I'm a little conflicted with ehost.com. I got an unbelievable price for a year of hosting (lowest I've paid for "full service" hosting) which comes with the standard features found on most cPanel-based hosting providers. The service is stable enough that I didn't find it necessary to run a site-monitor on it, and although I don't usually require a lot of help from support, I would say the same about customer service. And did I mention the price? So far so good...

Then we get to the main issue I have with ehost.com: The speed of their network. Sporadic and clumsy at best, sometimes page-load time are simply ridiculous - Sometimes the browser times out, sometimes I simply run out of patience. As you can imagine, this makes live development (I mostly use WordPress these days!) an agonizingly slow process, to the point where I've simply given up mid-design out of frustration. Support has offered me little help in that department, chalking the latency up to anything from "collective traffic" (whatever they believe that to mean), to a development issue on my side. Ironically, the later of the excuses was used at a time where I had only installed a single instance of WordPress.. with no content. Yikes, talk about passing the blame off.

But here is where I'm conflicted - I've never paid this cheap of a price for hosting, and although the latency is a considerable issue, I personally have experienced little-to-no downtime! Additionally, although customer service has obviously only tried to shift blame off of ehost.com, they have been perfectly polite and expedient in responses. It almost feels like they are there as a shoulder to cry on rather than support at times, but I digress.

I guess the main take-away from ehost.com is "You get what you pay for". Seeing as I paid a laughably cheap price for a year of hosting, I guess that would translate to laughably cheap quality of the same hosting I paid almost nothing for. By that, I really can't rationalize a lot of negativity towards ehost.com, and although, technically, it has been an act of patience dealing with their slow service, they have been perfectly pleasant as a whole to deal with. It's rather conflicting I must admit.

If you want cheap hosting, with cheap quality of service, these are your guys. If you want high-end hosting, there are a lot of other options to choose from. Although I don't believe I personally will be renewing, I would be morally OK with recommending these guys to someone looking for hosting on-the-cheap.

I have been using ehost.com about 1 year. I feel that it has gave me the best support i ever seen. It really deserves value for money. I'am very sure that ehost support is very responsive and up-time. And the hosting is also cheap, i got it for 70% discount and a free domain. It was an unbelievable experience. Totally it is a very fulfilling web hosting service, I highly recommend them.

For the price, ehost shared hosting is worth more than what I paid for it. I got 1 year for around $12!

Really expected it to be a cheap alternative for testing out new sites, but actually I got the same experience as with hostgator, but for a fraction of the price.

Only time I got worried was when my cpanel wasn't loging in for around 6 hours but my site has been up for over 6 months now with no downtime (that i know about). And speed is what you would expect from shared hosting, comparable to any other shared hosting like hostgator.

Has all the features i needed, unlimited everything, addon domains, emails, bandwidth and storage, also one free domain. The only thing not included was whois guard for $10, which i should have taken because i got some spam emails about my domain afterwards. But I can't complain since it's still cheaper than bluehost and hostgator that i used before.

My conclusion: if your looking for shared hosting, this is definately the most reliable option for this price range.

P.S if you're wondering how i got 1 year for $12, i completed the checkout but had to go right before the last step. Then got followup emails with massive discounts :)

Set up eHost with Safari. I design website for the blind. No problem except everything is extremely slow. After a few months, I wanted to make some changes to a couple of my databases but now I cannot login. I can login with Chrome and Firefox but, as I am blind and use a screen reader, Safari is my preferred browser. Told the support tech and he asked me to take a screenshot!!! Will right off what I paid as a bad choice and go back to iPage.

awful place, so difficult to navigate to just build a very very simple website from a template, nothing special, just a simple few photographs, a blog and contact page. uploading photos was fine but to then put them onto a template was crazy! it moves, gets bigger and smaller, loses pixels etc. then customer services took 23 mins to answer and 29 mins to not sort the issue out. stay well clear, its just a pile of !

