We have over 65 domains with Host Gator and the only issue we had was that every time you talk to support you get an email of a new password, so it has been very difficult to keep up with that. But as of now we had viruses attack our emails and in the process of cleaning up we asked for Gator Host's help to work with our IT support. It has been so difficult getting their help on a more complex issue. I have been working with them for a week and still not resolved. I would NOT recommend ANYONE including my worst enemy to Host Gator!!!! Every time you call customer service you get a different answer, no past notes are really left for the next person that you speak to, I talked to 5 different people in one day and had 5 different answers. Good Luck to you and to be honest I wish we were with Go Daddy!!!

"In order for us to setup your account, we will need you to call us and verify your account.

... I send my Drive License! but they don't activate it.
Big trouble without meaning.
Eventually i send a request for cancel my account i hope they will send my money back.

A few months back, I decided to switch from a small host to HostGator, since a lot of my business associates and friends assured me that they were worth every penny. Ever since I migrated all my sites there, I've noticed that things have become more stable, so I only have to worry about maintaining the quality of the content.

HostGator says that they have 99.9% uptime, and that is certainly true. I've never had any issues with them at all. For those that don't have a lot of technical experience when it comes to uploading scripts or adding domains, HG has 24/7 live chat support, and their team can help you with all your needs. I always tell others that the support alone is worth the monthly fee. Other hosts might require you to send emails back and forth, which could take up to a week to solve your problems, but all is solved in a simple chat session with these guys.

There are also a lot of extras that are included in the packages, such as $100 AdWords vouchers, and script installers such as Fantastico. Anyone that is considering to switch or find a new host, HostGator is the company for you.

After reading all the reviews -there were a couple of negative ones which impressed me- I decided to try Hostgator basically due to their 45 days moneyback guarantee, since I was not very sure of what I was going to find. After a month or so, my experience couldn´t have been better. I got a dedicated server which is really fast. They managed the migration process of a 50gb website. Their support is outstanding, both on and offline. They even helped me with source code issues (I doubt any other support in the world would do that) and made adjustments to php.ini and .htacess files when necessary (and explained why they did it). The ticket system answers are amazing: they read what you write, and return detailed explanations of what is wrong, and how to fix it. I´ve never worked neither with WHN nor with Cpanel before, but with their help I could deal with both softwares rather peacefully. This is definitely a five star service; I have no complains at all and I strongly recommend Hostgator.

HostGator really sucks because of my personal experience with them. I have spent hours on the phone with them, sent countless emails and support request about all my site being down. My server not being available and all they could come with to charge me a $15 fee to reload my week old back files. They can't explain why my files and server disappeared at all. I could go on and on about them so what's the point. They have thousands of affiliates all over the world selling for them and give rave reviews. Remember, pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Hostgator is the most unscrupulous online company I have ever dealt with. After signing up for the service and paying with my credit card they sent me an email asking for a photo of my passport to "Verify" who I am.

When I called the company they told me that this is standard practice.

Funny. No one else I know of that used Hostgator had received an email asking for this, nor would they have provided it if asked.

They sent me several emails insisting that I send this information via email or fax.

Yet another endurance international company. Horrible everything now. Its amazing how fast eig ruins a host, first bluehost. also needed to move my domains from dotster because eig bought them too. just plain sad and pathetic.

Very disappointed with this host. I'm not sure what is happening, but obviously firewall problems have corrupted all of the sites. So, when it's Christmas and your an eCommerce doing very minimal business, you'll know. Bandwidth is a joke (no such thing as unlimited), RUN RUN RUN. Now I have to look to move somewhere else or do my own hosting, which isn't that difficult people. Just do some homework.

Hostgator.com is probably the best web host I have every hosted with. I had no uptime problems and their support is great. The only downside is that they have a long waiting time for their support. Hostgator is recommended for anyone who wants to start a personal or a business website. I would happily recommend Hostgator to everyone.

Coming to the features and support they provide us with cPanel and a account management area where one can track their payment and services.

If you need some support then you need to raise ticket no need to go to their website as the chat takes little bit of time so just mail them and you will be assigned a support ticket so once someone replies to your ticket you get notified via mail.

So that's also not bad still I think if you need to host some small sites or if you are starting out with your website then you must go with them.

