you agree to be bound by them on submission.
You should find the answers to any questions you have here. In not, feel free to contact us.
What counts as a high-quality review?
We don't publish junk reviews like, "OMG! Host X totally sucks!" Your review can be positive or negative, so long as it's truthful and explains why you think your hosting company sucks or rocks or falls somewhere in between.
The good news: we publish more reviews than we reject. Be sure to read all the guidelines on this page to ensure you have the best chance of getting a voucher.
How long does my review have to be?
Your review must be at least 50 words in order to qualify for our promotion.
What is Domain.com?
Domain.com is one of the top names in web hosting and domain registration. They specialize in affordable domain registration as well as shared and VPS hosting, SSL certificates, and web design and marketing services.
Be sure to visit Domain.com to learn more about the company.
Is the domain registration free for life?
No, the voucher is for one free domain for one year. After that, you'll have to renew it yourself at Domain.com's regular rates.
Is the domain really 100% free, or do I have to buy something?
Yes, it's really 100% free! You don't need to buy web hosting to go along with it, or any other service.
Why do I need to provide a credit card number?
Domain.com requires credit card information to be entered for any new account. Your credit card will not be charged until it's time for your domain registration to be renewed after your free year. Your domain registration will automatically renew at the end of the year unless you cancel. Check out Domain.com's FAQ for more details on how domains are renewed, and how you can cancel.
When are Domain.com vouchers sent out?
Domain vouchers are not sent immediately. Domain.com vouchers will be sent in bulk at the start of the month after your review is published. So if we publish a review in May that qualifies, you'd receive your voucher in June.
Do the vouchers expire?
Yes, they expire a month after they are issued, so be sure to claim your free domain quickly!
What happens after I submit my review?
Once you submit your review, it'll await moderation by our editors. We typically publish new reviews once per month.
We'll contact you by email to tell you if your review has been published. It will include details on how to claim your Domain.com domain name, too. Easy!
Can I submit a review I've already published elsewhere?
No, your review must be 100% original and unique in order to qualify for this promotion. If you've already published your review on your own website, another review site, or anywhere else online, we can't accept it.
How many reviews can I submit for a free domain?
You can submit as many reviews as you like, as long as they follow the guidelines here, but only one free domain name may be claimed per person. But we may publish multiple reviews if you submit them.
Can I appeal if my review is rejected?
Unfortunately, due to the large volume of reviews we receive, we can't take time to debate our decisions. Our judgment on all submitted reviews is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the decision.
How do the vouchers work?
The Domain.com vouchers are valid on any non-premium domains with these TLDs:
The vouchers are good up to the value of $10.99 (most of these domains cost $10.99 or less).
Can I use my voucher towards another TLD?
No, this voucher can only be used for the TLDs listed (.com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us). You can't apply its value toward the purchase of any other TLDs.
How do I know if the domain I want is available?
You can search for your desired domain at Domain.com to find out if it's available for you to register.
What is a premium domain?
The most popular TLD has always been .com, so many of the most short, easy to remember, and brandable domain names are already taken. However, some of these already-registered domains are for sale by the owner, and Domain.com can provide access to many of these domains and sellers to offer these domains at a variety of price points. Because these domains are rare and valuable, they're not available to purchase with a free domain voucher.
Can I use my voucher towards my domain renewal at Domain.com?
No, these vouchers are for new domain registrations only.
Can I use the voucher to transfer an existing domain to Domain.com for free?
No, the voucher is only valid for registering a brand new domain.
Can I apply the voucher towards Domain.com's other services?
No, the voucher can't be applied towards hosting, web design, or other services provided by Domain.com.
What if I have more questions or need help with my voucher?
If you have further questions that aren't answered here, please contact us — not Domain.com.
