A2Hosting is the best I've came across so far based on tons of testings and deployments around (I've benched up to 10 providers before)

I would recommend A2 hosting to anyone out there. My site was experiencing some issues until i was told that it was an overloading error. Thanks to the guys at the A2 hosting they corrected the problem by removing a bad wp plugin embedded in my site, My site is bug-free right now. I didn't have a clue on how to do this myself. A2 Hosting Introduction

A2 Hosting is a web hosting provider which focuses on providing hosting ‘by developers, for developers’. Originally named Iniquinet in August 2001, it was renamed in 2003 and appears to be privately owned. The company is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan (hence the ‘A2’ name). Its datacenter is close by.

Hosting Plans

A2 Hosting isn’t a normal shared hosting provider. For example, it provides multiple versions of PHP with an easy-to-use version switcher. The company’s also very keen to promote its green credentials: it has partnered with Carbonfund.org and promotes remote working, recycling and car sharing.

Hosting is provided in four categories: shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS hosting and dedicated hosting.

  • Shared hosting is based on an unlimited resource model with a low monthly fee, although the lowest cost comes with a long 36-month contract attached. A2 Hosting uses CloudLinux only. Customers can code their own sites or use Softaculous and/or a site building tool. The company promises that companies that outgrow a shared environment will receive assistance with upgrades if they need a VPS or dedicated server in the future.
  • There are three reseller plans available: Deliver, Achiever and Endeavor, and each steps up the storage and transfer. The lowest cost plan, Deliver, offers 60 GB storage and 600 GB transfer; the most expensive, Endeavor, offers 130 GB and 1300 GB respectively. Resellers can host unlimited client accounts.
  • VPS hosting is split into managed and unmanaged products. VPS packages can be custom-designed by the client and include a choice of Linux OS and A2 Hosting’s own A2 QuickInstaller, a tool which installs common scripts and applications with a click. The managed product is more expensive, as you’d expect, and includes management of software, hardware, network and security.
  • Dedicated hosting is available in two flavors: Flex and Managed Flex. The Flex plan is designed for developers and experts, whereas Managed Flex is designed to be hassle-free and user-friendly. On Managed Flex, cPanel is included for free.

Uptime/Downtime

All of A2 Hosting’s clients get free access to Server Rewind for free. It’s a completely custom backup tool which is accessible via cPanel and provides customers with restore points for files and databases.

The company proudly claims that its servers are privately owned, and only its own technical team will access them. Its data center is located in Michigan and boasts a redundant network, uninterrupted power, diesel generators, static-free floors, air conditioning and SSAE16 certified security: that includes a gated parking lot and key-operated entry to the premises and servers.

A2 Hosting operates a 99.9% uptime guarantee, and it’s very open about its past performance. Each type of server - shared, reseller, VPS and dedicated - has its own uptime figure which is updated in real time on a statistics page. Figures cover the last 30 days, and each individual server’s uptime is published individually. That’s pretty impressive.

Support

A2 Hosting’s technical support department is based in the US, and its website claims that all staff are developers. That might be why it refers to them as the ‘Guru Crew’. The team is available 24/7 every day of the year and tend to work from home as part of the company’s green strategy.

Support is provided via ticketing, a live chat box and a toll-free phone line for US customers. International customers have access to a regular US phone number. The company has a Twitter account which is mainly used for service updates; customers looking for support are directed back to the ticketing system.

Control Panel

All of A2 Hosting’s shared hosting customers receive access to cPanel 11 as standard. Resellers get the standard combination of cPanel and WHM. Customers on managed VPS and dedicated plans receive cPanel free; unmanaged servers don’t come with any software installed, as you would expect.

A2 Hosting Extras

A2 Hosting offers shared and reseller hosting customers a variety of scripts through Softaculous (WordPress, Joomla etc), plus their own in-house DIY A2 SiteBuilder tool. Customers also get a free site builder (rebrandable on Reseller plans) and CloudFlare CDN. VPS and dedicated plans also come with one or two free IP addresses. There are no marketing credits or free domains on offer at the time of writing this review.