Been using HostGator for years... until a string of recent problems left me with no other choice but to move all of my servers to a major competitor in the Linux VPS space. I battled with tech support to investigate the issues, which one technician flat out told me he would not do. I fought it, and it ended up being a firewall configuration error on their side. HostGator seems to have turned into a bureaucracy where the left and does not know what the right hand is doing. If you desire cost over quality, by all means go with HostGator. But any seasoned professional will probably (and naturally) gravitate to a VPS hosting provider offering more flexibility, power, and better support.

HostGator is a great site for companies that want to have there sites hosted there. HostGator is not a great website register with LaunchPad. HostGator is dedicated 24/7 support with employees that love helping there customers.

I have been a loyal Hostgator user for over 7 years. I recently added a new account for a client who needed to use email via the email clients that Hostgator offers. After I set this up, I found out that Hostgator refused to enable the built in spell check feature in the Roundcube and Squirrel Mail email clients the provide. When I asked them to enable it, they told me they would not do so and the only want I could have a spell check feature on my account was to upgrade to a dedicated server at a minimum cost of $33.00 a month.

What a joke. Other hosting providers offer spell check in the email clients they support, but Hostgator does not. Because of this I can NOT recommend using Hostgator.

I signed up for HostGator a week ago and had my files transferred from WordPress.com. It was a major decision to go self hosting and I wanted to make sure that I am choosing the best company. I read all the reviews and despite some of the bad reviews decided to give HostGator a chance. To be honest, I don't know why people complain about the service. I had fantastic service even before I officially signed up. The live chat support team were friendly,helpful and resolved my queries. I had to wait a little longer when I used the ticket system but response time was also fast.

Migrating my blog was stressful and I had no idea what to expect and how long the process would take. The Migrating guys were wonderful and transferred all the files and to make sure that everything was functioning properly. I couldn`t have done this without them! Best of all, it didn`t cost me anything and I had more than 400 posts and 7000 comments. They did a fantastic job.

The control panel offers a wide variety of options and tools and I am amazed to see what I can do. In my opinion this is real value for money!

Had been with hostgator for a few months, where in which i never had any such hosting issues, until within the last couple of weeks. For example, website being down repeatedly and with absolute astonishment, being blacklisted, site taken down with an empty ftp folder with any such regard of sending any such prior warning/s of my site "causing high loading issues on the server". Unfortunately, i will in no doubt be hosting elsewhere, preposterous means of business practice.

I was building a website for my local Political Party, so the expense wasn't mine. That being said, the pricing seemed fair.

Support was great.

I think they need a way to determine the skill level of each customer when a tech is entering into a conversation. One time, they did over complicate a question I had. The Tech seemed new, but still, if I could have rated my experience level for them, then they would not have had to spend time asking question that were unrelated to my query while wasting my time. I don't remember the specifics, but I needed an answer the the exact question I asked. We finally got there in the conversation, but the Tech kind of took me around the block a few times before we got there.

I did not have to spend much time or any time really, in talking to them for setting up my website. I did have problems being able to figure out where the links were so I could transfer a URL to the account. The service was great and response time was good when I needed help, but it just seemed like it was difficult too follow their labeling of categories to get to where I needed to go to do what I wanted to do.

Yes, I would recommend HostGator along with others. Over all the customer service was good, the pricing seems good, no problem with up times in the month I used their services.

The Host Gator support is phenomenal. They are very helpful and I never had an issue with them. There was a bit of down time recently but that was it. I recommend Host Gator! A low hosting price with unlimited storage and bandwidth.

I was a new account. I purchased the shared Windows hosting. I had several problems, and never got my site running with the tools they provided (Plesk).

1. I was unable to restore a backup of my SQL Server database. I tried two database backup files from two different SQL Server databases. Neither could be restored with their tool. It told me that the format of the database was not correct.
2. I read on their support site that I could use MS SQL Server Management Console to access my database. But it didn't describe what IP Address to use or what username to use. So I guessed, and I guessed correctly. However, I needed to get my development machine's IP Address white-listed in order to access the database remotely. Their white-list page didn't work. I contacted support and after 15 minutes, they were able to white-list my IP Address for me. I couldn't use their tool. Then I had to wait 1 hour before I could access the database, because the white-listed IP Address had to propagate through their system. Eventually, I was able to create the database objects and import data.
3. I uploaded my site via FTP. I had to change the database connection string in order to access the MSSQL DB. However, the site did not update. The same logic works on two other sites that run my application. It looked like the live site was running on some other server, because their index.aspx page always appeared, even after I deleted that page with FTP. So uploading your site via FTP will not update your site. And none of their tools would allow me to test my site. Those tools reported 404 errors and SSL certificate errors. I contacted support again. After 30 minutes, they admitted that their tools were buggy and didn't work most of the time.

