I was referred to SiteGroud by a friend who has worked in the web design industry for a while. I decided to listen to him, and their pricing was very similar to the other options I had been looking at. He said the main advantage of SiteGround is their unbelievable after-sale service. I was very unhappy today because I was unable to access my email accounts and update my website. I spent a lot of time troubleshooting and rebooting. I then contacted Siteground support and had to ask if Siteground was down or something. He checked and stated that my IP was blocked due to too many wrong login attempts. I can understand why my IP was blocked but the process needs to be fixed. If a customer's IP address is blocked, an email or phone call should be made to the customer to notify him or her so that time wouldn't be wasted by the customer troubleshooting.

Siteground is a good host with good support and it makes me feel that they know their staff. I did not have a complaint about them in the 2 years I have been working with them. The uptime is excellent and the support is fast and helpful. I rated SiteGround as 5 stars because of the outcome, the end result. The journey along the way was fraught with misinformation, confusion, and frustration. What I wanted to accomplish was transfer a domain name from GoDaddy over to SiteGround. I wanted to transfer the name only not the data. I was told in a chat session which transfer request to submit and that it would take 24 hours. In follow-up conversations, it became clear I had been told to submit the wrong request and that it would take 5 business days to complete the transfer. The trouble ticket I had submitted was clear in my instructions but your staff did not read them thoroughly and stated off wanting to transfer all the data.

Additionally I was told that I would need to check every day at SiteGround to see when the “Pending Transfer” was completed when in fact I never needed to do that, you folks told me via e-mail when it was complete.

Overall your support staff was concerned with doing a good job but several of them seemed lacking knowledge in the steps and procedures required to accomplish the task.

Svetoslav G. was the last person I communicated with and he was very knowledgeable and competent. He got the job done. It is still not clear how my free domain name could have been pending in process when I never discussed that with any of your staff but that is a minor issue. He did get the free domain name set up. A couple of other staff members along the way were very good as well but I did not retain their names.

I look forward to working with SiteGround after this mildly rough start. I hope I did not make a mistake by signing up for 6 years of service.

SiteGround's IMAP email works the best with Apple devices that I have been able to find. I originally set up an account with you to run a WordPress site. Then I decided to keep my old site. In the meantine I set up an email account with you guys and it worked awesomely. Everything sync'd perfectly between my phone, tablet, and computer. I currently have my domain registered with GoDaddy but I have never been able to get their email to sync correctly. BEST TECHNICAL SUPPORT TEAM HANDS DOWN. No other Host compares. Being new to hosting my own domains, I totally rely on SiteGrounds technical team to assist me with setting up my domain, setting redirects, domain registrar etc. They are really friendly and know what they are doing. I've tried several other hosting companies but none of them even compare to support they provide.

Its quite amazing you can add additional domains to your account with only the cost of the domain registrar. My first site has been on SiteGround now for a couple months with zero downtime. My site load times have gone from 9+ seconds to -5 seconds from my previous hosting company.

Another benefit to SiteGround is they support "Let's Encrypt" which is renewed automatically every 3 months. Now there is no reason for any website to not use SSL certificates. This is exactly what Google wants. Once again this is provided for FREE.

If you are new to hosting, I would totally recommend SiteGround.

After installing Moodle in one of my subdomains, I got an error that I couldn't fix. I contacted the helpdesk chat. Within a minute, I got a friendly support member who tried helping me out. After 5 minutes, he noticed the issue was beyond his skillset, so he didn't waste my time and told me he was going to set up a support ticket for me and an expert would take it up.

Again 5 minutes later, I got a ticket response that the issue was being looked at, but needed some more attention. The last ticket message arrived another 10 minutes later. Basically: a really difficult issue got fixed in less than half an hour. And this is just the way they do support: no wasting of my time, no pointing of fingers (they don't care who caused the error) and no unfriendly chats!

If these bugs weren't disturbing my sites, I would almost look forward to having an issue to enjoy that great service!

A number of unusual features make the various plans awkward to work with sometimes - I don't like not having "import a site from cpanel" for example.

