I set up in business last March and without the help of Fat Cow I would have been lost. I am no computer geek, in fact, the opposite and I found Fat Cow very helpful every time I need their assistance even though I am in the UK. I have had a couple of queries since setting up and they have answered very quickly every time.
It is so easy to go in and change my website at any time. I did not want to pay a lot to set a website up as I did not have the finance in place so I found using Fat Cow was just for me - you can upgrade when money has started coming in. My business is only a small one and to be honest I am not expecting or want it to become a multi-million pound concern.
I only want it to carry me over to retirement in 3 years time. I would not consider changing now for the world and would recommend them to anyone - Fat Cow.com definitely rocks!!!
Sure can. I really do like Fat Cow. I have an account with Network Solutions by contrast and I had to set up a demo Wordpress site and I had to go through additional hassles/money in order to do so.
Fat Cow adds that as an add-on without additional cost and you can set two or three up as needed. Value. I think that Fat Cow does a number of things in that vein. Also, I think their costs are quite reasonable, I think they attempt to do what a web host can in order to develop a sense of loyalty in an environment where people can come and go like that (snap of the fingers).
We really like Fat Cow! They are the best!!! I haven't had one glitch or stumble since signing up with them to serve our needs.
Since I have a home office that keeps me pretty busy, plus a lot of Yahoo groups that I've joined I'm sure they keep plenty busy keeping up with my stuff. In fact, our daughter has a different company and if Fat Cow weren't so great we would have switched. However, when a company does so well I'm sure not taking a chance on a new company!
Poor service, poor customer service. Staff will tell you that you are more than welcome to go to another provider. Who tells customers that.
The staff of the company have poor customer relation. There are good people, well mannered and well trained out there looking for job. I have no idea how these people get jobs and make people regret doing business with them. They don't care what your website look like.
My website took 40 seconds to load after I signed with fatcow ... I complained and they cut it to 25 seconds and so I should be satisfied they think, I changed hosting to webhostinghub and its so much faster ... actually usable ...
Fatcow site is at www.incognium.com , the webhostinghub site is at www.incognum.com . Try it and see the difference ... Fatcow sucks ! Stay away ...
FatCow is one of the worst web hosting I have ever seen. They say that their space and bandwidth is unlimited but it's not. They have a very bad customer service I would have given them even lower stars but couldn't.do so.
Price is pretty good. According to their words value is also brilliant but it is not. I wouldn't recommend it to others at no cost. I would recommended BlueHost.
I was at one stage thinking of using Fatcow as my budget host provider. No more. Why?
IN short? They use the ancient mysql 5.0 on their servers. I cant even import from other servers to them.
This version was discontinued 18 months ago... its replacement is due to be retired in 6 months, and there are 3 more recent versions. Sorry, if I wanted dinosaur software I'd be back programming on my atari.
I had issues with my email and they kept saying the issues was fix but it was not. I had to be the to explain how to repeat the issue and fix the issue. I am not a tech why should I have to be the one to fix their servers.
Bad customer service and very bad tech support. The low cost is nice but the amount of money I lost because of them is in the 1000's. Never use them! If you business relies on them you will regret it.
I was sold a site and two DNS. One of the DNS was already purchased and a second remains free to purchase. Tickets, calls, calls and horrible wait times and more tickets and I cannot build the site or get to it.
Paid, get the notice I paid then am told that I need to figure out what they did. I need to go to work. So I may just flush the money down the toilet, turn it over to the lawyers and go on with life.
Thanks FatCow for a really horrible experience. Chao cow you are a udder failure.
Every 3-6 months they go down. Not just for an hour, but often at least half a day!! This is really a Major issue to any company. They went down again today, I cannot get in touch with anyone, I know clients are sending me emails and I cannot respond...
If you have domains active and you don't use their hosting and if the hosting expires first than the domains... you will lose all. They will close the account and change your DNS because they cannot separate a client account of the hosting.
If you don't like their hosting service you have to transfer Everything or else you will have your domains down... until they create you a temporary account and wait a couple of ours so you can move your active domains.
This has got to be the worst hosting company ever. I've just been on their system trying to install SSL certificate security, only to discover that they only allow certificates purchased through them (at seriously inflated prices!) to be used. I have never come across this with any other host. Stay clear of FatCow!
Been with FatCow for 3 years now and about every month there is a technical issue that alter the website. Spent countless days fixing those issues by myself as the support guys are clueless (I think they managed to help me out like twice out of 30 issue). It's too bad because otherwise it would be good but it seems they are doing ongoing work on the Weebly builder which creates all sorts of problems. I don't even want to think about all the customers I must have lost because of amateur-looking website when these issues occur....
I have used Fatcow.com for my business since day one and honestly
could not think of any better company! Love it. But now their
customer service are not good and Technical support is very bad to
help. I currently use LiveMNC.com for my 8GB Virtual Private
Server hosting and it is able to keep up with the demands of multiple
self-hosted applications without breaking a sweat.
Fat Cow Sucks because they jack up the price when it comes to renew and even if they have an expired card showing in your account, they are still somehow able to charge you. If you dispute the charge, they suspend everything Even though you paid in full up until the time it is set to expire. They don't care - so basically they take away your account even though it has been paid for. It's disgusting.
Recently an email account hosted at FatCow started bouncing mail, we deleted some of the users mail (even though the account showed the box was at 30% capacity) and the account started processing mail again. However 48 hours later, the account was again bouncing mail. I attempted to contact support and posted the bounce message asking that a trouble ticket was entered for the account.