So I cancelled my account.

Worst hosting provider ever. I switched to Bluehost because of how bad the customer service for hostgator is/was. They are 300% better in every way, but specifically for customer service. T

I signed up with Hostgator on Aug. 28th because I heard they rocked. It is now Sept. 15th and I still am having problems. I have spent over 9 hours online over this time with one rude, inept, and brainless inchworm they call their staff. I have over 42 emails. I have spoken to more the 14 people including "managers". All this nonsense just to switch hosting from GoDaddy to Hostgator. This was the WORST decision I ever made in my 20 years of business. If you are foolish enough to sign up with them, be prepared for hours of being on hold, listening to poorly trained vacuum headed bodies typing endlessly on the other end. What they are typing is beyond me. How Hostgator got their reputation is incomprehensible. I suspect it was the same story as ebay, yahoo, and all the other companies who struggled at the beginning by providing great service but then completely gave up once they got on top. I suggest before signing up with Hostgator you open the closest window and throw your money out as at least you have the chance someone on the street with no education might be able to give you better help. Hostgator sucks.

It cracks me up how HostGator.com brags about their support. Everyone seems to think that they offer good support, but I'm finding otherwise. Their hold times are consistently 20 minutes or longer, their systems and admin panels are confusing, they don't have any obvious links on their site which point to common features such as signing in to your account, transferring websites or files, cancelling subscriptions, etc.

Because I am a web designer, I tried signing up for their hosting reseller plan. The admin panel for managing websites was soooo confusing! I called the support line, and after waiting on hold for 20 minutes, the support tech directed me to a 100 page online manual and then left me hanging.

Their chat hold times are consistently longer than their phone hold times, and the response time for each question that I ask is about 5 minutes. It's obvious that the person is juggling 50 customers at a time.

When I do finally get a hold of one of their agents, I feel like I have to twist their arm for a thorough, concise, and detailed answer.

I hate to say it, but GoDaddy support is WAY BETTER! However, GoDaddy servers are slow. I guess the bottom line is, pick your poison.

I have been paying for my site for 3 months now and have yet to figure out how to create a page. I've deleted certain photos that a friend, who is trying to build the site for me uploaded and they are STILL showing up on my site! For me this is by far the most difficult website I have ever tried to use. It is not user friendly. I've tried several times to create a webpage only to become so frustrated that I end up giving up. Why I am still paying for it is beyond me. Sigh!

They provide free whmcs, that's the point, it is very good feature. It is very valuable.
But sometimes not very well, like uptime, sometimes have problem.

Their customer service is terrible. They made me pay for their mistakes and refused a refund. When you get a customer service representative they are not autonomous and cannot make any actual decisions. Half the time they have a script and don't know what they are doing.

The worst possible host you could ever Use, i have been with them for a while and never have i been so mistreated and so belittles by such a Incremental low grade host, the staff are rude and the web hosting is slow and choppy, never in my whole entire life will i ever use hostgator again.

The support is second to none! I'm not really much of a tech head and I find that they deal with my questions and problems, really fast and very politely - no matter how stupid my question probably is!
Also, my sites load way faster than they did previously.

Do not use hostgator to host a professional website. You will have serious issues with their 404 error pages.

The default 404 error page is loaded with hostgator advertisements, it makes you look terribly un-professional.

Hostgator claims to let you change this by modifying the .htaccess file so that you can have a custom 404 error page. THIS BARELY WORKS.

Frequently you will find that:
- the .htaccess file doesn't correctly apply to all sub-folders
- It randomly deletes itself and reverts to the default one

Their support is USELESS on this issue. They just direct you to the "Custom 404 error page" tutorial, and they claim that its working fine even when it isn't.

Its very angering that they don't have an un-bloated 404 error page. Hostgator makes money off of your 404 error pages, which probably explains why their support is so useless on the issue, and why they won't make the default 404 error page unbranded.

DO NOT GO WITH HOSTGATOR UNTIL THEY UNBRAND THEIR 404 ERROR PAGES.