Money Back Guarantee / Cancellation Policy

All hosting customers are able to rely on a 30-day money-back guarantee. The company promises that refunds are ‘hassle-free’. The policy only covers monthly instalments, and customers who pay by check are not eligible for refunds. The policy also doesn’t cover custom server configurations, which could affect VPS and dedicated customers.

A2 Hosting is a company that’s targeted a niche and done it well. The light-hearted tone of the website is refreshing: it makes prospective clients feel like they’re buying from peers rather than a faceless corporation. The only thing hurting A2 is their support "Gurus".
After 18+ years in web development I get a little ticked off when I run into a lazy, arrogant, and dismissive server admins.
First "Guru" says, "your site is up and running fine". It wasn't, from Beijing to New York, none of us could bring it up.
Second "Guru" says, "the domain name seems to have lapsed" It was registered 20 days ago...

I have been a website owner for seven years. I have tried various hosts through that time. I recently discovered A2 Hosting and I am very glad I did! I did a crazy thing and somehow deleted all my website files. Unfortunately, the server my account was hosted on was down for maintenance and the "server rewind" did not work. My site was down for several days, but they were finally able to find a backup and restore my site to that point. I just need to update several files that were added after this backup. This is the worst service I have ever had in 15 years of having websites. The website loads very slow and the tech support guys are high school grads at best with little knowledge about technical stuff.

The tech guys just give you the running around and are flying by the seat of their pants. They take advantage of the fact that many clients are not tech guys (their not supposed to be) luckily for me, I'm an Engineer and have worked in IT for years so I was able to see through their nonsense and sent them reports generated with third party online applications that CLEARLY shows there is an issue with their server.

When you know what you are taking about and sent them irrefutable reports from testing done at third party websites, the IT guys (who care so much more about being right then about solving the issue) just stop replying after wasting your time for weeks.

A2 Support has to be one of the best around. You can get someone on the line almost immediately. I called about changing the name of my website and was told how to do it and how to change the DNS settings from the site where I bought my new domain name. After allowing some time for the domain registry to make the update, I called A2 back and they made the necessary changes on their end pronto. Couldn't be more seamless.

I had connection problems to varying extents with all of them; FileZilla could not connect but in some cases net2ftp.com succeeded. The biggest difference was in getting sensible support answers. My previous hosting provider was great - until they were acquired by EIG. Then their service sucked big-time, so I moved to A2. Effortless signup was expected (I'm a new acquisition so of course they're going to be fast). When I wanted to transfer my old domain across, though, I found their support team to *still* be highly responsive, friendly, helpful but above all *fast*. One month after requesting my EPP code from my ex provider, they finally gave it to me. 3 minutes (I kid you not) after advising A2 of the EPP code, I was receiving emails advising that the transfer was underway. 3 MINUTES. Not 3 weeks or months like my last crowd, but MINUTES. This is typical of the response I've had from them, and that's why I've taken the time to write a review.

A2 Hosting is by far one of the best hosting providers. I am a web developer since 1997 and have hosted with many competitors, 1and1, HostGator, goDaddy, Bluehost, Monster, and a few others. None of them even come close to the excellent service, support and hosting hardware A2 provides, and they do all this with fair pricing. Their Turbo SSD hard drives and optimized Wordpress hosting is lightning fast. The home page for one wordpress site with the heavy Avada theme and weighted down with big slide shows, flip boxes, rotating reviews, etc was hosted on Bluehost and taking over 30 seconds to load. Twice I contacted support and the load time improved to 15 seconds. Still pathetic, and damaging to our ranking position on Google, but after about a month the load time was back to over 30 seconds. We transferred the site to A2 Hosting, asked their gurus to help us optimize it, and the site now loads in just over 3 seconds! I also transferred a number of sites from HostGator, and A2 Hosting immediately found they were full of spam bots, trojans, viruses that HostGator never found or had a clue of!!!! I left HostGator due to how bad and unknowledgeable their support had gotten, but had no idea how bad they were maintaining their servers! HostGator even lost all backups of the sites and each one had to be manually cleaned and a couple recreated. Well.. my experience is pretty much the opposite from what i have expected.
The thing is, that they are advertising alot about how much faster they are than theire competitors. I come from hostgator one of those who they say are much slower
in hosting. I had a hatchling plan in hostgator and on a2hosting i chose the lite plan. Well after changing the host my website is significantly slower than before.
I didnt run any tests but everything just loads slower. This is for my website and the dashboard.

