I'm really happy with GreenGeeks. Every time I've had a problem I've been able to use their instant chat feature and the support team have helpfully answered all my questions, even the really dumb ones because I'm no computer whizz! I also love that I can say my website is 100% sustainably hosted energy-wise.
I have used webhosting services in many locations for over 10 years, some of them well known names in the industry. There is not one that compares with the level of customer support I have always experienced with GreenGeeks regardless of the technical issue. Communication is quick and helpful, challenges (usually based on my very limited technical knowledge) are addressed efficiently.
I have only had one instance of downtime and this was fixed as quickly as was possible with, once again, courteous and timely communication from GreenGeeks. There is simply no other hosting service I would consider these days!
My longtime hosting provider wasn't offering hosting any more but he recommend I try GreenGeeks. The whole process of switching my hosting to GreenGeeks was quick and painless which is exactly what I want in my hosting provider. Very attentive via email, helpful, responsive, and answered my questions right away. They were great, I'm very happy!
I am the owner of a small 2-person sustainability consultancy and not at all an expert in building or managing websites. I switched to GreenGeeks because of their unlimited data storage plans AND the green management. I have had a good experience so far, being able to receive and keep in store, all that data (unlike my previous hosting service which became more expensive for more storage capacity).
I use Green Geeks for the email domain, but I know I am probably missing out on many other possibilities for website construction; I guess this, as other sites, is really focused to website builders and I don't know enough to even know what tools there are. I wish there was some kind of small tutorial to show all non-website-technical-people like me on the capabilities of the plans and maybe introduction to each tool.
Two things: Renewable Energy and very comfortable service! I really like the GreenGeeks for the fact they they use renewable energy for their servers, this was one of my main criteria when choosing the domain/hosting service and GreenGeeks was definitely the best of what I've found! Keep this on!!! Also very fast response on problem solving and very helpful tips when my account was hacked and was sending spam - they blocked it instantly and gave me great tips on regaining access and making my account more safe!
We switched from another platform because of GreenGeeks eco-friendly platform. Their prices are comparable, their support staff is always helpful and quick to respond, and even I (not savvy with web-stuffs) can navigate the back-end of things. The person who helps me run my website suggested we switch to GreenGeeks because of it's commitment to sustainability, customer support, and ease of use. So far, we've been incredibly happy and content with the switch.
Great support. Had a few bumps in transitioning to GreenGeeks (not related to their service) and they persevered with us until things were solved. Always professional, always giving best efforts, organized and polite.
In a commodity business such as this, customer service is a real difference maker. In our case, GreenGeeks excelled.
GreenGeeks has options for hosting for Canadian residents with servers here in the province which was vitally important to me. They also have very quick support staff which answers phone calls and email tickets quite promptly. After spending years suffering at the hands of 1and1.com it was a refreshing change to move my hosting to a company with a cutting edge and responsive system managed by actual qualified North American staff.
I really like GreenGeeks after sale service they respond fast to any possible question you may have even if it is very simple, plus the speed of the server is better than my previous one. I change host server only because I didn't like the speed of the previous one, in GreenGeeks my site reach better statistics in speed and become more fast this is really important for my customers which they don't like to wait for more than 2-3 seconds to see the product they want to buy.
I have been a GreenGeeks customer for a little more than three years now, and four months agogo renewed my services for another three years. I am pleased with the service, and the customer service even though I did not really have much interaction with them. The only two times I really needed them I did need them badly, and each time I was able to get through to a live person, presumably in Chicago area, and in each case, I was able to either get a problem resolved, or received a good advice how to proceed.
That is my personal experience. Because of my experience, I also recommended this hosting for some of the services needed by an engineering organization I volunteer for. The other members of the IT committee of that organization questioned my choice as there are many competing choices with similar but slightly lower price tags.
However, I convinced them that the excellent customer service and some additional secondary features as unlimited add-on domains can prove very helpful. In the end, we subscribed to one of the plans, and only in the next two months, we did save a lot of money as we did have an unexpected need to get an add-on domain Asap. So, in the end, perhaps we initially overpaid some 10% but ended up saving 100% by prevented doubling the price by avoiding the need for another similar service. So I can proudly say that we were NOT Penny Wise and Pound Foolish.