No response 24 hours later. We again deleted some mail and the account started processing mail. I contacted support and stated the account was at 29% capacity and bouncing mail.
They required bounce messages to open a trouble ticket. I contacted multiple people to request bounce messages. Support was unable to figure out the issue so they contacted the next tier of support as I waited online.
After 8 min someone figured out that the account had reached the 10k message limit, this is to say it had more than 10k email messages even though the box size was at 29% capacity. I needed to immediately upgrade to a larger account so the box could hold more email. I stated that didn't make sense, I purchased boxes by size, not by number of emails.
They said there was no option but to upgrade. I am now moving my server to a different host. FatCow processes mail slowly (5-10 min for messages to arrive at times) the premium spam filtering is poor ($9.95 a year) and the try to nickel and dime you for every little thing - like the number of emails in your box not the capacity, which is just silly. I don't recommend you use FatCow, look for another provider with less cow and more customer service.
Having used FatCow for 5 years, I've just had my renewal price doubled! That's $155.00 a year now and although throughout the 5 years I've had very issues, the price is simply not worth it. I held 3 accounts personally and several more through recommendations, it's simply not acceptable to raise price so considerably.
Feature wise; FatCow has hosted Magento, WordPress and all sorts of odd files and projects I've worked on with little to no hassle. Connection time can be a little slow at the best of times but certainly not an issue worth worrying about. My advice, join for a year at the lovely $49 mark, then cancel.
Using an FTP client is easy and all your files can be moved from one server to another relatively easily. MySQL database can be exported and backups taken to or you can spend an hour waiting for support on Live Chat to try and get your renewal price down!
FatCow.com sucks. Here is why. I've bought domain names through them and have hosted with them for over six years.
I have had very minimal contact with sales and tech support during the length of the relationship, until pretty recently. When it really mattered, their customer service (in US and overseas) have both failed to provide 1. Resolution to the issue (now more than one), 2.
Timely response to support tickets, 3. Promise resolution time of 24-48 hours and a week later the issue (again, now more than one) have still to be resolved, 4. Very unapologetic - which actually goes a heck of a long way for someone that has been a customer of theirs for the length of time I have.
I am beyond disappointed. In good faith, I would Never recommend them to Anyone due to the poor customer service, lack of follow-through, have not fulfilled their stated time frame and did not provide a reason or apology, and has now compounded the issue.
I do a podcast every week, we needed a web host, we picked Fat Cow. Everything went ok for awhile until one day they shut down our website with no warning when we called to find out what was wrong they told us our site has to much traffic.(that means we were successful ) and we had to be moved to a diff. server that can handle our traffic.
Ok so what now I asked they said for 75 dollars they would move our site to a VPS server and that would solve the issues. Wrong again, what Fat cow failed to inform us was that our site was made using their Weebly web design program and would not work in the VPS server that they assigned our site to. We found this out when we tried to upload a show and we couldn't access our website.
We try calling their support people to find out what to do and were placed on hold for two hours yes two hours and never got a person to ans. the phone. My son finally contacted someone on line at fat cow and explained what our problem was and basically said we would have to rewrite our entire website from scratch that there was nothing they could do.
They destroyed our website and did not care one bit. Also while our site was down anyone who tried to log on to my site only got a Fat cow sorry page and when our site was up and running in the new server anyone who went to our site while it was down got a fat cow cookie that will continue taking you to the sorry page until you clean out your cache on your computer. They said that was my problem and I would have to tell all of my fans that they have to clean out the cache on their computers before they could go to my site.Really!!! This company is profit driven only and their customer service is nonexistent, they cram as many web sites as they can in each server and throw you to the curb if you use to much of their unlimited bandwidth and storage that they advertise you have when you sign up with them (I was using 8 GB of storage) I would not recommend this company for any reason .
Did not use my site very much so I set up the non-renewal process for when my 2 years was up. Happen to look at my credit card authorizations and I discover that I have been billed for 2 more years despite clearly having set up the non renewal over a month ahead of time. They said they would have to close my account/site completely and immediately in order to get the refund started even though I still had over a week left before my contract time was up.
I could wait but they couldn't start trying to refund their mistake until it was cancelled. On the bright side, they said they wouldn't charge me the early cancellation fee. Told them they need to contact my credit card company and get the reversal started so as to speed up the correction for their mistake, as that is the least they can do for their screw up. Currently awaiting their efforts to correct their mistake.
We are a Internet Radio station that was running on a dedicated server at another hosting company. We moved to Fatcow to save money thinking we would get the same or better service. After only 2 days on their servers, they shut off our account and website without ANY warning.
They claimed we caused a Ddos attack and thus they suspended our account. They would not allow us to talk with Tier 3 support or explain what happened. They simply told us to go away.
We moved our site to a better know hosting/registrar. I am a Cisco Engineer with over 25 years in this business. I have never been treated in this manner. Stay away from fatcow!!!
In 2010 I needed a webhosting service and the best option I found was FatCow. The FatCow hosting plan meets the needs of small businesses and the cost for their services is fully accessible. FatCow has a fast and efficient service support.
Currently I have over 4 years using the services of FatCow, I can assure you they are an excellent hosting company. Some of my customers satisfied with the services of FatCow are:
It is a wonderful hosting company. It will be even more wonderful if you can design an off-line website design tools that are FatCow compliant. Their support mechanisms and systems are second to none. I do not have any issues with FatCow and I am currently signed up for their Affiliate Program
FatCow provides great value and I have found the support to be first rate. I use them for multiple sites as I support several local businesses who need a web presence but do not have large dollars to spend.