I recently signed up with A2 based upon the stellar reviews I saw. I must be the outlier because even though I signed up for a 250 GB drive space once the server was created (4 days later) I began getting low disk available warnings by email. When I logged in to check it had only 10 GB of space total. I put in a support ticket and after a some escalations I was told that the most they could give me was 200 GB. I said that would be fine assuming that the price for storage was adjusted. The response was that the billing department would not give me a discount. I have been with A2 Hosting for over a year, upgrading from a single hosting account to a reseller account. Every time I have had to contact them their customer service has been outstanding. I have accounts with other providers, and A2 Hosting is by far and away the best. I am now in the process of migrating my customers to my A2 account. My only niggle is the cost - but I guess you get what you pay for!
What would be nice is to be able to split my customers between servers located in Europe and Singapore without having to have two separate accounts.

I joined A2 after being frustrated with the slow servers of my last web host. I was intrigued by the SSD servers and figured I didn't have much to lose. In the beginning there was a big DDOS attack and our site was down, Since then A2 hosting did a lot of improvements to avoid these attacks. Last year we did not have any downtime with them. I had been a long time BlueHost customer. In the past week they were under D DOS attacks. My sites were up & down, as well as FTP. I had also noticed the quality, helpfulness, and attitude of their tech support team had changed—and not for the better.

A2 hosting has been suspending my account for every reason you can think of. I will go through one incident after the other. The last one which occurred just a few minutes ago was their demand to block the comments. And though I added 2 plugins to block the comments three hours ago, about 15 minutes ago, they have suspended the account. Talking to their customer service, though I told him that I added the plugins, took about 15 minutes for him to understand that I did what they have asked for and still they disrupted the service. Now you would believe that I have violated the term of the service, but in fact the comments coming were less than what the limits.

On other occasions, my account was suspended on the basis that it has been compromised. But in reality, the files in my account are my files since I migrated the account. I am sure that their support was able to see them on the server and they were there for several months. But for them, it is very easy to shut the account and disrupt the service even when the account was running without any problem. If you are looking for a host that has total disregard to you sites, they come as number one, and if you see reviews contrary to that most probably they are paid. When it comes to all sorts of continuity of service they should be rated with zero or even below.

I already have shared hosting from 1&1 which i run a few small sites with but as they only allow 18 live users at once i needed a better solution for my new site. So i decided to look at a VPS and a2 hosting seemed to fit my needs perfectly with good specs on there VPS setups at a reasonable price.

So i purchased the hosting and now it's 2 months later and i've ran into a lot of problems with A2 there support email answer reasonably quick compared to 1&1 and on most occasions they been helpful. The main concern i have with there Guru support is A2 are meant to be a partner to cloudflare there is a link on the C panel to activate cloudflare for a2 but you still need to contact a2 support system which i have done on 3 occasions he first time they told me it was setup and ready to run but no traffic was directed thought cloudflare so i contacted a2 support again and they said sorry it was not setup correctly the first time but they have sorted the problem but again it did not work so i need to contact them again but because of more major problems recently i still not got cloudflare + railgun working (Railgun was extra cost)

The VPS uptime has been a major disappointment in the last 3 weeks i have had over 72 hours downtime the latest problem has had me offline since 7am this morning it's now 9pm and still every iceland data center user is offline to make things worse A2 own website is offline so you cannot even contact A2. When i did managed to contact A2 i got a generic email back which main theme was " we thank you for your patience while we work to mitigate this attack". The "attack" has been going for 5 days now my site has been terribly slow when alive (much slower than 1&1 shared hosting) and you cannot get a reply from either their ticket system or twitter which is not mass produced rubbish telling you nothing.