When deciding on a hosting company, I saw that most companies have approximately the same price point so two things stood out to me about GreenGeeks: 1) they have a Canadian data center, which matters to me if my business expands to the point of working with government or health care clients and 2) their commitment to balancing their environmental impact on the planet by investing into the Bonneville Environmental Foundation. I'm not a super crusader by any means but if I'm going to pay basically the same amount for a service, I might as well give that money to a company that's socially responsible. After signing up for the hosting and starting my first foray into setting up my own website(s), I found the customer service provided by chat to be fast, efficient, friendly and available when I needed them, even late at night.
The whole experience with GreenGeeks has been easy, painless and satisfying. I'm a big fan and will continue to be a customer.
We chose GreenGeeks to host www.portfolio philosophy.com based on our criteria for a reliable and affordable hosting platform aligned with our sustainability goals. GreenGeeks has met or exceeded expectations in all three facets. In addition, the supplied software is great.
I have not really needed tech support in two years, so cannot really comment on this aspect of the service, although this indicates how few issues we have had. I am very happy to recommend GreenGeeks.
I did move three accounts for customers to Greengeeks mainly because of the good price and the excellent support round the clock. The chat to get quick help did more than one time fix urgent problems I got. People are friendly and with patience and anything is fixed fast.
And I like the Cpanel interface and all the possibilities there. Its easy to work on the sites and all is very user friendly. For Drupal users if you use the app to install Drupal you get core updates without having to load the files via FTP like Drupal core still needs.
But to work with the files in the Cpanel makes even this very fast and easy by uploading zipped files. So the Drupal core update is done in minutes via FTP I needed many times hours to update. After trying several hosting companies I found in Greengeeks finally what I needed. Susanne
CadillaC Art & Frame: I love our website!! https://www.cadillacartandframe.com - Using word press is really easy to maneuver through. There are many different selections to use in order to advertise your business.
Green Geeks was there for us in the beginning to answer any questions. I would recommend using Green Geeks as your Website Host. Please feel free to check us out!
I signed up during their Black Friday promotion and thought there wouldn't be anything to lose because they have a 30-day money back guarantee. Shortly after signing up I received an email that I could get additional RAM for a 1-time fee. Nowhere within the email or the web page did it indicate this "Upgrade" was non-refundable even if canceled within the 30 days.
I would have lost $50 simply by canceling within the 30 days and they weren't willing to negotiate. This is also a sub-company or reseller of Single Hop. They don't actually own the data centers - so it's hard to validate
I've had Only positive experiences with Green Geeks since first moving my sites here about 7 years ago. Customer service has been uniformly prompt and helpful every time I've communicated with them. The prices are great and I can't ever remember a time that service was down. Thanks for being a great company.
Reliable partner with good support. Using greengeeks for over 5 years now and never had serious problems. In those years I had a few times a Drupal Issue, probably also because I'm using an old version of Drupal and PHP.
Since I use a shared server the Webservers are probably updated regularly and sometimes it does like my older versions. When I noticed I asked support to look at it and the problem was always solves quickly. Mostly they had to make a minor change in an INI file or a setting.
The support does this fast and things run fine then. Therefore 5 stars for the absolute satisfying support. Their infrastructure seems to be very good as well as I have never experienced unavailability due to hardcore technical problems (like server or network failures).
Regarding features I would like to have something in place that would proactively informs me when the website is not running properly. Obviously, I could go the an external service provider to achieve this but everything in one head should be more cost effective. And yes, I would trust them to give me objective information and alarms.
Their maintenance schedules are sometimes too much focussed at USA time zones. The might give customers an option to select their preferred time zone and cluster them accordingly in appropriate maintenance schedules. Don’t know who does so but it would be nice.