I have tried to contact customer service via chat and after a long wait finally got someone. I had charges for domain renewal at $15.99 on my credit card which I authorized BUT I also had combined charges fro site lock & domain security that I did not authorize for $25.94. Customer service had a hard time explaining to me why these up sells were added to my credit card without authorization.
I also had to answer my security question about ten times, each time being told it was incorrect. I had to tell the customer support tech that it was indeed my password and that this happens all the time. The 11th time I gave my password, the same password the previous 10 times, low and behold it was correct.
I cannot contact customer service without issues. The websites are hard to build and there are not a lot of video tutorials, which are helpful. I have web hosting for my small business but everything is extra, if I want to add a shopping cart...extra, pay pal...
extra......it adds up to me needing to move my domain to another provider that does not constantly "upsell" me. I will be moving my small business website over to Moonfruit. Bye, Bye FatCow.
I think that Fat Cow is ideal for a customer like me. I had absolutely no experience with websites. I knew I wanted one and I wanted to be able to manage it myself.
From the start, Fat Cow's explanation of their services assured me that I would get everything that I wanted to be able to do for one price. When I looked at their competitors' websites, I saw great prices but wasn't sure if I would be able to do what I wanted after I paid. I was confident that Fat Cow would get me up and running immediately.
Within hours, I had what I wanted in a website. Any time that I have had questions about my website, they have been quick to respond. The same has been true when I have had issues.
They have also been quick to resolve these issues. I have also received calls from their customer service to check in with me and make sure that I'm not having problems. The tools they have for someone starting out enable me to make a website that looks good with very little technical knowledge.
I use their basic package which limits the number of pages you have on Your Site and some of the features are only available to people who have purchased their premium service. But I feel that the features and number of pages that I have are a great value and serve me well at reaching my goals for my website.
I've been hosting with FatCow for three and a half years now, and that's because I feel they really value my business, and I'm getting honest value. FatCow is spectacularly efficient and gives you tons of different options for Your Site, giving you freedom if you want it, and help if you need it. Account managers will contact once in a while to ask about service, and it feels good to have someone asking how they're doing and how they can improve.
They can call frequently around promotional times. The few times I have had to contact customer service, I always received a response in an hour or two, sometimes even sooner. I definitely think FatCow is a reliable and offers a lot of flexibility for your needs.
Their prices really fit my budget. And I like that they use wind energy.
I had never done a website before and when I did this one it was extremely easy to understand and work. I would recommend it highly
FatCow has provided unmatched support for all of our domains and email clients. We Love fatcow!!! I wouldn't switch to any other provider if it was free! So in conclusion Fatcow rocks!!!
Do not sign up for FatCow email if you want any of your emails received by Godaddy ISP clients. Unbelievably go daddy does not receive emails from FatCow. And you will not even receive a bounce back message. Do your research, tons of problems here, and Fat cows support has gone seriously downhill.
A green web host was a big priority for us when we went looking for hosting. We were with Fat Cow for over a year. First of all, the price was not the same as we were initially told, and no one on the support staff could tell us why.
There were constant technical problems with the design interface, and when our year was up we still did not have a website capable of selling our products. When we tried to cancel, they gave us the run-around for three months, even though our year had expired. We had to go to our bank to stop them from continuing to debit our account.
Furthermore, we lost our domain in the process; thank goodness we were changing our company name and were able to purchase a different domain through a different company. Dealing with Fat Cow support was like pulling out teeth with no anesthetic. Don't waste your money - stay as far away from Fat Cow as possible!
Fat Cow.com Really worth your money, Cheapest domain, better support would be a issue for me as other's are more efficient in this department .It'sa great provider for bloggers as it suit better for them, Overall a nice provider but needed to tighten things up with their support.
After being with FatCow for about 4 months out of my one year prepaid plan with them, I've got to say I'm quite pleased with them. As with any host however, they do have some flaws. I'll start with the good stuff though.
First off, they are super quick. I had my account set up within minutes of registering and was able to upload files instantly. I've known to wait several hours with some other hosts, and even up to two hours to make FTP accounts.
FatCow had none of this. It was quick, and it was easy. Another awesome thing about FatCow is the support.
In my second day of working on my site I had some issues grabbing an RSS feed from another site. All I had to do was submit a support ticket and I got help within 15 minutes (keep in mind this was as 10pm). It's pretty nice being able to get help at any time and quickly.
Not only are they fast, but they are smart and mature. I also found them a bit fun, not the robot-esc support you get with some hosting companies. I can't really praise FatCow on their pricing, but I can't really knock them for it either.
They have some competitive plans but there are better deals out there. Although, ~$3.50 per month isn't that bad either. But then again, you do get a domain name.
You also get tons of bonus credits, but I never really use them as I don't really want to advertise. The one thing I Really didn't like with FatCow (that I didn't know of before I purchased) was that there was no CPanel. They have a weird CPanel-ish panel that might be easier for beginners, but I really disliked it.
If they had an option to go to CPanel, that would be awesome. Overall, FatCow provides great service, affordable prices, and superb support. The only issue I have is the lack of CPanel. Other than that, I would definitely recommend FatCow to beginner - intermediate users because of its ease of use and relatively low price points.
If you are looking for reliable and trustworthy people Stay away! They say "unlimited bandwidth" but if Your Site is doing too well during a promotion they will take it down without even telling you. I am losing thousands of dollars right now because Fatcow took down my site on the last day of a big promotion for my business, due to heavy site traffic.