My site has started to get more traffic but it's had breaks in service nearly everyday over the last month (most of the time for only 10 - 15 minutes) but 4 times over 12 hours which is no where near A2 hosting promise of 99.9 uptime. I've been building a user base when my site goes offline for over 12 hours i notice an alarming drop in traffic when i'm back live which take days to build up again as well as lost members.

A2 hosting have had different reasons for the downtime for the last 3 big outages. Listed below are the direct quotes from A2 hosting

20-9-2014 - offline for 10 hours - "The core issue was not with your VM but the VPS node that the VM resides on filling up on disk space."
23-9-2014 - offline for 18 hours - " This appears to be an issue at our upstream provider that our sys admins are working on as we speak."
15-10-2014 offline for 15 hours & counting - "This issue was caused by a targed DDOS attack that lead to a block from our upstream provider. We are working with our DC to restore access now and should have further updates soon"

The last issue has existed for 5 daysit started on the 10th Oct some servers have been offline for 3 days I have been limping along with a slow site & mini 10 minute breakdowns as well as the long outages above.

I am working hard on trying to produce a decent site i am spending as much time as possible adding content these breakages in service are a real problem for me and i imagine most other website creators

Look at the responses on twitter you will see this has not been a problem isolated to just my server the whole iceland data center been offline for 15 hours also A2 are having problem hosting there own website and the american data centers.

Sorry this is such a long review but as you can see there's been a lot to cover the real disappointment for me is i paid for 1 years hosting which cost a fair bit of money over £350 GBP so i'm stuck with them for the next 10 months I will be moving to a different provider as soon as possible.

As I told the support specialist, "Holy #### A2's hosting is FAST!". I honestly cannot believe how fast it is. Simply switching my host from one of the large providers to A2 took my page load speed from 5-6 Seconds to 650-900 milliseconds! That's conservatively 500% faster. And I haven't even setup the free cloudflare stuff they're offering. I did extensive benchmarking prior to switching over from several different speed test sites and this has been the end result. >500% speed increase. Extremely low latency. This is so valuable by itself - less bounces, higher google ranking, very satisfied customers, etc.

I must admit, I was nervous before switching. My previous host wasn't terrible... at least I didn't think so. My business was running just fine there and there were only a handful of total system downtimes during the last year with my old provider. I figured, if it isn't broke, why try to fix it? But then I saw A2 and found out they use SSDs to store data (literally 7x faster than traditional hard drives, also about 10x the cost on a $/GB of space basis). So I figured I'd give them a shot.

I was further made nervous because their prices were half of their competitors and they were offering orders of magnitude better performance.... could it be too good to be true?

Well I'm hear to tell you, it is true, and it's real good. I didn't have to do a single thing to get the site transferred over. I contacted tech support several times with various questions and always got a quick, helpful response back in a timely fashion - even on Sunday nights, even on a holiday. That's how I run my business and I appreciate when other's do the same.

The one con I have: their servers are not PCI compliant. That simply means that if you're doing ecommerce, you have to use a payment gateway that IS PCI compliant (stripe, paypal, etc) OR you can use a traditional merchant account like Authorize.net but you must just transmit payment via Direct Post Method (DPM). This makes sure the sensitive data is posted directly to the banks and don't go through A2's servers. But seriously A2, you guys need to earn that PCI compliance ASAP because at that point there will be absolutely no reason for anyone to not choose your company.

I subscribed with A2 after reading a review describing them as a favorable alternative to other low priced web hosts. A2 promised speed, great uptime and 24/7/365 support. They have not delivered. They were unable to offer any assistance or advice unless I was willing to transfer my entire re-seller site, with 40+ domains on it. I had wanted to set up one site only, to see whether A2 would be right for me. (Thankfully I did not agree to transfer more than one)

A2's promises of 24/7/365 support is a fantasy, as I waited hours to receive replies to simple queries. The 'support gurus' did not seem to read my queries, and when they did reply, their answers seemed to be computer generated stock phrases and links, not related to what I was asking. My impression is that there is a mass exodus away from some host sites at the moment, and A2 has got more exposure than it can deal with. They seem to be unable to cope with providing any useful customer service at all, and a web host that cares nothing for its customers is not worth keeping. (I am in the process of asking for my money back)

