Ubiquity Hosting Reviews
Last October, however, they "accidentally deleted" our VPS, costing us thousands in down time and lost data. On top of that, in January they decided to charge us for the three previous months of unused service. No uptime percentage or amount of service can make up for a mistake like that.
Ubiquity has lots of down time. Between October and December 2010, their shared hosting servers got hacked twice, and all customers in their shared accounts had their index.html or index.php files replaced with some "hacked by" files, and all other files were deleted.
Me & three other friends used this company for our websites, and we all called the customer service hotline to get some help since we found out that it was a glitch in THEIR SECURITY that allowed the hacks to take place...and they kept blaming it on other people, and finally blamed it on us. (Even though it happened to everyone in their shared hosting servers)
Luckily we had everything backed up locally, so it wasn't too much to fix, but it was their responsibility and they pawned it off on someone else.
Customer service is rude, unhelpful, and most of the time, just plain ignorant.
I will never use this pathetic company, or their counterpart darkstarllc (ventrillo servers) again.
I would suggest to completely stay away from this hosting provider. Our site was down almost a week about a month ago due to their servers being compromised. Once again it was down today due to the same issues! I have never experienced so much down time and our website developer (upon requesting a refund to move us elsewhere) was informed 'There's no need to link us to a negative review either if that's what you're planning on doing ...' and that 'If you're going to open a paypal dispute, your account will be suspended and no further communication will be needed from you but regardless, there are a couple paypal dispute reasons you can give'
Note they had already admitted our developer had a couple of reasons even though they refused a payment for our site only days earlier!
Perhaps the only reason they have few negative reviews is because clients are bullied into not writing them!
We have numerous sites with Ubiquity and at times they went down. As I am writing this we are now on the 4th day of having 3 sites down. This time their excuse is that there servers had been compromised and they are working on the back up. We are also told that they now have server issues and suspended all sites temporarily!
As we had just paid the renewal we requested some money back but was told no and if we contact PayPal they would no longer correspond with me! Even worse is I contacted them as we have a resellers account and informed them that due to all sites being suspended and still no resolution we would like to cancel our newly set up USD 200 + Resellers account and we would not be asking for a refund. Quite simply we could not put our corporate name to hosting with these kind of issues!
However as we have another package which enables us 3 domains we have had to move two onto another host as 5 days downtime is too long, their servers being compromised, and suspending all sites is no good to our own clients! I requested if we could change the package back to one domain only and we would await for them to bring this one website only site back up and as we had just paid for it could they either refund or credit time against the difference? The reply I got was that we could cancel anytime but would not get any refund followed by a cancellation link! This is totally disgusting! I was also warned not to post any bad reviews!!! I have all the posts from them and will be compiling this on our web development site and to read is not only entertaining but an extreme warning about using Ubiquity Hosting!