I have had multiple issues with eHost..I have also used Godaddy, and highly recommend them over eHost. I have had a website that my account shows I paid for three years, and it was recently taken down. I raised four tickets to resolve the issue within a months period, and received either poor or no response with my issues. If you would like to stay clear of issues with your account/ billing, stay clear of eHost's services.

If anyone would be interested in snapshots of the issue that I had with eHost or email correspondence between the "Billing Administrator" and myself, I would be happy to provide them.

After hosting 2 websites, I wanted to go with a third one, since I was happy with the service and great prices.
So I went to the page where I would "Add a new website" in my account. Due a system bug apparently, it ended up purchasing a "Premium Service" for one of my existing websites, sometimes I never needed or will need in my life. They charged me around 70$. I tried to contact Live Chat, they kept telling me they can not refund and I have to purchase a new website hosting plan. I contacted support by E-mail, 10 days and yet no reply.
I was planning to host many websites, but thats the end. Once the terms of my existing ones reaches end, I will migrate.
Terrible costumer service, never seen something like that in my 12 years experiance with many hosting companies.

I signed up with eHost for a 3-yeat hosting plan because they offered an outstanding value and would host multiple domains for one price. I had previously used iPage and Lunarpages hosting. BUYER BEWARE - As a client the first stumbling block is deciding whether to use eHost's cPanel or Website Builder. There is no WARNING that you're making a irreversible decision. I wanted to see their Web Builder templates and see how easy and functional they were, si I clicked on that option. The, I built a quick, satisfactory test site for my first domain. Next, I tried to build a second site, but was repeatedly presented with a new billing page. I contacted support, but they could not give me a straight, simple answer, so I tried phone and email contact. Eventually, they explained their unwritten rule: Clients can only use Website Builder once for one website per hosting agreement. This was surprising, but I could deal with it. I'd use web builder for one domain and select cPanel for the others. Sadly, cPanel was unavailable unless I agreed to a second hosting/billing agreement. So, I deleted the web builder site and said I'd just use cPanel for both sites. eHost said, "fine," but first I should buy a second hosting agreement and then they'd refund the cost of the original. This sounded awfully fishy. Why should I have to buy first and put more money at risk? What is they never refunded my original payment? (I'm a skeptic.) I told them to cancel my agreement under their Money Back Guarantee. That is the last I've had any communication from eHost. They have never replied to ANY email support tickets. And they have never followed through with their phone and chat promises. This is often the problem when you look for a "good deal" - too good to be true. I'm still waiting for ANY action or response to my cancellation request and plan to file a dispute through my credit card company. I have no idea what eHost's service would be like over time, but this was a very bad start.

I was skeptical, after reading the mixed reviews, but after signing up two days ago, I already have a fully functioning website up and running on eHost.com. I chose to go month to month, which is of course, is the most expensive option, yet in my opinion at least, it is still a bargain compared to other hosting options I have been through.

The website builder is the absolute best I have ever used. It is user friendly and it also allows the user so many personal options, like importing relevant photos to my business model. What's even better is the wonderful way it allows any photo to be used for banners, with no distortion issues whatsoever. The duplicate a section tool is fantastic!! It will save me so much time as I add inventory listings to my site.

eHost, you have made my job of creating a website, a non-problem. It was fun in fact!! I'm a fan already and I see nothing so far that resembles the negative issues that some may have had. I hope to be a customer for years to come.

I have presently been using Ehost for a year. My biggest issue is the free email for over 2 weeks my email has been down with multiple calls with wait times over 30 mins and on line chats with no resolution. This is my business email this being down impacts my business but no help from ehost.

I have been using eHost since mid2015. I had to transfer my site from HostGator and I must say I'm impressed at how much time it took. eHost support took a lot of time to answer my tickets and even then the answers weren't as helpful as I would have liked.

They didn't move my website and told me to upload backups. I did so. I uploaded a full website backup which they still couldn't use to restore. Instead they told me to use the cPanel backup function to restore from a home directory backup and MySQL backups. Uploading backups with my internet speed took the best part of 2 days.

I also had problems with SSL and script autoinstaller. This time the support was better and helped me fix it up.

the UpTime has been good. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to check it out 24/7 but I have not seen the site down at all.