I host several web sites for customers on shared hosting plans. A2 was appealing because of fast SSD disk and 24x7 support. I moved one of my sites to A2 for about three weeks. The support is top notch and very responsive. However, I my site uses PHP, Joomla and MySQL. The MySQL implementation was cumbersome. Administration via PhpMyAdmin was very slow and if some cases operations such as table or database copy would not complete. A2 claimed that these processes were taking too much resource and that their 'governors' killed the processes. The problem is that to host a moderately size database with occasional user access, I needed to be able to copy, backup and perform other routine tasks about once a month. I think for many 'light' sites that don't use larger MySQL databases, A2's shared hosting plans are just fine. But beware if your databases exceed 500MB that you may find it difficult if not impossible to perform routine admin tasks using A2 provided utilities via their cPanel such as phpMyAdmin

I have only been with A2 hosting for 2 1/2 months but so far I am happy I selected them. If this site will allow it and, especially if, there are significant changes in service, I will update this review. I tested my divinewiz.com site and the speed was twice as fast as my previous host. So far I've had 100% up time with an average 0 .12 connect time.

There's a good chance that I might sign up for A2 hosting's affiliate program; although I have a wellness website. Regardless, I will always keep it real as long as I am allowed to continue updating my review. Support only gets four stars because the support staff are helpful but I once waited 7 minutes in their queue before hanging up. The average time seems to be 5 minutes for phone support. They encourage tickets over phone support. The two tickets that I have submitted so far were handled within 24 hours.

I have been with A2 hosting for about 2 years with a reseller account. I have to say with any hyperbole it has been the worst decision for me and my business I have ever made. I don't think any hosting provider is perfect and they are in a difficult industry.....but you have to draw a line. The uptime for A2 hosting is awful. It frequently goes down, not just for hours, but for days. When I complain they say there is nothing wrong or say it was down only for a short time. Totally bogus. The really damaging thing they tend to do is suspend the account. Basically my clients websites has an A2 suspended sign on the site. They never warn you this is happening. It's a perfect way to lose customers. Support is not bad - as in they will eventually get back to you within a day but expect them to be rude if they don't have the time for you questions. I would recommend you avoid like the plague. Sorry!

If you what SPEED as first priority, second is price then your selections is A2hosting.

in this case I will write about some than is VERY important and is not showed in publicity or described by others in reviews... I'm talking about limiting the number of files and folder (inode limit in linux), were if you have several sites and plan to put all sites in same shared web hosting you need to evaluate this.

arvixe have no inode limits !!! wow, that sounds good...
A2hosting with ssd have an inode limit of 300,000.
godaddy have changed their policy a year ago, limiting it to 500,000.
bluehost have inode limit 50,000 per cPanel or 200,000 as max.
hostgator have a inode limit of 100,000 to 250,000.
dreamhost is very misleading because there is no place showed the inode limit, but they have quota!
Hostmoster is exactly the same quota as bluehost, inode limit 50,000 to max 200,000
Webhostinghub have a inode limit of 75,000 !!! damn very low.
fatcow is in same issue as dreamhost, it is unclear !! misleading quota
ipage is now showing the inode limit, so be careful this it.

in the overall exceperience, could be good deal research more to arvixe, but as my experiencie with a2hosting, they are very fast and 3rd place in my list of inode limits!!

I wish to know before become customer of a2hosting in review if the speed was really better than others (godaddy, hostgator, dreamhost and bluehost), as we buy 1 month for test, we are surprised, we test speed by several methods, this including using bash commands in ssh were we test uplink speed (is like 9Mb/s, were godaddy is 600Kb/s), we used commands for review what are the procesor number, speed, cores, ram, swap memory, I/O speed, etc... A2hosting was by far more powerfull...

then the next step was use bash commands for test speed in processing, like generate a PI number of 5,000 digits using time for measure the speed, A2hosting was first than godaddy... and for las and not-less-important we test 3 exame same site in godaddy and a2hosting using network inspector of firefox and chrome, the results was awesome were a2hositing was extremly fast compared to godaddy...

we plan to migrate all the files to a2hosting except the domain names because godaddy have lots of coupons for discount the renew of domain...