Getting ahold of someone who can actually do things at Fatcow is pretty much impossible, they'll put you on hold and transfer you around forever. If you care about your business I suggest you look elsewhere! These people Do not care about your needs.
I have multiple poor support stories with fatcow. But the one that is most worth mentioning is the last one. I host 4 private websites that I developed.
I also provide hosting for the company I work for ($100,000,000+ company)
I had fatcow for about 5 years. The last 6 months i moved my companies website to it. Today i noticed our website is down.
Had some embarrassing "there must be a mistake message with flying cows" Not something you want your customers to be seeing for many reasons. So i called. I was informed someone was doing a Ddos attack on our website so they completely disabled my account.
I asked how i get it enabled and I was told I cant. Ever. I need to find a new provider.
shortly after they finally "proactively" notified me with this:
We have noticed that your website " **************.com " is under DDoS attack. This is against our terms of service. Therefore, we have suspended your account.
We cannot provide you hosting anymore. You need to find an alternate hosting provider. Your account will be terminted within 24 hours.
so it is against there terms of service to be randomly targeted by a Ddos attack :|
I also hosted 4 other sites that were there also as well as email. All gone. I can not get them activated again either, even knowing they admit those sites were not targeted.
My logon was not compromised. Nothing about this makes sense. Stay away if your website matters to you what so ever. I would never recommend hosting a company website on this clown provider.
Uptime is complete garbage. I have little to nothing on my webpage now after trying to figure out what was causing my website to be 4.61 seconds of average loading time.
-Made most if not everything .PNG files, also took a slider feature and translator feature off (hurt my international audience) and still I get slow loading times. Called support who seemed to be very polite and helpful.
However, after a few hours of speed being faster, it was then progressively getting slower throughout the day. Called and sent E-Tickets 5 times or more and still get the same result. I will be looking for a new host provider as soon as I can, but this is incredibly unethical and downright terrible service despite how nice the support has been.
Like: your affordablity, ease of use
Quickly get email and a website going
Always been helpful
Don't like: How you try to charge and I have to focus just to not get any add ons. That you cant do more with the templates through wysiwyg, like manipulate the actual art files
Been down a few times
Cut off my email for sending one email to an aol customer
It would be great if there was an inexpensive system like $ 15 moth as maximum to keep our website close to the beginning in the pages of listings. We usually end up popping up with difficulty.
I am a 3 year customer of FatCow. And I didn't see this kind of nasty and down support and service. Some days ago I changed my old account with new one and got multiple problems regarding domains, folders and databases transfers. I still trying to resolve those problems.
Failure is an option with FatCow. I've been a customer for the last 5 year but no longer, thanks to customer support or lack thereof. I've had my website hacked, e-mail settings changed randomly, outages, and customer support techs who spend more complaining to me about their jobs.
Over the past two years I've averaged a call to customer support for e-mail issues once every quarter with the outage in e-mail typically lasting 5 days. For the last two months I have been unable to send email from my smartphone despite numerous calls to both AT&T and FatCow. I now have a temporary Gmail account that works fine from my phone, guess it's Not at&T for once.
I'm now in the process of transferring my domain to another hosting service. I am now 58 hours into the process of getting authorization from FatCow to transfer MY domains, I was told this would not take more than 48. Work on my support ticket was not even initiated until after I called them, @ hour 53. Total Failure
I am very disappointed with Fat Cow. We started off great. I got a great deal and a decent website.
Then they started taking on all these additional charges and add-on that I didn't even request. I paid for my website but refused to pay for add-ons that I didn't authorize, so they shut my site down less than a month after I paid the $130 for the site. I'm so done with Fat Cow and all of their sisters, brothers, and affiliates.
If I didn't pay for an add-on then you should stop the add-on not shut down my entire site right after I paid for the site. I'm switching and requesting a total refund.
FatCow at first was OK to work with when I didnt need any support for issues. Once issues arose (slowness), we tried to contact them. Every time we contacted them they were very hostile and tried to blame techical issues on our software (wordpress).
Not only this, just to talk to a person takes a minumum for 30 minutes. When I tried to cancel my account, they wanted to charge me $35. Ridiculous.
Went through my bank and got the money back. I will Never do business with this company again. Steer clear!
Very Much disappointed with the service and customer support they never understand what the major cause they just shift you from department wise. I have hosted my 5 sites and the offer was Unlimited bandwidth space and files but they just block my site that i cant use more than 5000 files. this is what i want to say. Regards
Sign up for Wordpress web hosting 7 days ago & Fat cows Server's been down for 4 days. Frustrating. Yes it's the cheapest web hosting out there if you paying monthly ($5.00) but Be warned>>>>>Your Site will be down constantly!
And when it's not down, running Wordpress on FatCow Server is Super slow! Just to add a post takes forever. I made a mistake for going cheap over going "stable". You know what they say, you get what you paid for...
We have been with FatCow.com for a few years the problem is that when there is a problem their tech support is a waste of time. They would rather point the blame to others then fix the problem. When they do finally admit that the problem is on their end your stuck in limbo, as they could care less if they fix the problem.
We have spent two weeks without complete access to mail, and their response is to keep passing the buck and continuously blame someone else. You get what you pay for and with FatCow that's just what you get a Fat cow, better to make a few burgers and find a real hosting company that cares about their users.
We are a non for profit small Historical Museum organization and Fat Cow has been great for us. It is simple yet very great to work with. It was our first attempt to set up a web site and we get a lot of compliments about the looks of our web. We are very happy with the support we received when I had some questions.
Fat Cow rocks! They keep in contact with their customers and offer help. They have a great price and are always having great deals and specials. I recommend Fat Cow over other Hosts.