Pricing seems to be fare. I’m quite price sensitive but never found the need to move somewhere else, though I haven’t checked it for a while. Still, I know their support solves issues fast and effectively and never started any discussion about who is responsible. Gives me a good sleep at night
We highly recommend GreenGeeks for your business web hosting needs. We have been with them for 6 years. The best thing I can say is that we barely notice them because the service is so reliable and consistent. And when we have needed support, due to our own deficiencies, they are prompt and responsive.
I've used GreenGeeks since 2010 and have always been pleased with their service and product. Whenever I've had some problems the technical staff is always helpful. The service is quick and efficient.
I would highly recommend GreenGeeks to other businesses. I also have enjoyed the way our website looks and the menu offered.
7 Years of Heaven with Green Geeks Web Hosting
I want to give a big Thank You to the best web hosting company I use. As a web designer, I use several web hosting companies and have found after 7 years with Green Geeks, that they are the only company I use that I have had no complaints about. I highly recommend their services.
GreenGeek has been my hosting company since 2009. During that time support has been excellent, not only replying emails, but giving the extra mile and some advice in between. We started with a small vps and now we have 3 VPS up and running. For some clients/projects sometimes we have to use some accounts hosted with other providers, so we have to deal with them regarding support or billing, so every bad experience with them we appreciate GreenGeeks even more.
Since 2009 I´m a hosting reseller and GreenGeeks was the option from thebeginningg. It was the best option I can made. The support is mind-blowing, is very rare that my clients contact me due to a technical issues because theydon'tt experience them, and when it happens, GreenGeeks don't let me alone, always is there to solve any issue, even if the problem is norelateded to the hosting service, that is crazy!. Thanks guys !
I email support anytime I have something come up, they are fast and helpful every time...even when I lose my cool. I moved to Greengeeks because they utilize renewable energy and I was having trouble with my previous host. I've been with Greengeeks for about 6 years now and I don't plan on going anywhere.
I chose greengeeks after trying a couple of hosting companies. They are my most wanted hosting company that I was searching for. I am a drupal developer, and found greengeeks as the best drupal hosting provider.
Their customer support is amazing, really, their team are so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I chose greengeeks to be my hosting providers, I used them for my website and my clients website. When it comes to drupal, they are the one.
The most important thing is that they provide drush, and that helped me in improving my websites, and maintaing them. Just for it with greengeeks, you will never find a better that them.
We have been customers of Green Geeks since 2009. They have been an excellent company to host our website and simply put we have never had any problems. The site has never been down and everything has run smoothly since then.
Thank you Green Geeks and team! Dan at Alaska's Finest Seafood
Greengeeks has been my supplier since 2009, and in the time I have found their staff to be extremely knowledgeable and helpfull. Their support desk really goes out of the way to provide just that "Great support". The few times that I had to use their onliune chat, responses were quick and helpfull.
I trust these guys to deliver a good deal but over the years they have given me that and more. Thank you Greengeeks!
I used to have a reseller plan at another hosting company but it always gave me problems to the extent that I lost quite a few of my customers, I searched and tried a few before finding my way to greengeeks. They where swift in migrating my clients and to my surprise without any problems or downtime and when I later on moved away from hosting clients they assisted me in a swift manner to migrate my own business websites from reseller to my own hosting without any problem. I have then moved away from them a couple of years but found myself moving back to them and the reliable service they offer.
The only thing I ask myself is why did I move away from them, they are competing at the very top and few companies have managed to do that so consistent for so many years according to my experience and I have tried a lot of the best ones according to others. 5 star hosting and support. Highly recommended!
For any issue I have been met with great customer service, usually my issue is handled immediately and can talk with a real person, always kind and never dismissive. I am a loyal Green Geeks user because of this and their site is super user friendly, no teeth gritting, no 4 hour hold time, no waiting till the wee hours for my info to be updated and wondering if the issue had been fixed. Here's to one service that allows me to not worry and get on with enjoying my day.
Customer support is excellent. They are available for questions and give intelligible answers, and they are actively helpful if necessary. Basic services offered are very comprehensive and extras are reasonably priced. Communication is proactive about what they are doing to improve their service and if you call them they are very responsive.