I've been with a2 Hosting for about 3 months now. In those 3 months my store was down 3 times. The first 2 times were for about a day, the last one was 5 full days. It has been 27 days since my site went down for 5 days , and still my site is slow as a very very slow snail.
Loadingtime per page at about 2-5 minutes is "normal" at the moment on a extra fast ssd server.

All questions and complaints I make I get "we're working on it" in reply. So I guess they are liars as wel, because in 27 days they should be able to make it a bit faster... not slower.

To compensate for the trouble of 5 days downtime and data loss they offer 6 month free service. Wich would be nice, if they actualy gave something that is working as it should.

Before the 5 day downtime I was impressed with speed, support, price and options. All that went away in the 22 days after my downtime. I would never advise anybody to use a2 hosting.

I bought an SSL through A2 but encountered an error when I tried to install it. I talked to support endlessly and waited over a week, but they were totally incapable of fixing it, or even telling me what the problem was. Meanwhile, whole sections of my site were broken while I waited and waited. Eventually I told them I couldn't wait any longer and had to buy another SSL elsewhere. A2's incompetence deprived me of $50.

I've been an A2 Hosting customer for five years now. I choose them since they usually get good reviews online.

Over the years I've had quite a few problems though. Many times when something wasn't working on one of my two Wordpress blogs, it turned out that the issue was with their server or them having restarted MySQL.Their support was also slow at times.

All these issues starting piling up, and recently I started looking for another web host. I found one that looked good, but before switching I compared pricing and services to A2 Hosting. That's when I discovered that A2 Hosting has lowered their price by 20 percent, without having extended the lower price to existing customers!

I started asking their support about this. The billing department and the general support tried to deflect or hide behind corporate jargon. Finally, the sales department told me straight up that the cheaper but identical package had been around for more than a year. So they had made me, a loyal customer, pay extra for almost a full year!

A2 Hosting will not compensate me in any way, shape or form for this, so I have decided to leave them for good. It's a shame they punish their loyal customers, otherwise it's a decent web host.

I had hosted several dozen domains with several hosting companies over the years. A2hosting stands out for me for several reasons:
1) Flexible range of options from cloud hosting, VPS servers and Web hosting.
2) Excellent pricing model. I now host six sites with them and it costs me a third or the price that my previous hosting company charged me under their "Volume Plan".
3) Flexible access to my server. I like the way that a2hosting provides a very streamlined and simple interface from their website to all services and domains, whether physical or virtual. The cpanel interface to the web hosting service has immediately made a dramatic impact on my business. I managed to install, for example, Wordpress within minutes and it worked. Shell access is simple and works.
4) Nice layout of webhosting file structure. Maybe it is a dangerous way to do it, but I like the fact that I can see and access all of my directories for all of my users and subdomains in one go. It simplified my management of several sites dramatically as I can copy from one to the other. I think I saved more time and money in two weeks in this way than my hosting will cost me over the next two years.
5) Their support was quick, polite and technically astute. Where I had minor technical glitches in the transfer of one of my domains to them they resolved my questions competently and promptly.
6) They provide exciting options such as SSD disks, memory etc. and make it easy to add these things to your existing package. (and then to remove them if you thought it wasn't such a good idea after all).

I am so happy that I am with A2 after switching from Go(or stop)Daddy. I was so sick and tired when calling Godaddy they answer "sales and technical support" and I was calling for a technical issue - especially with a critical issue they want to review my account to see how much more money they could get from me.

A2 is far from that - the superior technical team is just that - they solve problems and on an extremely timely basis. When I have a problem - I don't know exactly how to word it - but the team of technicians take what I can give them and determine what the problem is and fix it for you while, in most cases, you are in an IM session. I mostly use IM and when not available I know I can leave a support ticket - they are all over it.