FatCow is the worst. It is the slowest web hosting service in the world! For 3 years I begged them to do something so that a page does not have to take almost a minute to load!
They gave me all sort of bull s*** and did nothing, at the same time claiming that the page is loading quickly. Visit the site medametrics.com to see how slow a site can load. I moved all my sites from FatCow from a personal account I had, but this other account - which was on auto-renew, was unfortunately renewed and I am stuck. Their support tickets are responded by different people, who give the same garbage, and do nothing.
Support doesnt know English and very slow to respond forcing you to buy their premium support for $15/month extra. Even then they couldnt help me and i had to cancel my service to switch to another provider. I asked for my money back because it was their fault but they said its past 30 days and too bad.
I wish I knew the difference in The Cpanel between the godaddy and FatCow. I switch from godaddy because of the prices and the space FatCow promoted in the ads. I contacted tech supports about the API in the Usps.
The techs couldn't help with the issue. I don't think they tech support is 100 percent. I think this is great hosting service if they can keep up with the advertisement.
Great Value for the dollar. All of the uptime that they say and there is an added bonus for them to use green energy! The support I have not used much but when I need to ask questions there is a person to talk to.
Our web page developed a problem when the flash pictures were acidentally deleted. We paid Fat Cow for back-up restoration service but never used the feature. Now when we need it to restore the problem pages, we have been waiting for 5 days.
All we get are excuses, not results. We wait and wait for a supervisor to call back. We are frustrated, as you would be in similar circumstances.
They tell us how we can fix the problem, but we are not tecnicians. If it is so easy, why don't they just do it?? I asked for the contact info the Fat Cow President.
No one knows who that is or how to reach him (her). Also, even though they tell us that they backup daily, the last file backup is from Sept 3. Today is Sept 23.
They call that good service?? Buyer beware.
I've been with FatCow for over 6 years now, and have watched what used to be a friendly, high-quality hosting provider turn into a useless repository of CPanel popup ads, constant upsells, and ignored support tickets. When I began using them, I would get clearly personalized responses in a timely manner when I would submit a ticket. These days, support is outsourced to people who copy and paste from a script.
Good luck getting any real answers to your questions. Also, if you run a WordPress site you can expect frequent database errors. If Your Site gets a malware infection, they will deactivate your account without notice. Then, it takes unreasonably long for them to review your case and activate the account once it is finished.
Someone gifted me one year free hosting of FatCow a couple of years ago and my experience with them is better than that with other hosting I have used. First, they had a simple and clear control panel interface and one will find it easy to navigate through different features. They provide a bunch of one-click installable scripts to help the novices get their website up and running instantly.
With the purchase of hosting plan you would get free Bing, Google and Facebook credits which definitely help the cause of marketing. I don't really rely on support provided by hosting companies in installing scripts or such things (rather like to get things done myself), but for whom support really matters, their support is quiet good. In short I have a pleasant experience with them. Recommended!
I have used Fat Cow for 2.5 years and every time I have needed support (probably 4 to 6 times), by phone or online, I have received great help from someone who obviously knew my issue and was not just following a script.
My site is low volume, so I can't comment on the terrible problems high volume users have posted. But for a small, personal site, FatCow's service is unacceptable. Their "visitor stats" are so basic as to be meaningless, and do not compare to reports provided by competitors.
The email server is terribly slow -- when I periodically test it by sending myself an email average delivery time is in the range of an hour. There is no customer service to speak of - if there was I would have raised this issue to them instead of posting it on a public forum.
So at first FatCow was not bad. They have an easy way to set up wordpress and vdeck has its advantages over the typical cpanel, vdeck is simpler to use and sometimes faster. I paid extra for the wordpress support team and at first they were great.
However, that changed over the last few months. Now when I call the wordpress support team, they still send me to the level 1 techs, even though I paid extra. When I ask for them to connect me to the higher support, they sometimes refuse.
Even the better support has gone way down. Once guy fixed something on my site, but left all the plugins disables, which made my site basically unusable! There backup and restore options don't work (I've tried using it and it simply does not do anything, even with support of the phone we could not get my old backup to load.) Overall, they sucked me in and then turned on me, I'll never be giving them another dime of my money and I hope you don't either!
FatCow is a fine host for the amount of money they charge, which is more or less the same as all the shared hosts. I really liked that when they made mistakes, they gave me a nice amount of free hosting. You might have to wait on the phone for a while to talk to them, but only godaddy is really good about that. I wish they would not charge extra for CDN and since they are on vdeck I was not able to use cron jobs, but otherwise they are a fine choice, especially to someone new that might have trouble with cpanel.
Fatcow seems to deliver an inconsistent customer experience. Some of my sites work well there, and other don't. I rated the Support on the low end because more often than not, my issues were not immediately solved, and Fatcow support people use canned responses for issues that need specialized explanations.
So when I asked for an explanation on why a certain Wordpress site keeps breaking everytime I upload a theme, they ignored my issue and the ticket is unresolved until now (2 days later). I'm using these same themes on other accounts in Fatcow so I don't understand why they would suddenly tell me, "The problem is with the [theme]. Please contact your service-provider for troubleshooting."
This is the same theme that works in another Fatcow account.
They could check my settings in case there's a glitch there, but they won't. Very disappointed. The Customer Support was the dealbreaker, and now I want to move all of my accounts from Fatcow to SiteGround, where there's better Customer Support.