We are a very satisfied Green Geeks customer because 1) they are prompt and thorough in responding to our support requests and provide frequent updates along the way, 2) the prices are quite competitive, 3) the user interface is friendly and features are expansive, and 4) the uptime has been outstanding. GreenGeeks is one of the best vendors we deal with.
There's nothing "geeky" at all about great website hosting. And GreenGeeks has done an exceptional job hosting the Terri & Sandy website for us. They are incredibly reliable and responsive.
The team at GreenGeeks is always smart, fast and committed to our business. Happy to recommend this exceptional company to others.
GreenGeeks is everything you need and more. The features are abundant, affordability is unparalleled for the inclusions and the support staff are knowledgeable as well as available when you need them. We have been a customer for 7 years and have no plans on switching services. Thank you, GreenGeeks Team for making us feel important and supporting our business with your awesome service!
Green Geeks offers great support, which is probably what I love best - they are always very quick to respond and resolve any issues. I definitely appreciate the instantaneous chat function with the support team. There is very little downtime, and if there is it usually doesn't interfere with the workday.
When compared to other choices out there, the prices are very reasonable too. Combined with the outstanding support, I have been very pleased with Green Geeks.
I give Green Geeks a 10 out of 10 score for quality of performance and service. You provide all of the services I need. I trust the security measures you take.
My site manager is easy to use. The cost is reasonable. Support is always available, knowledgeable, and always helpful and courteous.
Thanks. J. Giannini
Have been with Green Geeks for 6 years now, and during this time I have seen a bunch of improvements to an already a great service to begin with. There's a ton of tools and add-ons for the websites, C-panel control is the industry standard, and, the most importantly, customer service and support seem to never sleep! They respond within minutes 24/7.
The only possible downfall (but this is also an industry standard, I believe) is that the introduction price is much lower than the standard price which kicks in after the intro period. I'm always jealous when I see their promotional prices for the new clients... guys, how about a loyalty discount? :)
The best hosting provider is the one you never think about. We've been happily using GreenGeeks for years and don't give it a second thought because their services just work. Their support is always prompt and courteous, though truthfully we've rarely had to ask them for help. Unobtrusive, unlimited, reliable and eco-friendly: what's not to love?
I have been a Greengeeks customer for 6 years. They provide excellent support, charge as good a price as any provider and provide plenty of free tools to use, from low tech ftp to site builder and more. There are no restrictions, for example I redirect my emails to an anti-spam service and it was really straightforward to setup.
The fact that they are also green with no premium is definitely a bonus. I would highly recommend.
I have been a customer of GreenGeeks for some years. Because the uptime and maintenance has been so good I have had little experience with GG Support but on the few occasions I have had to call on them they have been quick to respond and always got my issue resolved right away. So I give them a 5 star on support.
As for value . GG is an excellent vale. As Canadians we are at the mercy of the exchange rate on a lot of things and often find a US product to be pretty expensive by the time the exchange rate is applied particularly when our dollar is at a disadvantage but even at that considering the service I have received I think it is a Great value. I have no hesitation recommending GG to anyone looking for a great provider.
My main reason for using Green Geeks is its environmental focus. Knowing that it's all run on renewable energy was a big draw for me. But I have also found the cost to be competitive and it is full of useful free features and add-ons.
But most of all, on the few occasions that I have contacted support, the problems were fixed quickly. I am very happy to recommend Green Geeks.
I've been a Green Geeks Customer for a few years now. I'm a developer and put a LOT of strain on the servers I use and GreenGeeks consistently keeps them up and running for me. It took a little while to get in the groove, as their one weakness is "recommending" the right product for the task.
This may be a case of not wanting to "over promise". This is refreshing once you get used to it as this field is nothing but non-stop challenges and I want people who actually solve problems rather than "promise" to solve problems. Green geeks delivers.
Once I got a set-up that worked for me, it's been hassle free with very quick response to my needs. I like what they stand for and gave them 5 stars across the board because they have taken care of me on a regular basis.
Problems after problems. Been with them for 3 years and I've had enough. Last week we were left with 13 customers without email for a full day, the reason: Oops, we changed DNS by mistake.
This is only but ONE issue I've had over the years. Countless times I've asked management to call or even email. Did they?