I'll say the same as I have been saying so far –and for the record, how every good journalist should always say: I'm not affiliate with them in anyway!!

Obviously, anyone has his own experience, but mine has been so far excellent. They have done for me more far more than what you could expect. The behaviour of the support team has been supererogatory!! What means: performance of more work than duty requires. I recognised it. And not only when I have ask for support, but also when they new I had no time to do myself what I'm supposed to do myself. As I said before:

Hosting is ok. Value is Ok. Email does not work with outlook and there is no customer support available. Tickets are not answered in a timely manner and you begin at the beginning each time with each new 'tech' reading from the front of the manual and having you try every again and again to no avail. I came to A2 hosting after years of hosting my own virtual server. I wanted a reliable host, with good performance that was well supported by people who cared.

So far I have not regretted my decision at all. Their support answers the same day, and takes care of the problem. They have multiple outlets to reach them, including phone, email, twitter, and forums. I've never felt like I was bothering anyone.

I’ve been an A2 hosting customer for almost five years. I chose to go with A2 because of their uptime and their customer support. I’ve upgraded and am now using many of their products.

The reason I’ll stick with A2 is because of their customer support personnel. I have not had a lot of technical issues while being their customer, but the few I have had were handled quickly and in a professional manner. For example, late on a Friday evening an A2 service rep was so committed to solving our issue that he gave me his personal email and cell number. He said to contact him over the weekend if the issue was not resolved. It’s refreshing to receive this level of support.

I have been a customer of A2hosting for a year now, but I am cancelling my subscription today. For the past 8 months I have been getting double billed. 8 months ago I upgraded my package to executive hosting to take advantage of unlimited domains. Instead of upgrading my account, a new one was generated. Since that time they have been billing me for two accounts. Sad thing is, I noticed both accounts MONTHS ago (I can't remember just how many) and I called them IMMEDIATELY to get the issue straightened out and thought it was all fixed. Well, they didn't fix anything, they just went right on billing me for both accounts. Then, as if their service couldn't get any worse, I called then last week when I noticed they were still double billing me. I asked them, "How long has this been going on?" By this time I was speaking with their billing supervisor, Amber. She told me that the executive account had only been billed for the past three months, so I accepted her offer to credit two months of service back into my account. Well, this morning I decided to call my bank, and come to find that I have been double billed for the past 8 months! I actually just confronted Amber about this moments ago, and her reply was typical of any super corporate entity selling telecommunications, "I'm sorry sir, I cannot issue a return payment onto a card for a purchase more than 90 days old". Even as I told her that I would accept a credit to my account her response was still, "I'm sorry sir there just isn't anything more for you that I can do". She very politely told me that her company was content keeping the funds they double billed me to get. I asked her who the owner of the company was, she refused to answer. I asked her what her last name or employee ID was, she refused to answer. I asked her how many employees A2hosting had, she, you guessed it, refused to answer. Considering that I have been with A2hosting for over a year now, and that I have been paying the hefty price of $12.95 a month, I would expect a bit more reason from them. Ultimately, the price was a bit high, but the service adequate. However, as a man of principle I cannot do business with a company who doesn't know the meaning of good business. Now I think I am choosing between ipage and justhost. After this recent experience with A2hosting I am afraid to try any of the "cheapies". Hope this review saves someone some time and heartache.

A2 was very reliable a year ago, but now, their systems are very outdated. There are several critical security bugs in their system. Its like Marty coming back from the future.
My experience with A2 was mostly regarding to hacked and infected sites, and the solution was always to move out due to the incompetence of the support.
As I see it from here the support has no clue of what they are doing, and they don't really care about the data losses they caused.

A2 is great if you're looking for cheap, shared hosting by a company that (at least appears to) care about the environment. Signing up a new website with a new domain name is a piece of cake, anything else and it gets hairy (some of their service setups are a little dinky).

I'm a web designer/developer with a steady string of clients needing hosting. I've started referring them to a2hosting almost exclusively because it's easy and mostly pain-free.