Generally, the features are good for anyone who knows what they're doing. But for beginners who don't know how to hardcode websites, troubleshooting websites is nasty business and will take too much time. I'd rather pay for better service than waste time.
The name of host is quite cute lol but anyway I've been using fatcow for a year and I'm quite satisfied with this host. There has been a few downtime's during the year but they were short so it's not a big deal as long it's not more than 24hours of downtime. Their pricing for this hosting plans were nice they gave me a free domain with free advertising credits from google, bing and facebook.
They answer my support tickets in a reasonable time. Overall I recommend everyone to try this host since their pricing is cheap
Fat Cow is awesome. Great service, fast response, and I love that they are sustainable and just with their business model.
Worst support ever. First I signed up for a plan that was secretly disguised as $1/month. Next month I'm charged for $32.
When I complained, the support said they'd get a billing manager to reverse the fees because they agreed that it looked unclear in their ad. A week and a half later the billing manager told me that I'm out of luck. Cool service people.
You really care about your customers! Regardless of that, their backend doesn't give you any flexibility to do anything advanced. I wouldnt recommend this hosting service to my worst enemy.
Fatcow Sucks. Where would I even begin with all of the issues I've had with them. I almost lost the domain name I've had for 4 years because they neglected to tell me the transfer Wasn't even initiated, and if I hadn't called Them to ask about Google Analytics, I'd have never known.
And that was only the beginning. I was told I would be able to access very specific features that I was aware I would need, only to find out I could only access them IF I Upgraded i.e. More money.
Then the Weebly Premium that I upgraded to was updated in December and now arbitrarily migrates my content around to different pages. When I contacted Fatcow after the first TWO times it happened, they agreed to a refund, only to refund The wrong card. And now it's happened a third time.
Their first response is always "it's you, not us" and their "pass the buck" mentality will have you running in circles. We won't even get into the scripted responses they send you from "support" or the 4-5 "account reps" I've had that I cannot get back in touch with after their first phone call to me. My experience with Fatcow has been nightmarish, I was better off on Blogger.
They will not refund me without shutting down my site and only want to give me credits for more products from them. As if. Do NOT give them your money. Based on my experience with them, you Will regret it. #Imho #mytwocents.
Well i have one website - joomla based - on their website, The support team isn't all that good and the wait time for their responses are just not good at all. The website suffered frequent outages, slow loading - though i optimized it for speed - and a whole lot of 500 errors that show on a monthly basis. I would not recommend it.
FatCow rocks for many reasons. First and foremost, we love FatCow because they are competitively priced. Also - they are a green company, being wind-powered, which is a BIG deal to us.
Every time I have had to call, or chat, or requested help via email - I have gotten the help I needed, immediately. I have been a loyal FatCow customer (for business and personal sites) going on over two years, and they get my highest stamp of approval!
Our company has used Fat cow for at least 5 years now. We have never had any glitches or problems on our website. The customer service reps are professional and courteous, and very helpful.
They are also knowledgeable on a variety of topics, not like some reps who obviously are reading from a manual! they were able to walk me through setting up Microsoft outlook in no time at all. The interface for the website builder is easy to navigate, and there are countless templates that are available for customers to use and "tweek" .
I must admit, I did a good job on our website. Also, the specials that Fat Cow have are some of the best! They even provide opportunities for customers to add special decals, free of charge, on their sites for Halloween, Breast Cancer Awareness, and others.
Reasonably priced, I highly recommend Fat Cow's hosting and web services to anyone. T. Mitchell
Director of Operations
Our church signed up with fatcow for web design and hosting. After paying the full amount and filling out our client profile, we were told we would be contacted by a designer. We waited and waited and waited....We called customer service who were totally useless.
Could not reach the web designer, never got a call back or any explanation for the delay. After two months of waiting we decided to ask for a refund and go elsewhere. Fatcow totally sucks!
The worst experience I've ever had. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know
I have always had great customer service with Fat Cow --- even late at night and on weekends. I have used their service for years and cannot recall any instance when their product was not top notch. I always recommend them to friends and coworkers.
I've been on fatcow.com for about 12 months and I've not had any problems at all. The key to my continuing use of fatcow.com is the support - it is fabulous! On the occasions that I've needed their assistance, they have been available and solved the problem directly.
I've not had to follow up the issue, it has just been dealt with. On this basis, I'd have no hesitation in recommending fatcow.com to anyone looking for a reliable web host with fantastic support.
when started searching for place to host my site, looked for ease of use, good tools, and affordable pricing. Fat cow met all my requirements as well as suggesting additions that i did not consider. the tools are easy to use and no prior training was needed. I highly recommend Fat Cow for anyone wanting to build a website.
I got hooked by a special plan that cost me around $20/year. Once the first year elapsed they charged my credit card $79 and let my domain name expire. I have asked for a refund and they charged a $35 dollar cancellation fee - which contradicts their money back guarantee page.
Stay away from them, the server performance is very poor with very slow response times. There are many better hosting providers out there. Unfortunately I will never use FatCow again.
Wanted simple hosting for website/blog for private family matters. Was not going to work so I canceled with-in 30 days, in writing via correspondence with their rep. Jasen.
Never happened, no refund. Turned off Auto-Renewal...twice. It's seems to have decided on its own that I was just kidding the first time and that I'd really be better off paying for a hosting account that I never use.
I can not remove my credit card information. So, if Auto-Renewal again decided that I was only kidding about non-renewal, they will have my CC info readily available for their use. Aaarrrr, matey. Da be pirates.
I have been really happy with Fat Cow.com web hosting. I am a novice, and had never created a website before. It was amazingly easy to get a website up and running using their Drag and Drop Site Builder.