Nop. Stay away you are warned.
Wow - I am a patient person, but this is the worst experience I have ever had with a hosting company. I am a season web developer, and they did a few things which were un-acceptable to me..
1. They did not provision the machine for over 24 hours, and even when it was, it was incomplete ( I had to file a support ticket for WHM to be installed, which took another 12 hours )
2.
They don't have 24 hour support - well, they do, but via chat only, and the chat people just tell you to call in the morning.
3. When I tried to get a refund, they ran me through a month of hoops, and kept billing me. Very bad experience - I would stay away! Go with fatcow.com if you are looking for 'green' hosts.
Today I used your chat support. And I must say it is the best support I have ever gotten. I got help from Michael C.
it only took 2 minutes for me to start the chat to I got all the help I needed. My problem was that my IP was blocked from one of your domains. Abit of "Robotic" answers in the beginning but it got sorted out pretty quick. I am have some domains out there but, if I can expect this class support I might just think of changing over to GreenGeeks.
Site goes down every time I reach small peak 300 visits day, all time support is trying to up sell the account to one more expensive when there really no need. Support answers really fast and good. Price is really good for a reseller account but my clients are pissed of because of the downtime.
Also hard to understand sites go down and they do not even notify you this...terrible, you need to use an alert to see if you site is online. The rest of features are good.
I would suggest friends, businesses and everyone who wants a reliable host. Helpful, friendly, technical knowledge and the price is above average. The do what they say and I am a dummy with VPS techniques.
But at GreenGeeks they dont mind better even they teach also! Where do you find such a host? GreenGeeks.com is where to go and never look back.
And they are all Green and you know what that means! Today we need green webhosting. At GreenGeeks they provide greenhosting and we all should use that.
Better for your wallet and the environment! Read all about it at greengeeks.com how they stay green and keeping it green. regards,
Hank Rooney
Green Geeks Absolutely Rock
Green Geeks
Is the best hosting service I have used yet! I have been using various services
since my first appearance online (1999)
Green Geeks beats them All
The Proof is in the eating of the Pudding! Don't take my word - Try them!
GreenGeeks has given me great service and support, and provided reliable uptime for my business Websites and email accounts for over a decade. I especially like cPanel and WHM Account Manager. I like that GreenGeeks cares about our environment and uses renewable energy. I highly recommend GreenGeeks to anyone who needs reliable Web hosting.
I chose GreenGeeks after researching extensively to find a web host with an eco-conscious business plan and GreenGeeks is one of the top rated for low carbon footprint. That was important to me. But what is also important to me is that I get consistently good technical help, as I am not super technically oriented.
GreenGeeks has been responsive both through email and the hotline. Their advice has been overall patient and helpful. I appreciate being able to hop online with questions and get immediate answers without being made to feel like they are talking to an idiot! :0) For the price I pay annually I have more than enough resources to float my several different websites - some of my friends pay less with other hosts but have continually frustrating lack of assistance.
GreenGeeks rocks! I am always bragging about how much I like my webhost!
I've been using GreenGeeks for over seven years now and I can't ever remember not having my emails go unanswered. Service is reliable, questions are answered quickly and all my websites load in half the time as their competitors. I wouldn't change service providers. I might offer more reseller options if I were them, but it isn't a deal breaker.
Support always gives a quick and intelligent response. You won't be going back and forth trying to explain until you finally reach the one person who understands, and you won't be left feeling like they didn't even read past the first sentence. Never had a problem with up time, emails arrive quickly.
GreenGeeks rocks! I've been with them for years and have had no major issues. Whenever I email or call support, they are right on the ball and very helpful.
Very flexible and friendly. I would highly recommend GreenGeeks for their hosting and domain service. I am currently on their shared server plan but may also look into a VPS solution.
We have a Web Host Manager package from Green Geeks. As happens, from time to time problems have occurred with our hosting, or for our clients. Whether it is us or one of our clients, Green Geeks has been responsive and helpful every time, getting the problem resolved quickly, efficiently and permanently.