All in all, if you are going to start a new website, eHost is the host for you; if you need to move your website to another host, as I did, don't even bother!

I've been a customer for almost 2 months, hosting the forum http://wottactic.com there.

So far I've had a billing issue at the start, which was quickly resolved. It took 2 weeks, 4 e-mails and 3 times contacting chat support to open an outgoing port for me. And for the last 1.5 days the website loads roughly 30% of the time. Support assures me they're working on it.

Support staff is nice enough. I just wish I wouldn't need them quite as often and they could redirect me to someone who can actually help me a little quicker.

So in summary if it all works it's a pretty good deal, but at the time of this writing I don't recommend hosting anything with them.

I was offered a free website with e hosts. The hosting and entry to Google cost me about £300 (£200 for two years and £53 annually from then on) After 6 months of building the site and establishing the business, having cards printed etc, the site suddently disapeared from Google Ranking. I contacted e host and they said the domain had been released!! In other words they had failed to renew and secure it in my name. I notice they have a 100% money back guarantee so I asked for my money back. They informed me that I could re-register my domain and they would give me any costs back and could continue to host. Why would I take the risk of losing it again when they did not seem to know that I had already paid them to secure the site for me! I am very unhappy with the service. No matter how good the tools and webbuilding facilities are, you just cannot risk the idea of your domain being placed without your knowledge back on to the open market and risk losing it. I asked for my money back again, but they have failed to both provide the service or give me my money back. I cannot recommend this hosting site.

Absolutely a nightmare. first of all, they kept me waiting for a week to approve my application, secondly, the DNS stop working and my website went down and after a day I couldn't access my email addresses as well. when I applied for a refund ( the have 45 days money back guarantee policy) they just stop responding to me. It has been three days and yet no response. Do yourself a favour and don't go with them.

eHost is an intuitive and cost effective host for any personal blogger or small business. Uptime is really quite excellent considering the monthly price is a little under $3...a fraction of hosting costs with other household brands!

The cPanel interface is manageable even for a newbie like me! As of yet I have not had to contact support - so I cannot comment on their response time in that department.

Stay far away from Ehost. I signed up, ensured I was only signing up for hosting. Confirmation page showed 50 some dollars. Received an email 20 minutes later that showed 129 dollars and Ehost had added on a number of non standard services.

Contacted Ehost, they kept passing me around, finally had to have my bank do a charge back on them.

Went back to HostGator, they are owned by the same company however HostGators support if fully US based and they seem to be willing to work with customers and they did no add on items after the final bill.

The eHost is a poor hosting as compared to the other hosting like HostGator or like that, there support is not as quick as they should be.
There is not a 99% UPTIME.
It can cause a lot of problems in the running site. If you going to work on the High Project then you should keep away from this.
But if you are in start of a micro-niche site then you can take the eHost hosting, as there rates are good and affordable.
Support is not very good. I prefer the hosting that have the best support, because it helps me a lot in any problem that i face.
Hope this works for you!
All the BEST!

For this few months, I have no problem with my website, which obviously have a little page for my landing page. So, I didn't face some problem which occurred on some their customers.

My first impression for their support is good. They replied not more than an hour after I created my ticket and they kind of helpful when resolve my little problem on my ftp account.

I cannot really think of anything negative to say. the only drawback that I personally don't like is their pricing. There have been no major drawbacks to service or functionality and I have since had no down time.

Be kind to visit my site : http://asumbo.com/ and feel if eHost.com is right for you or not :) Thanks

I have made several sites with eHost and never had a problem, ok once the DNS has to be reconfigured but it took less than 24 hours. I am not sure why so many negative reviews, its like buying a stapler and asking why doesn't it drive a nail into wood...thats not its job. If you want a hammer, buy one. The majority of people complaining could have solved there problems by doing research and going to YouTube but instead decide to complain about something that costs less a month than what you spend on coffee!!! Sorry, just makes me upset when a good site gets bad reviews from amateurs who dont know what they need or want.