Support resolved some problems I had within my DNS within a 5 minute period. They have a nice FAQ and it's recommended to newbies who want a domain. I would definitely recommend it as your first and last host.

So far no good. For a week now I am trying to migrate my site from mobileme, no luck. Support is quick, but useless. Just asked for my money back, since I cannot get my site published on HostGator.

Host gator is honest, and will do what exactly they said.

I wish I had known that they do not understand their own server environment. They simply turned off our website because they said it was "draining services" - and copied and pasted something into a ticket in cpanel - no notification via email that there was a problem. They said it had to do with too many plugins in wordpress probably - which was ridiculous based on the fact I run over 65 websites similarly without a problem. When I looked at what they had copied and pasted it looked like a denial of service attack. I suspected a hack.

The 1st level tech person was clueless - she could maybe have the skills to check some one out at a cash register, but not analyze a technical problem. She insisted "it wasn't true" that there was a hack and refused to escalate to a sys admin.

I hired an outside person to do a quick review and they found the hack - fixed it -all in 15 minutes. Now hours later Host Gator has still not returned the site to normal.

Unprofessional to say the least. Maybe you have had luck with them - but it only takes one big problem like this to discover what their capabilities really are.

PS - I harden my sites and doing weekly QAs to ensure WordPress is secure, but they still manage to find a way in sometimes. Upon calling HG they said, oh we could have scanned it for you too - but how could they when their front-line tech was too clueless to escalate it?

I have multiple accounts at Host Gator and as much as a pain it is, I will have to move everything after this experience. It's usually a sign of things to come.

The only thing I think they should add is cheap domain names. I have to hold the domain on one provider for a cheaper price. But so far for the last few month, the service and customer support has been great.

I'd been looking for a host service that could provide one feature: python language support. Since I was trying to manage a small python project, I thought it could be done by any hosting server advertising such feature. Having read positive reviews about hostgator hosting service made me take the decision to choose them. But never a single one script written by me ran in their server. I tried to contact their technical support, took a long time to reach any available support and, when I got, they never solved the issue. I explained what was happening clearly and repeatedly, I followed all their instructions to the letter like changing files permissions, changing the file editor (used simple plain notepad and even their on-line text editor) in order to have my small project going. It took me days and dozens of e-mails, but none of my python scripts ever ran, whatever they asked me or even whatever I did in order to have it working. So I'd like to leave this warning to any ptyhon coder, since I had never found any warning like this before I picked thier service: Python never worked for me in their host. If you're considering coding in python, choose other host. And review both the ones that worked fine and the ones that never worked at all, to help newbies and other programmers in general to avoid wasting time and money.

Customer service representatives are rude once you finally get a hold of one.

This company lied to me from the beginning. Told me that I could just SSH into their
servers and edit my files in the normal UNIX way.

Not so .... after many calls, I discovered that this was NOT true.

I told them to delete my account and stop any charges ... they continued to

They are liars! I could not use them, and they knew that from the beginning.

Hostgator is the best service provider i have ever met. they are ready to help at 24 hrs live through chat without any hesitation and any kind of script errors. I love there service.

I decided to give HostGator a try after hearing good reviews about them. Unfortunately I was not very impressed.

They have a cool customized cPanel, where you can add stuff like Cloudflare and sign up for SEO services. You can even create a basic website.

I did not experience any downtime on my website and loading was fast.

However, I had problems with their 24/ support. I found that none of the support technicians knew anything about web hosting.
-I asked for the technician to add an additional domain to my account (to host 2 websites) and all he did was add a subdomain to my existing site
-On another occasion, I asked the support staff to help me with .htaccess. The person didn't even know what .htaccess was!

In conclusion, I would not recommend that you use HostGator. The staff don't know anything about webhosting, and there are many smaller companies which offer Unlimited hosting with 24/7 support(from actual technicians) for $1/month.

Our move over to Hostgator came as a surprise to many including us after having spent so long down in the bowels of free web hosting we were reasonably happy making the best of what was on offer though our long suffering hosts were slighty less than thrilled as we took our site to edge of the acceptable useage policy and bandwidth routinely.

So when the email arrived with an offer of a proper domain name plus hosting for year on the condition we moved the site and stopped posting workarounds to beat the limitations of free web hosting for the newbies in the hosts forum we reluctantly had to agree.