We have never had problems recur or appear over and over again when using Green Geeks. Working with Green Geeks support has been so easy and enjoyable.
I have worked with a wide variety of hosting companies, but for the sites I host, I use Greengeeks because the uptime and customer service are so good. I also like that they make an effort to have a greener footprint. Their staff is available to solve problems quickly and they communicate very well with excellent English skills. I have been with them for several years and will continue.
We have been with GreenGeeks for about a year, and are very pleased with their level of service and support. We signed up, and within a few hours, they migrated us to their servers for free. We started off with a shared account, which quickly grew into more traffic than it could handle.
We moved to the $59.95/per month VPS server, which all took place within an hour of the request. We continued to grow in traffic, and have just upgraded to the $99/month VPS server, again, the upgrade happening within an hour of notification. As far as service, I have nothing but good things to say about GreenGeeks.
We had several issues during the initial phase of web development, which we did ourselves, and even though most of the issues were not hosting related, every one of their support staff jumped in and helped us out when requested. We use CloudFlare on our site to assist in the deployment of content and recently had an issue develop which resulted in DNS errors. The problem ended up being on Cloudflare's end.
Despite that, GreenGeeks support staff jumped right in, escalating the ticket and gave us answers as to what was happening, and where the issue was originating, as well as the best options to resolve the problem. I should note, that we paid for the shared hosting plan for 3 years, and after moving to a VPS server, and making a request, they billing department quickly transferred our shared hosting credit to our VPS server account. We have used 2 other hosts for our website, and never have we had the support that we get with Greengeeks.
First off, knowing that Green Geeks is using renewable energy is a big win. It always feels good to know that my website is being housed by an environmentally conscious company. Secondly, they have Amazing customer service.
They are extremely patient and extremely knowledgeable. Thirdly Green Geeks is always up and running, reliable, and safe. It's the kind of company that works for you without you knowing and they are there for you when you need them.
I have had to use support for simple things regarding uploading as well as difficult things and the team has been outstanding. I could not be more pleased with this company, products and service.
I've been a Green Geeks costumer for over 5 years. Over the last year, their support has gone down the tubes. It started with a change on their end that blocked my IP from accessing my own FTP.
Although this was not clear at the time. The error message given by FTP clients was "Disconnected due to 20 seconds of inactivity..."
Support asked for me "login creditials" and so I told them my account/user name, and connecting server information. I got asked for more detail, and after a couple of back and forths, I was directly asked for my username & password combination.
Whoa! Who asks for that? They already had the capability to connect as me with super-user access, without knowing my password.
After some delay, I decided that if this was necessary, alright, let's be safe. I changed my FTP password to a temp password I could share. Soon after doing this, but before sharing even this password, I decided to try all available routes.
A 10 minute live-chat was able to figure out what days of back-and-forth could not. They had blocked my IP (which was dynamically allocated by the ISP), and just needed to add it to the whitelist. Seems like things got sorted in the end, right?
No. Changing my password caused a whole host of problems. One of the core ones was the ability to change my password back to a secure password of my own choosing.
When you set up an account, they allow passwords of a great length, which facilitates great security. However, this is only true during account creation. When you change a password, the connection is broken, and the two accounts become treated as if they are separate.
Determining which password works for which system becomes a nightmare. cPanel access is no longer granted by a single log-in, and they have an IP blocking system so stringent, that just a couple of tries provokes a block, necessitating a support ticket to resolve, compounding delay after delay. After months (Aug-Oct) of back and forth, we determined that although their account-management would allow me to have passwords of great length, for server-management, they were limited by cPanel's "secure" password algorithms (which, in the case of the version GG has installed, rates "password1000" as 80/100 in security, but passwords over 20 characters as 0/100 without an increasing mix of non-alphanum characters - and as anyone with basic security knows, password length is more important than random complexity, and forcing passwords that are impossible to memorize only ends up making them less secure).
During this process, they continued to put blame onto me for changing my password (and refused to admit any responsibility for the breach of trust by support, even when prompted), and the ticket was handed off to different people, at each time I would have to re-explain the problem we were trying to solve. It became clear their support staff does not even read ticket history! In the end, I lowered my standards to simply wanting them to accept responsibility for allowing support to cross the line of asking for a customer's password, especially over a plain-text-and-emailed support ticket system, but instead, I would be handed off to the next support person, and we started over with "did you try turning it off and on again."