I have had an absolutely horrible time using ehost. Despite having considerably cheaper prices than competing host sites, they simply charged my card and didn't provide anything in return. My website permanently says "pending order" (it's been doing this since 2 months ago) and ehost has provided no information on why it's still pending or how I might be able to fix it. Upon contacting the support staff, service was unacceptably slow, unhelpful, and very ineffective. In addition, I cannot unsubscribe to their spam advertising emails which have been filling my inbox since when I first registered. If you value your time, money, and hard work you put into writing a website, use an alternative hosting site.

Contrary to rumours about eHost not being good enough, I, being their customer for more than a year, am in awe of their service. The prices are all competitive which is almost welcome by everyone, especially those not wanting to spend too much on the creation of new websites. The loading time of the pages is very fast which attracts more traffic. My website has got close to no downtime which is really appreciable. The support team is also very quick with their responses, almost always responding in a matter of some minutes, in rare cases, a maximum of couple hours. Almost every time my problem has been solved with easy. I would, for sure recommend eHost to everyone.

First of all, I wish I had read some of these reviews before joining EHost. Tickets answered by email seem friendly and fast, but are rarely accurately handled. I had to get help with registering and was charged for the privacy without having asked for that. When I emailed for a ticket on that issue, they replied "Your account will be refunded, we're sorry to see you go." It's like they didn't even read the issue. When I replied with the issue again, I was informed that the charge was refunded. Today, I discovered the withdrawal IS on my bank statement. And my site is STILL not published....the DNS registration didn't work even after I contacted them 2 more times and was told it was handled. I am about cancel it, which is frustrating after having done all that work to design the site.

I will add, the Chat representative was helpful in trying to resolve my registration issue. However, email support is highly frustrating.....it's like they aren't communicating with direct responses that truly reflect understanding. My take - they are foreign and have scripted answers.

I tried many hosting providers to host my eCommerce website, i was looking for best performance to my site (fast and Secure) ,i find what i need and what i paid for , the support is fast when i face any problem , and the website has uptime 100-99% using pingdom reports , the main problem was my SSl then later the support helped me to pass this problem , The email service is also great help me to get in response with my customers , I love to handle everything through cpanel and they offer it , i recommend it for small eCommerce website which look for stability and power to build their stores.

Definitely disappointed. This was my first hosting experience and the quality of service was abysmal. They were consistently understaffed and unable to complete requests within a reasonable period of time. Wait times were often beyond outrageous and I often had to wait hours to have my concerns mentioned. They continuously made countless mistakes which would throw already delicate situations into heavier chaos. I finally determined that it would be best to change hosts since this service would be unacceptable once our site fully launched. After waiting 2 and a half weeks to have an SSL certificate installed I set up services with someone else. Unfortunately they are a pain to deal with even after you have left. I am currently chatting with them to receive the SSL certificate I had purchased but had not been installed. During this conversation they have tried to delay providing the SSL by asking me to repoint the domain nameservers back to them on two occasions, both by email and through this chat, where i had to reinforce the concept that i had changed hosts, consistent unnecessary holds, additional questions on whether i would be installing the SSL certificate with them, statements saying it is the new hosts responsibility and not theirs even though they had not issued the SSL certificate, Asking that I return to my new hosting provider to request a CSR even though I had already provided to ehost on three separate occasions, including twice during our current conversation, and I finally just found out through our chat that they will be opening a ticket for this which will have no ETA. I am currently under the impression that it will take another 2 and a half weeks to have this 5 minute process completed.

I'm current user of ehost , more than 7 months and this period is enough to judge the service quality , the website load very fast [ Good Speed ] ,and they have good support team reply withing few hrs in the same day, however their small plan will not be suitable for huge traffic [ i currently host small niche website] , and the wordpress load quickly , i use the cpanel to control everything specially wordpress installation ,i had no issue so far, i can recommend it for all starter with low budget and need very good quality hosting, and if ufind u get more than 1000-2000 visitors / day you may upgrade to next level of their hosting pack .