We looked at several providers on both sides of the Atlantic as we're UK based and after reading countless reviews and complaints posted in forums opted for Hostgator. For us they ticked all the right boxes, being well established, lenient acceptable content policy, prompt informative replies to our pre-signup questions and they accepted PayPal.

Initially there was some trepidation when we fired the site back up as it moves a fair bit of data around the web and the database is tad larger than most hobby or business sites but so far our fears have been unfounded and all is running sweetly.

Setting up the account was completely painless despite our UK telephone number and Welsh postal address but we are used to saying our street name phonetically so when customer services rang to verify that we were genuine there was definitely an air of relief in our colonial friend.

It's an ideal host for novices featuring one click installs for the most common 'instant website' packages like Wordpress and the FAQ's are pure distilled wisdom as opposed to the more common self help forums favoured by many budget hosts that serve only as breeding grounds for trolls.

I have had my business site and several blogs hosted by HostGator under two accounts for several years and have not had any significant problems with their hosting. They have had excellent uptime (monitered by third party and well in excess of their guarantee).

On the several occasions that I have used their technical support for advanced configuration and for assistance with moving the blogs to their servers initially they have been extremely courteous and helpful every time. They actually moved my blogs from another hosting company and everything worked immediately other than a minor issue with a bridge plugin between Wordpress and Gallery 2 which required administrator rights on both to correct.

HostGator always send an email asking the customer to rate the customer service and they pay attention to what the customer says as shown by their followup of the rating.

Reseller plan is great. I wish I would have known about that before I started, but they give you credit for your previous plan, so it was an easy decision to upgrade!

I recently signed up for HostGator for my new fansite which I was switching over from a free host, since it was growing a bit big for free hosting.

The first thing I loved was that there are many coupons for 1 cent for the first month. I got to try my first month for just a cent. I signed up for the hatchling plan, only because I needed to host 2 domains.

First of all, I paid with Paypal (which is a plus in my opinion). However, after I signed up, I got the message that my account was suspended. I contacted support and they told me that they needed me to verify my account by calling a number with the phone number associated with my account. I went ahead and did that, and then contacted support again to see if they could unsuspend me. However, they then said they had no records of my calling in and verifying my account, so I argued with them and told them I called them and even had records on my phone. However, then one of their staff called me and got it solved with me so I could use my account.

One of the best things about HostGator is their uptime. Pages load very fast for me, and I never saw my site down once.

Overall, I would really recommend HostGator!

I love hostgator's hosting plans! They can fit anyone! The one downside is that their sitebuilders aren't the best. They do have blogging platforms though Wich kinda make up for their lack of sitebuilders.

It is a good site with lots of hosting features. It has pretty much anything you can think of. I have never has any problems with my site crashing or being hacked with hostgator. I have been with Host Gator for more than three years now. When I switched to them I was upset of my previous hosts downtime and constant excuses of why my site was down. I purchased Host Gator's Business Plan. I will admit I was a bit annoyed how they stated you would receive "unlimited" disk space, but I went ahead to give them a run for my money. I had everything up in running within 10 minutes or less.

They hide nothing in their plans, I was expecting exactly what I had received. Whenever I needed their support, at any time of the day, there were always live support agents there and able to fix the problem immediately. Customers need absolutely no advanced level of technical expertise.

Host Gator is suitable for anyone, from people looking to buy a great dedicated server, or VPS, to people looking to host their community or family website.

I would highly recommend Host Gator, they seriously are one of the best hosts for shared hosting. I've never had a problem with them, not once, in three years.

I am using HG since 2008. Their uptime is really nice, as well as other services. I have also used GoDaddy and Hostmonster. Almost same quality server. But the big difference is HostGator's support. They provide very quick solution, and that is the main reason I am staying with them. And their performance is going up day by day. That's the reason why HG is number one.

You can feel how different HostGator is from the minute you register your domain. They have great support (They helped me fix a huge bug in minutes - for free!) and an excellent interface. I couldn't recommend them enough.

Some time ago I started hosting my website on HostGator and my 6 month plan has now ended.

I've only seen my website offline a few times (three at the most) and those were always short periods. The website runs well most of the time but unfortunately it gets slow sometimes.

I have required support a few times and I always got my problem fixed, although their support was a bit slow.

About the features, they've got unlimited disk space and bandwidth for all the plans. They have CPanel and I never had any feature I required missing.

The price is pretty decent compared to other hosts.

