Too many downtimes. Sometimes even their support site is down. Just won't recomend. Quitting soon...
I've used Byet's services over a period of 5 years now and have never been quite sure of them. As a newbee to the web, i used there free hosting, then took one of their free hosting resellers, and my inexperience led me to believe that all free hosts operated the same way, but now i different. Up until about 3 years ago, they used to use a really dodgy re-direct page, so if a user went to a page on your site which no longer existed, you'd get dozens of ads spammed onto your pc in rapid succession making you believe you had a virus, and whoever gave away free hosting under their reseller (i.e ME) got the blame.
They later changed this to a dodgy website called 'mybookface.com' so that users would end up on that site which said clearly 'This site spies your computer'. It worried my signees.
As for their paid hosting: At first i thought it was good, a cheap cpanel account with loads of features, but then suddenly they tell you that your site needs to be upgraded to a VPS.
If you don't, your site gets suspended.
I recently a paid hosting reseller from them which i thought was good value, then found odd things happening. One day i'd be able to log into WHM, and an hour later I can't, and all my sotes pages go blank. When I put in support tickets, I didn't get any wortwhile responses (you normally have to put in several tickets before they actually understand the problem) but then they fail to provide an explanation as to why your sites went dead and why you were unable to log in.
My most recent experience found this happening regularly, and a few days ago I found one of my accounts had been suspended and had disappeared from WHM. As i was trying to find it, I suddenly got logged out of WHM and was unable to log back in.
When I contacted support, they told me that site had been sending in excess of 100 spam emails per hour. This is totally untrue and asked for evidence of that several times, and they failed to provide any evidence.
It all gives the appearance that they disable your account so that they can go in and 'fiddle' with your files.
Also, once when i did take a VPS from them, then later ditched it, I found that a number of websites across the internet all showed MY homepage. For example if my URL was www.mysite.com I would find my home page located at many different URL's which were NOT mine. Something very dodgy about this company and I'm currently preparing a report for the authorities. No other web hosting company behaves the way Byet does. I'll stay well clear of them in future, and recommend that everyone takes note of this post.
These guys offer incredibly fast servers, but never look for support or decent customer relations. They never contact you concerning anything. If you go even slightly over the max transfer per month (on and "unlimited" acct), they will shut your sites down with absolutely no notice, no warning, and no care for what it does to your business and SEO Ranking. They are hell bent on getting people to use their Virtual Private Servers, but they are crap and still have no vocal support. Until they find something more reliable than their pathetic excuse for a support ticket system, they will continue to be sub-par.
Byethost flexible, on the side of customer, very professional when dealing with my problems. I started with their free plan, then I grow up and moved to premium and afterwards ordered for VPS. I am happy customer.
I never faced any problem( except I asked them to increase my php limit as my script was resource hungry) on their server, emails were sent instantly and thank god they were not in the spam box like those Amazon EC2.
I would highly recommend them, just 3 $ a month and great reliability, support and .. just think of it and they'll be happy to help you
Byet Host are infact, one of the best hosts I have been with. SiteGround were amazing but the £5 mo/ fee is just a bit too much for a 16 year old's pocket (When I had the hosting package).
Byethost really does offer quite a wide range of packages to choose from for your desired needs. They offer free basic hosting (with safe mode off) up to premium hosting (shared, paid) & Business (VPS & Own server) with a good bulk of features to go with each. The free hosting package is a small but effective hosting solution for anyone who needs a fast and easy host for their blog or website. It has 250MB disk space with 6GB transfer per month (this is actually better than some paid hosts). The only downside is that its on a balance shared server, so your sites performance will degrade if you use too much resources (if you have a forum etc.) but having a paid option (the cheapest at Byet) for $35.88 (cost me £20) for a free site upgrade (no downtime) and great package specs is brilliant.
Their support is second to none, the average response time I got must have been around 4-20 minutes, depending on time of day when I replied. I had a few problems with the site being upgraded and my domain flying around but it was a sorted within the hour and my site was fully working again. I had some problems on other hosts where I was waiting for at least 2 days for the problem to be fixed. They also have a fantastic forum with help & support there from the team + customers.
The customer doesn't need that much technical expertise/experience to put their site on the server and run it through Byethosts. They have great tutorials, documentation and the paid packages use CPanel (which is very easy to use with tutorials of its own). If you are ever stuck with anything, the support team is always more than happy to assist.
They had a DDOS attack on the servers for the free hosting and it caused problems through the websites hosted, but they quickly released an announcement explaining why (http://byet.net/showthread.php?t=6912) and the problems were sorted within a few hours. They also added more security to help prevent this from happening again.
It is suitable for anyone, it is a great general host offering; free, paid, reseller and business packages that are feature packed and at competitive prices. If you have a small website or a huge forum, Byethost can host it.
I am very proud to have my site hosted at Byethost and I don't see me switching at all. I would fully recommend anyone to give them a try and when friends ask me about good hosts, I direct them to Byethost's site. Brilliant host.
I signed up at byethost for the free hosting. Everything was working great for a few days until my site started automatically redirecting to http://securesignupoffers.net.
I logged into my account and saw the following "Dear Valued Customer, It appears this account is currently suspended." No reason was given. I only opened the account a few days ago to test some completely harmless php scripts.
The support is only for "Hosting, VPS & Dedicated Server customers," so I have no way of reaching out to them or asking them to fix it. The ftp password no longer works, so I guess they have all my files now.
Oh well, you get what you pay for.