Prior to subscribing, their website advised quite clearly that my requested .com.au domain had been reserved for me, subject to me subscribing to their hosting service.
Following subscribing, I have now been told that they can not register .au domains and that I must do this elsewhere, and then bring my domain to them.

I would not have a problem with this at all, if they had declared this from the start and did not deceive me to obtain business.

On the surface eHost appears to provide an efficient system for producing and hosting websites. However; the templates, while free, are bland and more or less the same with a few cosmetic colour and image changes, etc.

The email format system is horrid: default spacing can not be modified and there are few options for producing detailed signatures and letter formats compared to other providers. Also, there is no address auto-fill function on the To/cc/bcc boxes (like you get on Outlook, Hotmail, gmail, etc) so each email address has to be entered by hand every time you want to send a message. This requires looking up email addresses or keeping a list next to your computer for every single message you send.

The absolute worst part, however, is the technical and billing support system and staff. Never in my life have I had a more frustrating experience dealing with a group of incompetent people. After trying to purchase a second email account for $5 a month my credit card and account was billed nine separate times for a total of $45. After all of that I still had no active email account and it took seven days for the ticket to move through the appropriate channels to the point where the billing issue could be resolved. A customer relations staff member told me over the phone that I would be comped a second free email address for my services only to have that promise nullified once my ticket progressed to anyone with the authority to make actual changes. My business and reputation have suffered as a result.

I will not be renewing my subscription next year. I will NEVER recommend eHost to anyone. My advice to everyone is to avoid eHost like the plague.

When I wanted to sign up for this hosting service - the first interesting point showed up - they offer the hosting service for 2,75 EUR / month on their web page (nothing about from etc...), - and the price is ... 4,99 EUR / month
Somewhat disappointed I continued through the following five pages of extras, add-ons etc.with a rather pricy pricetag - I thought I had got all of these options to no thank you - however, one small one (privacy for 9,95 USD) sneaked trough - I didn't wanted it - and I had already given the credit card
Next came up a choice of either c-panel or their website builder
That is quite useless - normally other providers have the web-site builder as an option in the c-panel !!! - so now I got even more worried
Finally I discovered that they do not have unlimited domains hosted on your account - you just have to pay for the extra - exactly opposite of their web page
So - with this I asked for my money back - I can only see a future with daily troubles when the sign up procedure is full of hidden fees and not correct prices
Sorry - this was my 5 minutes in ehost.com space

good hosting at very cheap and competitive prices for those who don't want to spend too much for creating a brand new site. Their hosting plan looks much attractive compared to others. I will try to check it very soon. But I have found many negative review about eHost. Let's see what they offer.

I lost my complete sites root folder within the 1st month and all the files were gone. I raised a support ticket, as I wanted to know the reason, After chatting and calling them for 5 consecutive days, my support call was still in their queue and nothing was done to investigate the problem. I had to cancel my account with them, luckily within the money back period.

Worst service, actually no service. Hosting wasn't working and two days later they still hadn't fixed it. Tech support sucks, never again. Do yourselves a favour and don't choose these guys bunch of incompetent people who read you a script when you need support! If there tech support was as quick as there billing we wouldn't be having this discussion.

My experience with ehosts has been a disaster. They could not accept a third party SSL cert on my site. Because my site was built before I acquired the domain they suggested I built under a “false domain” file structure. They then supplied SSL and attached it not to the new domain I purchased but to the “false domain” making SSL unusable. They cancelled the SSL but after more than a month have not refunded me. Meanwhile I still could not purchase SSL for my new domain, possibly because of the legacy file structure. I requested that this be sorted out 2 1/2 months ago and support is appalling. I have now moved to another host and my whole hosting charges have been a waste. My chances of recovering them are slim and I have no trust in ehost at all, technically or financially.