I was contacted one time by phone to see if I needed any help, and the representative was extremely helpful in answering the few questions I had. I have found that they are available, but do not overwhelm me with too many calls or emails to promote other products. I am really happy with Fat Cow, and would highly recommend them to anyone starting a new site.
Horrible hosting company. Bad for Wordpress. Let me rephrase it is horrible for Wordpress.
Customer service is great if you are dumb and don't know anything about web design or technical problems. I rather not have a website.
FatCow hosting are one of the major web-hosting services that attracted me after i shifted from BlueHost. I was using bluehost for 2 years and so the shifting experience was not so pleasant. I primarily opted for fatcow due to the low pricing and also the excellent customer service that they provide.
The first major problem that i had to face was that they couldn't transload my backup files from my previous servers. It was a big issue because i was hosting a dozen small wordpress sites in bluehost and the backup file was pretty big. The second issue that i faced with them was with their customer care executive, the didnt knew what transload means.
I mean i had to ask them to search for the meaning fof the word in wikipedia/google to make them understand. Secondly when they finally understood that i had to "transfer" my backup files from the old host, they said that it would cost me extra for downloading and installing the old backup. These problems actually made me to rethink about my shift to fatcow.
Also after using Cpanel for 4 years, to use the fatcow controlpanel was bit difficult or i could say confusing. FatCow may be good for those who are hosting small biz websites which doesnt get updated regulary or for those who just want a simple web presence. I defenitely wont refer it to those using wordpress or other php based application as i had to face lot of issues regarding that. I still have my account with them but i just use them for testing purposes and for small sites.
I signed up with Fatcow at January 2010.Their site was really attractive which made me give it a try. It was my first hosting experience, and I must say it was a big mistake choosing them. At November 2010 I left FatCow due to their really really slow loading times.
it's a real pain! And their support is neither the greatest nor the fastest. Their prices are reasonable though,I don't suggest anyone going with an "unlimited" plan.
There support is excellent but the website some time loads slower than usual but I contacted customer care and have solved my problem. There support are online 24X7 so there are very quick with solutions. They provide full feature Control panel with all necessary scripts.
They gives advertisement credit which worth the lowest price. I surely recommends to our friends.
I have used FC for 2 years now they are quite well priced compared to competitors. I am increasing frustrated with the lack of service, We are unable to get onto the Open-Xchange Server to access all out email information this is a priority because we are in the design business so send and receive large files. As you may well know you the base allocation for email is 500 Mb this can max out very quickly.
It's usually manageable (if you can access the server) we haven't been able to for about a month now and no one can explain why - it;s not like you need your clients to contact you via email anyways right? Still no explanation have spoken to FC and waited on their "chat window" (that's and oxymoron) for over 30 minutes for assistance. I kind of feel beholden to their bad practices and almost certainly going to change companies to a more organized and fair dealer
FatCow is the most disgusting hosting provider ever. Every day, several times, I get "error in database connection" or something like that. Never again. Waste of money.
I created my account on FatCow more than a year ago and from my experience with it I can say it's the best hosting company I have every seen
First the up time during the past year about 99% and that resulted a great affect on SEO because every time Google crawlers visit my sites find it online
Second the speed because I'm very interested in SEO every time I create a new website I check it's speed with Google speed tool and other tools I get a high speed score and the server response result is less than a second
Third the support there is many methods to contact them a phone call or a ticket or the best method I prefer the online chat, all of this methods available 24/7
Fourth the price is amazing there is always special discounts, "high quality low price" they deserve every penny.
For the avergage small user FatCow does offer a reasonably good value-for-money system - and don;t forget that if you're the Webmaster and join their Affiliates Program then every time somone signs-up for FatCow by clicking on a link they'll give you for your website (or other website you may build for other people) you get $100 ! However - Do not use FatCow if incomming emails are inportant to you or vital for your business - they have a habit (usually ver the weekends) of totally losing incoming messages! - I have received a "reply all copy" message from al colleage at a different compnay to an email that was sent to me and others (including my colleague) that was never deliverd to me by FatCow
The first time it took their support team over 12 hours to re-establish "safe & reguslar" incoming message delivery to my mailbox, this weekend it's still an ongoing problem since over 8 hours ago. SO before signing up for FatCow you have have to ask yourself on BIG question . . . "Can my business, or other use of a website, safely live with the risk of incoming messages being totally lost with no recourse to ever finding them (apart from emailing everyone you know and saying 'please re-send any message your sent to me in the last 2 days to this Gmail or Yahoo mailbox' as FatCow has been losing messages again')" - if the answer to this is "No it most certainly cannot" then for your own sake please don;t use FatCow and end up suffering like I am.
Dear FatCow. Prospected Consumers, I've had numerous difficulties with Fat Cow and my WordPress website. The site have been corrupted my log on hijacked and customer support tell me it my problem. So if you want aggravated with inferior customer support and have your website hacked sign up with Fatcow it's a great value
I would (and have) recommended Fat Cow hosting to others and I myself have developed four web sites using Fat Cow as a host. Fat Cow can be used by a customer of any skill level because the written help is easy to understand and clearly written. Also, the capability exists to create sites online with the tools provided or to use ones own software and upload to Fat Cow.
One aspect that I particularly like about Fat Cow is their no limits policy on virtually everything. There is a limit on number of pages unless you upgrade to the paid version of the site building software, but those limits are imposed by the software provider. I have used Fat Cow support on several occasions and found that they respond quickly and courteously with the help I needed to solve my problems.