Overall I can say I'm happy with HostGator's service and will for sure host my future websites there.

I run a very small business and wanted to set up a small online store to expand. I was pretty dismayed to find that the majority of hosting options aimed at e-commerce were either horribly expensive or very light on appropriate features.

After a week of swearing at my PC I came across HostGator who offer cheap hosting plans with lots and lots of features, space and bandwidth and for anyone setting up shop they also offer very affordable business hosting which includes free private IP address and SSL. Got pretty excited about that I can tell you.

I've been with them for about a month now and I haven't tried all the features but I can tell you that the customer service is about the best I've encountered - I'm not in the U.S. so I use the live chat rather than the phone number. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get through and more often than not it's less than a minute and they have answered every question, niggle and problem I've had.

There are plenty of add-ons, the control panel is a breeze and I have got way more disk space and bandwidth than my little business is likely to need. Very happy so far.

Couple of niggles - you seem to need a different username and password for every feature. 1 to access your web disk, 1 to access the ticket system, 1 to access your billing and account area, 1 to access their site builder software. It gets very confusing.
It's also quite difficult finding your way around their site. It's not immediately obvious where to log in to access your account information and so on.

One last thing - the prices advertised on their main page are not necessarily the best prices they offer. I would recommend having a hunt around the review sites for HostGator discount codes.

I can highly recommend HostGator for anyone wanting to set up an e-commerce store.

HG is one of the most reliable and affordable solutions on the global market.
Their features are suitable for both professionals and newbies. The Cpanel administration is running very effectively, almost any updates/requests/changes are applying immediately. No need for waiting on cron jobs. Its almost like you have a VPS, but without the hassle of maintaining and updating the envoriment.
The only bad thing about HG, it that although it has stable and reliable response times, and stuff, its not a speedy solution.
The good thing is they sell VPS appliances also, so you'll always have an option to upgrade if its neccesary.
Basically I recommend them.

The best thing about Hostgator, in my opinion, is their stellar support. Live chat is the most helpful method to get questions answered quickly and effectively. The other important thing for me is also that they helped me when I did mess up things on my sites, previous hosts I used just answered 'You messed it up, you solve the problem' Hostgator support takes just a deep breath and gets me out of my self-inflicted problems. I feel hostgator is great. I got hosting a while back from them and never regret it. I did have some issues with some scripts. These quickly got resolved via live chat. Only one issue had to get escalated to an admin via ticket, Again, Quickly resolved. The value is fantastic for "unlimited hosting". I feel they have done a little bit of false advertising with the fact if you change the cpanel theme you see its space cap is 99999GB. Nobody will ever use this but it is still not unlimited space, However i do not care about this! The support is fantastic and so is the staff that provide it. I know 4 staff out of work and am in close contact with them just from that chat, In the first week. They handled problems very well and if chat cannot resolve it, They escalate an issue to an admin via ticket. I would recommend hostgator to others by a mile. THe servers are great speed too most of the day. This hosting is only suitable for small websites however. If you have a site too big, You may use the resource limit, Such as RAM and Cpu. I heard if you do this they suspend your account until you move to a VPS or Dedicated server, But this may be false. I wish i knew hostgator a long time ago.

I have hosted a website with HostGator for over a year. They are very quick to answer my question and assist me if I need it. Customers at HostGator don't need much expertise in keeping a website together because HostGator offers a wide variety of information and walk-troughs in their support website. Employees at HostGator always handle their customers questions with very detailed answers and quick responses.

Hostgator has never given me problems... and If I've had one, its always been super easy to get help. The support is fantastic. You can submit a ticket through a web-mail based form and it will most likely be responded to within the same hour. I've also had live chats with them and they really know what they're talking about, they aren't untrained professionals off in India or anything. I have a baby plan, and I host about 10 domains on it now. Even when I forgot to pay for up to 2 weeks after due date (oopss :)), they put my domains back up within minutes of submitting a new invoice. They almost give me too much leeway, I've done it more than twice :)

HostGator, what better can you ask for out of a company? I am currently on their shared hosting plan and oh boy if you did not know better it is just like a VPS (only you cannot restart it of course). On the Business Plan HostGator partnered with VoIP; so if your small business needs hosting VoIP gives you a free toll free number which is fantastic!

I wish I knew that HostGator does not allow incoming ports but they were kind enough to open the outbound ports. That is one of the main features that are a problem as well as there domain transfer/renewal/purchase of $15 which is a bit pricey.