I have been a customer for a little over 24 hours and so far I am not impressed at all. The first part was my mistake, I chose their web builder instead of cpanel during checkout, not realizing that I could not switch over if it was the incorrect option. The second part was their mistake. When getting my free domain, I unclicked one of the default charges they have for privacy settings, and it charged me an extra $10. There was no confirmation cart to show you what you are being charged before submission, so this really ticked me off as I know I had unclicked that option. Basically, their own website is buggy. Instead of being able to switch me over to cpanel, they told me that I have to wait 24 to 72 hours to cancel my account, and I would have to go through the entire process again, setting up a new account. Not to mention, I'd have to wait another 5 to 7 business days to get my money back. I tried calling them to get faster results and was just redirected back through their ticketing system. This shouldn't be news, but if you are calling, it's because you want faster results and don't want to have to wait for there online ticketing system. Anyways, it is now over 24 hours and I have not received a response, which is terrible response time for an online business and hosting. I am just going to cancel because it's already been more trouble than it's worth and it's left a really bad taste in my mouth. Don't bother with their online chatting, because you'll get boxed, prompted, answers, instead of anyone actually using their own common sense.

I bought an ehost account for 2years when saw the ratings is some of the web hosting ranking. However, just in few days I realize that the uptime is not good at all. My website was down more than 50% of the time.

I asked them for a refund and it was little painful to wait all the time. I got a partial refund, they cut $15 for 2days service.

My advice if interested to buy a service better get a trial one with hosting company. Hostgator gives a trial period, I bought hosting just a dollar for a month and Uptime a very good. I will probably go with them.

I have purchased ehost hosting 3 days earlier. They said that they import big sql file for you. I asked 2 database file to move. My website is offline for more than 16 hours but they didn't moved it. When I asked to do it little faster they said lot of other customer is in queue. I was surprised with this answer and asked if they can do it faster or I will move out. They rudely said you can cancel your hosting.
The worst part is that their sql import timeout, even for 7 mb sql file. And how one can rely on such rude and bad support ?

We went from Wix to EHost and I must say Im very very disappointed. They need your credit card information and if you are so unlucky that you click on a addon they automatically invoice you and take the money from your card. If you tell them that you only wanted to learn more about the addon before buying they say that they cant return the money because its a addon. This is a very bad way to do business. If you want to delete your credit card its impossible!! I will never recommend this company for anyone. The only whay for us is to cancel the whole thing and leave them for good.

I have had an utterly awful experience with eHosts.

They offered £100 in free adwords vouchers. However, upon signing up I discovered that this was only available to people in the US.

I requested a refund. 5 weeks later, I am still waiting for a refund. I am calling customer services every week for an "update".

Please, I urge you to look elsewhere for hosting.

I really want to like this service provider. The features are rich and they appear to offer a bit of flexibility. They have a simple point and click for those who simply want to get something going and a cPanel option with multiple add ons for those who want more control.
However, after multiple calls to support, I can not access my Domain, nor can anyone else. The website name simply is not associated with an ip address. That is demonstrated by ns lookup and ping both returning "not found". Interestingly enough the ip address is found. Apparently something has been dropped on the eHost side, but I can't get anyone to address this. The responses I did receive from support were simply cut and paste garbage from their knowledge base that did not address the problem. I am not sure if their support is being done by inadequate AI or people who do not bother to read the problem statement or people who do not have the training to understand the problem. This is most unsatisfactory. This is not a product or company one can work with.

Hi, I'm a Web & Graphic Designer sinc more than 8 years. I have tried few Hosting provider over the few years. I have moved to eHost from Hostgator because of a much better deal. I have bough a 3 year hosting plan for my website http://hpeter.me. As I'm dealing with clients payments I use Stripe for Credit card payments, so to make it secure I have purchased an SSL certificate. Unfortunately the Certificate does not works with subdomains. eHosts forgot to tell about it on their offer. So I contacted support asking for refund but they responded with a link to their TOS they can not refund this service.

They telling you about Refunds, but it is just a great Marketing... If you will actually request they will gives you a link to their TOS and you can [email protected] off....

If you need PROFESSIONAL service I DO NOT recommend eHost because they are very far from that! They need to learn a lot. I'm very disappointed with them and their service and I feel cheated a little.

I have paid the hosting service for 3 years which is good, and I will stay with them over this period of time.