On top of this, their servers are often slow, and although rarely down, I would regularly get up to 1-minute load times before a connection would be made to my hosted websites and date began to get pulled. This sluggishness has grown severe over the past year, and was made more apparent the more monkeying around in the cPanel was asked of me.
Green Geeks offers all the tools and support any company needs. If I have a client that needs a new host I only consider GreenGeeks.com. For web designers in the know there is no other company at any price.
If you want Your Site to work, be monitored for its fitness and security, and care about the environment there is only one hosting company to consider. Jeff Watters
HavreDeGraceDesign.com
GreenGeeks is the best web hosting service, bar none. They led me gently through migrating my domain from another carrier. Ever since, the GreenGeeks team has been immediately accessible via phone 24/7. See http://www.greengeeks.com/web-hosting/ for a list of services provided for an extremely low price.
Good bang for the buck with power consumption offset by green power sources. Uptime has been excellent. Although I have a basic package there is not disk space limitation or bandwidth worries.
I also appreciate the fact that my domains for which I don't use greengeeks as the DNS provider were set up quickly. I've had a contact them a couple of times for support and the response has always been very prompt. Having worked in the hosting space myself I can say that they provide rock solid service.
They promise 99.9% up-time, but we received under 96%. That doesn't sound bad, but when you have 6 customers call you and ask why their website has been down for over 2 hours on a tuesday mid-day, it's very bad. GreenGeeks constantly used an excuse called "Ddos attacks".
We've migrated every site we had and now have no problems at all and 99.8% up time. We migrated to BlueHost and they have been Awesome. We also discovered that migrating to BlueHost gave us 15% faster site-speed.
What really bothered me, is that GreenGeeks just don't care when all of your customers websites are down. They refuse to respond to a message I sent asking if they would be able to compensate me for my lost time. They just wrote back and said "the websites seem to be back up now".
I got bounced around in an email chain but no matter how far i got up their little chain of command, i didn't meet anyone who cared that these people's online businesses were being shut down. One last thing, on 3 occassions, we found out because one of our customers called us, that green geeks had gone in and changed the htaccess file blocking access to the backend so our customers could not log into their websites. (Because they were trying to stop the Ddos attacks). While that may not be insane if they were struggling to think of how to get their servers to work, it is insane that do not send any notifications to us, the webmasters, or our clients whose sites were running there.
I almost forgot to mention, we originally were on shared hosting, but we Upgraded to a Virtual Private Server because they Assured us that Ddos attacks really don't happen to VPS servers, which are 4 times more expensive than shared hosting. I trusted them, what a big mistake. Soooo happy to have just closed my account.
I told them if they would rebate me 2 months (which is the least they could do) I wouldn't leave a negative review. Guess what their response was.
I was a happy customer for three years. Toward the end of my three year term, I decided to move my sites from a shared server to a VPS. Couple days before the end of term GreenGeeks charged my credit card on file for another 3 years.
When I complained that they charged before the term was up, they referred to an email they supposedly send some time earlier announcing that they will be doing that. I cancelled before the end of contract, but they refused to refund the early charge in full. They withheld 30% to "cover their non-refundable expenses".
When I asked what they were, they explained that they had to withheld $50 to pay for hosting, management fees and domain name registration. While I can understand the last one, I certainly did not agree with the other two. There's been no hosting, or management as I cancelled the service before the end of term.
I recommend they change their name to GreedyGeeks, as it seems more appropriate. Think twice before you sign-up with them, you've been warned.
Hi,
The guys at Green Geeks are very serious in what they do. Describing technical matters would be easy and many might do it, but let me tell you about a story where they intervened and helped. One time I had some a brute force attack on several of my wordpress websites, so many of those websites went down.
I contacted the support team, and within few hours they helped me get back the websites, update them, protect them and helped me create some prevention methods for the future. I believe their support is highly qualified. And I would definitely recommend Green Geeks for anyone to use.