Although $15 is a bit a lot; no doubt has that $15 gone to a great support system. You have the ability to contact HostGator via Live Support, a Support Ticket, or via their Toll Free Number. HostGator, although having a wait time longer than HostMonster; exceeds in their support system. They are definitely a step above HostMonster with the server technology but has yet to reach the step of HostMonster and their support system. Nevertheless, HostGator always pulls through with a 15 MINUTE OR LESS usually pickup time on their Toll Free Number line.

I have yet to report one downtime on my server longer than 10 minutes. They are always willing to win your side with Script, PHP, and MYSQL support; I had my forum programming go whack and the HostGator support team of course fixed it.

For customers, it is the normal website host that does not involve a large Linux enviornment but rather knowledge of cPanel is easier. For those clients that aren't quite as good, HostGator provides a Site Maker which is fantastic for new clients into the website hosting world.

HostGator is overall aimed toward the Business World of course they have personal plans such as their $4.95 a month plan, to their big corporate dedicated servers. The majority of their features however benefit small to medium sized businesses. Even though they are looking for business clients with their Dedicated IP, SSH, VoIP Partnership, and such of that nature; I would recommend HostGator to a friend for one and one sole reason. You won't get as much bang for your buck, support this fast, and server this fantastic unless you are with HostGator.

If you dread to read this review; basically HostGator gets a 4.5/5. 5 for Features (From SSH to Dedicated IP), 5 for Uptime (Have experienced one downtime of ten minutes), 5 for Value (They give you a 45 day money back guarantee if you do not like it!), and 4 for support (May not be as fast support as HostMonster but they do just as good). There are some qualities every customer wants when it comes to hosting. I have recently tried hostgator.com and I believe I have come across one of the best web hosts.
There are many reasons for this.
For one, they gave me {for 2 months now} 100% up time. What good is a site if it's down? I like the fact that they use cpanel since it is most convenient to use and it's popular so most people find it easier to navigate through. They also offer google ad credits ($50) which I still have to use.
One time I contacted them regarding my phpbb forum. I contacted them through the live chat. NOT EVERY HOST OFFERS FREE LIVE CHAT - but hostgator offers live support 24/7. So I thought these guys would have no idea about phpbb, but I ended up wrong as the rep fixed the problem for me own her own. These guys also have a forum {which they monitor, so if you need help with something they can help you through the forum) , which I have not used yet.
Really I don't know what to say anymore but that I am extremely impressed by everything these guys do.

HostGator is a good hosting site for new and pro website owners alike but, they do lack in some areas. The process for hosting your domain name with HostGator is made easy with their simple steps signup and will have your site up and running within minutes. The control panel and features are similar to many other hosting sites that I have used before. When it comes to setting your website you can use their site builder tools that apply a template in which you can do certain fixes to. Now I have only come across to consistent problems with HostGator would be their technical support and up time. Recently the server in which my site is hosted on has gone down three times. I have been a customer of HostGator since 3 years. And all this time, their service has been great, in terms of site uptime and technical support. Their hosting feature offers many features which are useful not only for novice customers but also to technical persons like Web developers or programmers.

The ability to host multiple domains under 1 hosting account, unlimited email accounts, unlimited bandwidth/ mysql and one click install of popular web scripts are some of the hosting features which needs to be noteable.

My husband and I were hosted by Hostgator.com a few years ago, no more than 2 years ago really. We picked Hostgator to be hosted by because as, back then, frequent DP posters we seen plenty of Hostgator reviews which were 90% positive. So, based on the good reviews, we decided to give them a try.

We were pretty happy at first but the support staff was not very good and always seemed to never be able to answer any of our questions through the live chat. They always directed us to submit a ticket for even the smallest things which of course we were pretty frustrated with because we usually needed an answer then and not wait an hour (sometimes more) to receive a response...For that matter, a correct or even a response that made sense. In the end, we decided to move on but we shared our experience with our honest opinions about the support.

While sharing our experience with others, my husband was contacted by the owner of Hostgator and after some discussion about our experience, he offered free hosting for 6 months. We were astonished! We never seen an owner of a company that cared enough to not only listen but to do something to correct the problem. I have hosted hundreds of sites on thousands of servers and I have to say, HG is by far the best, most well mannered, most customer oriented team I have even seen.