SiteGround is one of my favorite shared hosting provider although i always prefer a VPS or Dedicated Server for my applications or even websites, but still when you need a reliable web hosting for your client or for your own website, i recommend SiteGround. Frankly speaking, I have been using siteground for a few years now. And Believe me, I never face any downtime issues yet. Yes, I do have some problems when I was just starting up with their service. But the problem was resolved very quickly and in a professional manner by their staff. I must say that their technical staff is quite fast in providing quick response with correct solution of your problem. This shows that they employed are qualified and trained technicians. In starting my website was consuming too much CPU seconds and they immediately inform me about this issue. But I was not aware of where this problem was coming from? So I ask them to look inside and check the reason why the website is using too much CPU. Though This is my duty to keep myself within the resources, when I ask them to investigate it for me. Over the last few years I've used other "BIG Names' hosting companies but I just started my second year using Siteground, and I can't be more pleased with their service and support. Because of some server setup limitations I had to host one of my sites with another hosting company. However that experience was dramatic as my site got hacked several times over the last few months, and support could take days to reply. As I was used to get answers from Siteground support within less than an hour, I was chocked that it took the other hosting company so long to reply for some serious issues.

I'm not so technical, so quality support is very important to me, and Siteground is just fantastic at it.

First of all their FAQ's are very instructive, so even non technical people like me can find and understand what to try first.
However, where they are absolutely brilliant is in there support desk.
Replies are often within less than an hour, and if you use the chat system (like I did today), they'll walk you through the steps immediately.

I was already a big fan of Siteground, but my experience today brought my satisfaction to another level.

Extremely friendly and efficient staff! Thanks a lot! I have some issues on the SSL thingy and I consulted them because my site is still not secure. I have wanted to use Stripe as my payment method on my eCommerce site using woocommerce. FIRST OF ALL: SG shared hosting services are good but not as good as everybody's saying and not as good as they sell them. I'll explain why
I was looking for a top, mainly wordpress, hosting and I've searched through the net a bit. I've read a lot of great reviews about SiteGround, so much that I thought it should have been the best around, then I decided to give it a try and bought a GoGeek plan (SG's shared hosting top plan)
I will not go through the positive sides I found, since they are widely talked about here and in other forums, I will only share my considerations about their main selling pros

let's list the main features that everybody talks about: support, speed, caching, domains

SUPPORT: nothing much to say about it, except that the PRESALE support kinda sells you everything, only to find later that it wasn't exactly the way they said. I was told (literally, answering my specific question) that I whould have had a free domain for life for the main domain transferred on SG, looked to good to be true and of course it wasnt. Now I get that, I didn't pretend it but when you're sold like that you end up having bigger expectations. The TECH support is usually quite enough competent and helpful for normal request, and always kind, but when you dig a little deeper into technical issues or something is not working as advertised (see further about speed and caching) they stop there and try to forward you to the sale support for buying bigger plans (it's ok, at the end of the day it's a shared hosting, it can be a top performing server, unless they sell it like that... )
In general, anyway, compared to other competitors, their support is very good and most of all it's very very fast, in less than 1 minute you can have an operator ready in chat (24/7), this is not so common.

SPEED:
as SG advertises, they're servers and networks (remember we're always talking about shared hosting) should be lightning fast, which they actually aren't.
Migrating more than a dozen of wordpress sites from 3-4 different other hosting companies, none of which was a top level one and all of which were a loooot cheaper, this was one of the biggest points towards SG, so I choosed the data center closest to most of my users, Europe, the Netherlands.
well, the test I made with the first 4 sites migrated showed some far from good results in terms of ping, time-to-first-byte and page load times.
basically the same sites when cloned to SG had worsened their response time, compared to vary basic and cheap italian (shared) hosting services.
When I asked support about this they answered that I wasnt using the SG SuperCaching features and they activated them for me for the first site. I think they were totally missing the point: their hosting, with only 1 site loaded and without the cache enabled, was performing worse than the old one, which of course didn't have any caching/speeding mechanism whatsoever. Support told me that activating cache and using their CDN would improve a lot: caching for one site did actually improve performances by 3-4 times, the other 3 i uploaded didn't have that luck. but I'll talk about caching further on.
Got it so far ? ok, so we start from a lower point but with their caching tools you can achieve a better performance. could be enough if it worked.

