AN Hosting Profile

Zak Boca and Daniel Usherman started AN Hosting in 2001, with the original set-up being in a small shop outside Chicago.

In 2005 it was merged into another Boca/Usherman project, Chicago-based web hosting company MidPhase Services. In 2007 ownership of the shared and VPS hosting side of business for MidPhase and AN Hosting was sold to the privately owned British-based UK2.net Group.

For the moment UK2 does not plan to merge the products, services or infrastructure of either MidPhase or AN Hosting with its own hosting brand.

Company and Services
AN Hosting (with MidPhase) has more than 90,000 customers and hosts more than 150,000 domains on its network of thousands of servers. Customers are supported by a team of around 60 technical staff. They are based in either its Chicago data center or its administration headquarters, also in Chicago. AN Hosting (and parent companies) only employ their own staff and do not contract out to third parties, not even for customer support staff.

The customer-base at AN Hosting tends to be small-to-medium size businesses. However, it also targets bloggers and individual website owners and boasts a substantial customer based (tens of thousands of sites) in this market.

AN Hosting has just one hosting plan – the Mega Plan. Although the Mega Plan has been around since 2001, it is still going strong today; probably due to the numerous features that come with it - from point and click site builder software to unlimited email accounts, OS shopping carts and more.

It currently offers plenty of disk space (500GB), huge data transfer (5,000GB) and you can host up to 20 websites on one account.

The service is backed up a 99.9% uptime promise as well as a 30 day money back guarantee. Support is available 24/7 by either phone or email. The Mega Plan is considered by some to be one of the best budget deals around allowing AN Hosting to compete with some of the larger budget host providers in North America.

In addition to positive customer feedback, AN Hosting has received several accolades from hosting publications including being chosen as the Best Web Host by Web Hosting Directory, a Top 5 Web Host by TopHosts.com and being recommended by CNET’s users.

Server Location
The servers for AN Hosting and MidPhase are currently are held in two data centers based in and around Chicago Illinois. However, it looks like MidPhase (and AN Hosting) will be moving their servers to SoftLink’s data centers in Seattle Washington, Dallas Texas and Washington DC.