HOWEVER, their support--as with most cheap-o web outfits--is sub-par (and trust me, sometimes support really matters). Their online chat feature seems handy, until you realize just how long it takes to get something simple answered; you get the impression that it's just one person trying to handle multiple queries at once...extremely slow and frustrating.

I was looking for a budget vps with quality support. It was the first time i was trying to host websites on vps and support was one of the main factors. After reviewing lot on the web i choose A2Hosting. My selection has proved right till date.

I purchase an vps of 256mb ram and running around 10+ sites on it till date. The server has been able to handle huge traffic of 10,000+ hits per day. The server has never gone down. The control panel is simple to use and provides all statistics. They have a good knowledgebase and wiki online. They are among the few hosts i have seen to have an discussion forum too.Live chat people are always there to assist.

Since i was totally new to managing vps, initially i raised lot of support questions. Their support team is very helpful and helped a lot. They proved that there is no much technical expertise required to manage an vps.

I rarely faced any problems with a2hosting and they have handled the problems which i created(not from their side). They are good option for anyone looking for quality hosting withing the budget. I would surely recommend everyone to give A2Hosting an try !

I am extremely disappointed with their hosting and appalled at their lack of support. I started hosting with A2 Hosting in December 2007. My first registered support request was March 3rd, 2008.

My problem was my website went down several times a week, although the down time was only a matter of minutes each time, I quickly became concerned about the constant problems I was having with A2 hosting.

The support was terrible, they constantly deny the problems and even on one occasion claimed it was a problem with my website. Over a year I couldn't even tell you how many times my website went down, because it was only down for a few minutes I couldn't submit a support ticket fast enough to prove to them there was a problem. They claimed they had 24/7 monitoring and they didn't see any problem.

They finally admitted the server was having problems (how could they not), only after a year of complaining and finally adding an outside monitoring service. They claimed to have fixed the problem however, the six days following their claims I was down again six times. After emailing them again, sending the proof that the server was still having problems, their response was:

"If your still having troubles with intermittent downtime, you might want to consider a VPS, or Dedicated hosting plan."

I couldn't believe it. I explained to them that I was not going to upgrade my plan because of the problems they seem to have keeping their servers working. They agreed to migrate my site to another server.

So on April 4th, 2009 - I received an email stating that my site had been migrated to a new server. Unfortunately the site was not accessible. I explained to them that The problem appeared to be that the site couldn't connect to the postgres database server since the migration.

Their response was "Your site is resolving for me at http://www.textcall.com". I had to explain to them once again that it was a database permission problem on their server.

Their response: "I have escalated this issue to our network administrators. They agree it appears to be a permissions issue."

I only had to wait 24 hours for that response.

Here is the most ignorant response I have received from A2 Hosting yet, keep in mind my site and database was working on the other server (when the server wasn't down) and nothing had changed other then the migration:

"The issues appear to be related to permissions on your custom schema. The 'common' schema owner has been changed to your 'textcall' user, but there may still be permissions issues.

Unfortunately, custom schemas are not something that we support, we cannot further troubleshoot permissions on this."

Again, this was after they migrated from one server to another, A2 Hosting decided that they wouldn't support the problem they caused.

This is when I made the first phone call to their support line, and where I got hung up on because I wasn't happy with their excuses. I eventually got the main tech supervisor, the person that oversees the servers and is supposed to make sure everything works correctly. He explained to me that he couldn't figure out how change the permissions on the server they migrated my site to and my only option was to migrate it back to the original server it was on.

Let me say that again. The person that supervises the hosting support, the person that sets up and maintains A2's Hosting servers could not figure out how to change the permissions on the server. This is after my site had been down going on three days.

That was on Tuesday April 7th, 2009. This is now Saturday April 11th, 2009, the site has been down twice since then and is now down again due to some kind of "unexpected problem". I received an email saying everything has been fixed yet my website is still down and support has failed to respond.

I'm not trying to make up your mind on whether or not to use A2 hosting as your hosting provider, I'm merely sharing my experience over the last year with this company. If it's important to you however, that your website is up and accessible then take my experience in to consideration.