I have been a client of ehosts for a few month now. I host my site newptcsites.us through them. The have exceptional support and immense amount of features that are available to use for free. I cannot really think of anything negative to say. the only drawback that I personally don't like is the cPanel interface that comes default with ehost. However, with this interface comes with a function to access all of your websites in one location. There have been no major drawbacks to service or functionality and I have since had no down time. I have tried many different hosts in the last 10 years and for the value to feature ratio, ehost takes the prize.

Support is terrible! I have waited for a response to what they say is a glitch in their system to install a new credit card. I called twice and they said there was a ticket in for it. I called again and informed support that I was waiting for a response, however, there is still no response. My site was easy to set up but support is not good.I believe that there are many way to handle this...Even resetting the site to start over new again but that is not happening. I spend more time just sitting on line waiting for an answer to my call but no luck! Lots of wasted time!!!

Really, really good support with email, phone and online chat options. The latter is especially convenient and helpful. Problems resolved every time. The sitebuilder is one of the best, most professional and easiest to use I've ever experienced - very powerful - and control over mobile view design is also excellent. Just a couple of small caveats. With cpanel you get unlimited email addresses under your domain, but with sitebuilder you only get one and have to pay for additional accounts. This wasn't explained early doors. Also, on sitebuilder, you can easily end up deleting your entire website when you are in the manage emails section. Think along the lines of "Delete email account" - click - "Are you sure you want to delete your email account" - click - "Your website has been deleted." Aaaaaaaagggghhhhhh.

Other wise though, besides these two real schoolboy errors, I can't recommend ehost enough. A great provider.

I am using eHost.com to create a web site that includes a simple Contact Us form. Per my experience with other hosting sites, and eHosts own instructions, I chose to use SMTP SSL when setting up the email form. The result was 3 minute response time from eHost.com from when the submit button is pressed to when the response is received back from eHost that the email has been successfully received. That means that the user has to wait 3 minutes to see the Thank You for Contacting Us screen. I contacted support, and was instructed to not use SSL, which reduced the response time to 10 seconds. I asked if the 3 minute response time for SSL requests was what I should expect, and was told, "yes." I tried the same form using SSL with my regular email provider, and received instantaneous response. This suggests that something is not right with the way eHosts is handling SSL requests. If I ever wanted to take credit cards, I would be forced to find another hosting solution.

Regarding various features, eHost is fine. They have a lot of capabilities for file management, email account creation, etc., so no complaints there. But the SSL thing really seems beyond the pale...

Amazing value for money, to be able to make a website like the one I did, as easily as I did, in the time that I did, for the money I paid, it's simply unbelievable. I'm so proud of what I made and I did it all just with £4, an internet connection and 10 minutes!

If you need a website for any reason, I highly suggest eHost as they are way more than a website hosting company! I agree totally with the other customer reviews, eHost ROCKS! Honestly, try them for yourself, it's extremely cheap, and if I built the website that I did, the possibilities are endless!

I signed up and my welcome email included wrong name servers and IP address, I wasted a lot of time trying to get things to work and emailed support.
Received an email with apology and correct IP but other name servers that were also incorrect, so wasted more time trying to get things to work.
I did not get clear and full log in details to FTP my files and thought I needed to create a new FTP account, not realizing that now all files were going to a different folder, resulting in the website being off line for some time until a very long phonecall from Australia to the US got it sorted out.
Finally now my site is working but during the downtime Google did the monthly crawl and my site has dropped significantly in the rankings with a load of rubbish as description which will cost me a lot of business until this will recover again.
I deeply regret moving my site to this host.

I love eHost because it's simply brilliant value for money. I have used cPanel hosting sites in the past and I wanted a change so I opted for eHost! If you want to experience the future of website management, spend 15 minutes with eHost's in-house drag and drop website building software - You will be blown away! (I was)

I'd not had a chance to see how their support handle technical queries, which would have been interesting as I've had bad experiences with customer support representatives from other hosting companies in the past. I have given a 4/5 as I assume it to be as good as every other aspect of the service.