I have limited ability (and desire) to code html so it is important to me that the site building tools provided be easy to use. I have used both Weebly and Site Builder and found them to be easy to use. The documentation that I have used is also clearly written and easy to understand. Fat Cow rocks!!
Doing business with this company was easily the worst customer service experience of my life. I can say that with complete and total confidence. After purchasing the main package that they advertise on their front page, which boasts "Unlimited Bandwidth," my site was shut down for exceeding a bandwidth limit.
When I asked the customer service representative supervisor "Is there a limit on my bandwidth usage?" I was told that yes, there was. "So it's not unlimited," I asked. I was told that no, it IS unlimited, but within what they consider to be reasonable parameters. I explained to them that what they are describing is the exact definition of "limited" and the exact opposite of the definition of "unlimited." They told me that for the purposes of my site, I should probably look into getting a plan that offers more bandwidth.
I told them that was the exact reason I picked the plan with "Unlimited Bandwidth," I figured that numbers didn't go too much higher than infinity and that an unlimited amount of bandwidth would be more than enough to cover my needs. After two hours of being told, more or less quote-unquote, "It is unlimited, but there are limits on it," I was told that I had to remove the offending file and then my site would be turned back on. I removed the file, and waited patiently for about 48 hours before calling their 24/7 customer service line to inquire as to why my site has not been turned back on yet.
As I write this review, it is 2:51 a.m., and I have been on hold awaiting a customer service rep for over an hour. I seriously doubt that anybody is going to pick up and take my call. I initiated an online chat, and the customer service rep was very polite and quick to respond to introductory pleasantries, however stopped responding immediately as soon as I asked my question.
I do not understand why it is legal for them to sell people "limited bandwidth" and call it "unlimited bandwidth," and I would not recommend this company to anybody. I have had some pretty awful customer service experiences with various companies in the past, but this takes the cake. They deliberately deceived me by quite literally lying and telling me that what I was buying could reasonably be described as "unlimited bandwidth" and I am fairly certain they are currently ignoring me as I wait for them to offer the customer service and technical support that their site promises.
I have had a real good support anytime needed, and the features of the hosting plan are really amazing and went beyond some of my expectations.
Both my Mom and I signed up for Fat Cow at a reasonable introductiory price, when it came time to renew they wanted to charge well over $100 to renew - Both my Mom and I imediatly canceled our accounts well ahead of my renewal date and turned of auto renewal... They still renewed both of our account and charged $129+!!! Be Vary wary of this hosting company!!
After 10 years as a FatCow customer, I have finally decided to shop somewhere else for my web hosting needs. I have had to take too much valuable time out of my schedule to settle billing disputes because FatCow does not make it obvious enough in the customer Control Panel how to opt out of services at the end of a billing cycle. Because of this problem, I recently filed a dispute for one of my charges through my credit card company.
My credit card company requested that FatCow respond to the dispute in order to close the matter but FatCow refuses to contact third parties to resolve disputes - what FatCow decided to do instead was to shut down my site for 2 weeks now. Reporting the business to BBB.org did not help because FatCow still refused to respond to the dispute with my credit card company. I am highly unhappy with FatCow as they have taken up too much of my time and their overall policies serve nothing to keep customers satisfied.
I used FatCow domain and hosting services for one year. The big problem I have with them is that their Account management page did not have an option to terminate my account. Instead the best option was 'Do Not Review My Hosting' at the end of the annual subscription.
I proactively checked the account management settings in advance and this option seemed perfect to me, so I chose it. The problem is, 15 days prior to the account termination date, one of the services I took out (a regular domain registration) renewed in advance automatically, even though I created the Account and took out all the services at the same time. The fact that it was going to do this was hidden in a completely separate area.
I can only imagine many people have been caught out by the misleading management settings. I contacted Customer Services but they did not admit the problem, did not refund me and provided no answers to some of the basic questions I asked regarding this. Apart from this, the be fair they did provide good uptime and features, etc. It's just a shame with the technique they used around renewals.
I tried to cancel with Fatcow in their 30 day cancellation period but they continued to send me delaying emails asking me to confirm that i really wanted to cancel and offered other perks if I stayed. On the 31st day they said they would not refund me because 30 days had passed. I was advised however that i would not be charged a $35 early cancellation fee (as if i should feel grateful).
I had already organised another host and had logged into my cPanel a few days prior to requesting cancellation and, under domain settings, had clicked to unlock my account. I followed this up with a request for a domain authorisation code to facilitate transfer which they emailed to me. My attempt to transfer my domain failed because the domain had once again somehow become locked.
I approached Fatcow's support advising that i wanted my domain unlocked and they refused, stating i would need to purchase a hosting package or purchase a domain parking package. No one person followed through on any of my requests to cancel and instead i received emails from multiple people delaying my cancellation attempts and asking pointless questions. I cannot fault the package they offer and, if this project had not required window components that they were unable to deliver I would most likely still be with them.
But isn't that what a cancellation period is all about? An opportunity to find out if the facilities are a good fit or not. The way they have renegged on their cancellation policy and held my domain to ransom demonstrates this host to be dishonest and mean.
I've had my FatCow account for about a month now, and my website has been down about a half-dozen days so far. After the last time the site went down, I started receiving an error message when Outlook tried to retrieve my messages (although I have still been able to send messages). I contacted tech support via the chat option, but the instructions they gave me for setting up an imap account (not the same instructions as found in their control panel, mind you) just substituted one error message for another, so now I am waiting for an email response. Overall, I am finding my entire experience with the company to be a monumental headache.
