CoreCommerce, based out of Brentwood, Tennessee, was established in 2001 to serve the needs of businesses both small and large. CoreCommerce offers a SaaS e-commerce platform where you can build a new site, a shopping cart add-on to enable e-commerce functionality on your existing website or blog, and support for hosted payment pages where you can directly collect payments online. CoreCommerce differentiates itself from its competitors with its focus on providing personalized service and support.
CoreCommerce offers a range of products designed to help you with your e-commerce needs.
If you don't already have an online presence, CoreCommerce's flagship product is a full-scale e-commerce application where you get everything you need to build your online store. Hundreds of free themes give you a jump start on creating and designing your store (newer themes are mobile-friendly and responsive), though you can purchase custom web design services if none of them are quite what you're looking for. The built-in editor allows you to change the look of and content of the theme even if you don't have any design experience or technical knowledge. If you are well-versed in HTML and CSS, CoreCommerce allows you to edit the site files, granting you greater control over your site's appearance.
The built-in setup wizard helps you set-up everything you need to provide your customers with a full shopping experience, including product displays, taxes, shipping, and payments. You'll also get marketing tools, support for specials like promotions and gift certificates, inventory management features, and integrations with third-parties to streamline your business process. For example, you might opt for a shipping integration with UPS or FedEx and accounts integration with Quickbooks.
If you already have a website or blog, but you don't have e-commerce features, you can purchase CoreCommerce's shopping cart add-on. Your shopping cart's design will also match your existing design, so your users won't experience jarring transitions as they navigate from your site to your cart. CoreCommerce will take care of hosting your cart, which is accessible via the provided sub-domain.
Finally, the simplest option offered by Core Commerce is its Hosted Payments Page (HPP), which acts as a secure checkout page that captures payment information from your customers. It is a quick and easy way to create a secure process for your clients to pay you via credit card or check. It differs from the shopping cart option in that there aren't any steps where the users can add products to a cart and review their orders before checking out. You can link directly to your HPP, or you can add a "Pay Now" or "Donate" link to your invoices or newsletters. Implementing an HPP requires only dragging-and-dropping.
In addition to its commerce-related offerings, CoreCommerce offers the following services as well:
Domain Names: all purchasers of a CoreCommerce package get a temporary domain name (for example, if you're Temple Coffee, your URL might be "https://www21.corecommerce.com/templecoffee"). If you want to use a custom domain name, CoreCommerce has partnered with GoDaddy so that you can register a custom domain name (such as "https://templecoffee.com") at a discount.
SSL Certificates: Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificates are the standard security technology that establishes a link between your web server and your users' browsers, protecting the data passed between the two. All CoreCommerce customers get a shared certificate, but you can purchase a dedicated SSL certificate. Though the protection offered by a dedicated certificate is the same as that provided by a shared certificate, a dedicated certificate helps you establish a more professional and consistent brand identity, as well as improving your search engine ranking.
Professional Services: CoreCommerce offers professional services, including Build Assist, which is where the CoreCommerce team takes care of setting up your store on your behalf, Custom Store Design, which gets you a personalized design for your site, and re-platforming, which is where CoreCommerce helps you move your store from your current platform to CoreCommerce. You can request custom services, such as assistance with specific site-related changes, on an hourly basis as well.
All new users automatically get a free, 15-day trial of the complete CoreCommerce suite.
CoreCommerce offers multiple subscription plans. You pick the plan that is best for you based on the number of products you want to sell, the number of email accounts you need, the amount of traffic you expect, and the amount of storage you need. You can pay for your services on a monthly basis, but if you pay upfront for a year's worth of service, you'll get a 10% discount.
Billing for Hosted Payment Pages is separate; there's a monthly fee plus a transaction fee that varies based on how frequently people use your page.
CoreCommerce offers additional discounts to nonprofit organizations, as well as those who purchase packages for multiple stores.
CoreCommerce does not offer any refunds or money-back guarantees. If you see any server-related issues, CoreCommerce will try to accommodate you to the best of its ability, but it does not offer an SLA nor will it compensate you for any downtime or outages.
CoreCommerce's support team can be reached via telephone or live chat Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM (UTC-6). You can also submit a ticket through your admin panel or send an email message.
You can use the Support Center to access FAQ pages and CoreCommerce's documentation.
CoreCommerce is a reliable, easy-to-use e-commerce site builder that also sells simpler offerings for those who want to add just a few commerce-related features to their existing website or blog. The company's focus is on providing the best possible customer experience, so if you're looking for a provider that will help you through the process of launching your e-commerce site, CoreCommerce might be a good fit for you.