Overall, a very fulfilling web hosting service, I highly recommend them.

eHost.com

ehost.com
Location:TX, USA
Founded:1996
Pros: Free domain name , Unlimited Storage , Free advertising credits
Cons: Shared hosting only

eHost Introduction

eHost is a US-based hosting company, originally founded in 1996. The company was purchased by the Endurance International Group in 2010, and is now one of its key brands in the low-cost, beginner hosting market. It is based out of Houston, Texas in the United States, where its datacenter is also located.

Services and Specializations

eHost keeps things very simple, with just one Linux shared hosting package. The plan includes unmetered storage space and bandwidth. To get your site up and running quickly, a drag-and-drop website builder is included. One-click installers, including WordPress, Joomla and Drupal, are provided along with the hosting account. All customers can set up unlimited email addresses, databases, and domains. Advertising credits are included to give your site a head-start on AdWords and the Yahoo/Bing ad network.

The plan also includes a sitebuilder tool, a domain name, and a variety of ecommerce scripts and packages to help you get a store online. The price advertised is an introductory rate, so its likely that you'll pay a higher price when it's time to renew.

Bear in mind that unmetered bandwidth isn't necessarily unlimited on shared hosting plans. Companies like eHost monitor users to make sure their usage falls within an acceptable range. Few business websites will exceed normal resource consumption, but if you run lots of scripts, you may be asked to upgrade. Running bandwidth-intensive services, like file download websites, is usually prohibited on these kinds of plans.

Although eHost's support material refers to VPS and dedicated servers, these don't currently seem to be available for purchase.

Support and Customer Service

Support is available 24/7 via phone, live chat, and email. eHost says that phone calls will be answered in less than 2 minutes. There are also a range of online tutorials covering basic hosting administration tasks.

If you need to migrate your site from another host, you'll have to do this yourself. Migration assistance isn't provided. If you're moving from a cPanel host, the move should be relatively straightforward, since eHost also provides cPanel. Moving from a host with a different control panel could be technically complex, and is a task for experienced users only.

Infrastructure and Backups

eHost uses 24 hour network monitoring. All personal information for your account, such as credit card data, is collected using SSL security and stored on secure servers. The company offers limited information on its datacenter, other than its location. It's CyrusOne, a facility in Houston, Texas.

Business customers and healthcare professionals should note that eHost is not HIPAA compliant. PCI compliance is also not guaranteed on its shared hosting plans.

eHost maintains automated backups for all servers, but those only run once per week. What's more, backups are only stored for a single week before being replaced. Any account that uses more than 20 gigabytes of data will not be included in this backup scheme. eHost will back up the customers' databases, but not the files. If you are concerned about data loss, it's always a good idea to set up your own backup solution.

Uptime Guarantee

eHost offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, not including scheduled maintenance. If it fails to meet that guarantee, you may be eligible for a one-month account credit. You'll be expected to provide evidence of the excessive downtime within 30 days of the end of the month, and the final decision will be down to eHost.

Billing and Cancellation Policies

eHost accepts payment via major credit cards, bank wire transfers, Western Union, checks, and money orders. The eHost plan is auto-renewed, unless other arrangements have been made. It is up to the customer to ensure their payment information remains up-to-date to avoid late payment, as any accounts not paid within 15 days of the invoice date may be suspended or terminated.

eHost offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on shared hosting services. Any cancellations within that time, for first-time buyers, will receive a full refund, minus the cost of domain registration. You'll need to request cancellation, then write to the support department to ask for your refund within 90 days. If you miss this step, you won't receive a refund.

Cancellations after 30 days may result in a prorated refund, though this is left to eHost's discretion.

Conclusion

If you need a basic, shared hosting solution that will allow you to quickly set up your online presence with little hassle, eHost offers the right solution. This isn't necessarily a business-grade hosting service, but it's designed to give you the basics that you'll need to build your first store or blog. eHost customers benefit from competitive prices and a good foundation; the inclusion of cPanel is a big plus point, for example. There are no VPS packages on offer, so upgrading may mean moving to another host, but eHost's basic shared hosting should get your site up and running.