CACHE:
they offer a 3 level caching mechanism, static cache for static resources, a dynamic cache for wordpress (based on their SuperCacher plugin) and Memcached query cache, let's walk through them
- static cache: simple, effective, though not as fast as you expected, useful
- dynamic cache: here came the first issues, my page load times were even longer than the previous hosting, both using my Firebug instance and tools like Pingdom. It seems that the cache is not working as intended, because when testing I got bad results for the first call, then if I repeated the same test it would go much more fast. some would think that the cache in jumping in after the first request, like a browser cache would do but this is absolutely not what you expect from a server side caching. if the first page the user loads is slow he probably won't go further into your pages and he surely won't hit the refresh button ! I talked to SG support about this and they said this was a very rare and interesting case ...
Besides, it seems that the cache needs to be flushed too often and sometimes changes made in the content don't show if you dont flush the cache. flushing the cache means that the next request will be significantly slow...
- memcached: runs for all the sites, cannot be deactivated for single installations, since it's specific to the database server. I had to disable it quite soon, since with a couple of sites, in which I had custom post list fetched through the standard WP classes, they were showing blank result even though the records were there. took me a while to pinpoint the problem but when I disabled memcached, the posts magically showed up. I didn't dig too much into the problem with their support because I didn't have time and because SG was giving me other bigger problems to look to.

DOMAINS:
this is the worst part, if caching and speed weren't enough. never transfer domains to SG's shared hosting plans !
although cpanel is good enough for handling all domain related tasks and have almost everything under control, there are some terrible bottlenecks, email for starters: SG offers a 2GB total space for your email boxes, for ALL your emails, got it ? so If I had let's say 2 domains there each with 4 email accounts that would mean that each mailbox would have 250 MB of disk space available. anyone who uses email on a daily basis can easily realize that it would be full before 6 months. other domain registrar usually offer up to 10 account with 1 or 2 GB space per mail box (not to mention GMail, but hey they're google)

then there are some minor aspects that I didn't like much in their services, I mean something that I would have made different, but they are bearable, you just have to adapt to their method, I won't write about them.

On Sunday a very large well known US provider managed to mess up all my websites through their incompetence, costing me the whole day to put it right. On Sunday evening I contacted SiteGround, chatted to them while they answered all my questions, then signed up and initiated a cpanel transfer. By Monday morning that was completed. I had to change a few database passwords. I then initiated a transfer of my DNS records over to the new server. A few hours later all my websites were up and running on SiteGround's servers. It would be hard to imagine a more seamless service or more helpful support staff. They even made an unprompted phone call to ask if there was anything they could help me with in configuring my new account. A big thumbs up here!

I only wish that I cancelling my account with my former provider was so easy. It seems that I have been placed in some 72 hour cooling off period by their retentions team. No chance!

Every single time I reach out to SiteGround's support they go over and above. I manage several dozen client websites, on many different hosts. I deal with hosting support regularly. With every OTHER hosting support, I brace myself for the canned support responses that don't answer my question on the first time. THEN comes the blame game - "the problem must be a plugin" or something like that - before they even investigate. 99% of issues are things they say they can't support. Then, even if the problem IS at the server level, they don't acknowledge that or still pass it off as site related.

I think its Siteground's employees, what makes Siteground what it is. I'd stick to Siteground until death. Haha. Just humbled by the fact how quick your support team responds. In nearly a year now, I didn't even need to call your phone number. I've always just initiated the Live chat session and your agents fixed issues right then and there. Please keep your services this way only.

To be honest, companies like Hostgator are really screwed up. I switched from Hostgator to Siteground.
With hostgator, I used to get resolution in 1 or 2 weeks. Which really effects the business.

Honestly, I can't think of going anywhere else. The support I've received is excellent, the wait times are nonexistent, the instructions and setup for first-timers are clear as day... It's a really great company that genuinely seems focused on providing their customers with truly excellent service. It's not QUITE as cheap as some of the bottom-of-the-barrel hosting solutions – that's not to say it's expensive, just that if you're looking for the absolute cheapest, there's somebody out there that will beat them.