I am a newbie in so many ways. From hosting to WordPress to just about anything that has to do with website building. I have called, emailed, setup support tickets and chatted with the GreenGeeks team more than I should admit.
They have always been very patient with me explaining and helping out beyond their promise of support. So long as I need web hosting, I will always be a GreenGeeks customer. Go greengeeks!
These guys are great, great price, great customer service, and great backend programs. Easy to use and understand. I also really like that they are almost always available via live chat. Good work.
I've hosted websites with many different web hosting companies over the years. Sometimes things start out great, then go sour as soon as I have to contact support. Or, sometimes it's just an awful experience from the get-go.
GreenGeeks, however, has been awesome from the beginning and each time I contact support they respond quickly and don't try and blame me even if it may be my fault that my site crashed. Ugo and Galvin are the two support folks that helped me recently. I feel like I'm running some major site and they are my personal on staff support team.
Even though I just have a small shared hosting site. Seriously, it feels really good working with GreenGeeks support. On top of all that, the design of their site is nice, plus it doesn't cost much to host with them.
I almost forgot... they are green too! So you get awesome, fast support and you get to help save the planet.
I have used lots of hosts in the past and let me tell you GreenGeeks takes the cake. Their instant support with Superb technical abilities makes it a no brainer. I use a bi-yearly plan and recommend that you do the same.
I have multiple domains and subdomains with SSL support so if that sounds like you. Don't hesitate! Whoo Hoo!! Skyboard Studios
Green Geeks is the worse Web hosting company. Stay away!! They don't or can't do what they say. 6 days ago they were to migrate my site. 6 days Nothing! 6 days my site was Down.
Eventually I had to go back to where I was initially . When all this time, and after numerous phone call and emails they were supposed to be migrating my site. The only thing they are quick at is charging your Credit Card.
Research them on the interne. Pay special attention to their 30 day refund claim. Many have reported that they refuse to refund.
I am out of almost $80.00, Nothing to show for it, and so begins the War of actually receiving a refund. Don't Make the same mistake I did. Do your home work first!
GreenGeeks is the worst hosting company I have Ever dealt with. The uptime is like 5% . My site is Always down.
They claim I get too much traffic so I upgraded to the next package then they claim it was security problems and locked me out of my site. Right now my hosting is about $100 a month and when people go to my site it appears to be down as if I haven't paid a dime. I was with them for 3 months and honestly my site was down more than it was up.
I lost Major money by dealing with them. If you are going to run a high traffic site it's best that you pay and get a Good host. You get what you pay for.
GreenGeeks isn't even worth paying for... Then they had the audacity to charge me a late fee for paying the bill late. Not once did they ever offer me a discount for all of the downtime either. Sucks!
GreenGeeks is always responsive to my requests. You still need to know what you're doing, but they will (and do!) help you on your web hosting journey!
I've been with GreenGeeks for over a year and the support has been excellent from day one. As a 'drupal newby' I started out with many issues and they never failed to get to the root of the issue, every time. Great work by the team at GreenGeeks
GreenGeeks Rock because of their unfailing support. When all other rely on a lengthy ticket process, or worse... ugh...
Forums, these guys are in the trenches 24/7 to fix it. Even if it is not their job... With a little love, they fix it. And, they don't stop following up until it is resolved in your mind, not theirs. #incomparable.
Everything that I needed until now, I got... When I had any issue it was solved fast by the team. I hope they will keep this way! Thank you all...
I was a die hard BlueHost fan with tons of accounts for all my customers. I ran into an issue in which I realized unlimited does not mean unlimited!! I had then gone to 1and1 that assured me they were.
Turns out, no, they were not. Not to mention the horrible customer service there(1and1). Bluehost was always pretty good until this.
I then came across GreenGeeks. They are truly unlimited and their customer service was great And us based! They have the right price and features and are Unlimited.
I am slowly moving all my accounts over to them. Thanks GreenGeeks
GreenGeeks Rocks!!! Amazing customer service & love the word Unlimited on each of their package.. :)
Greet work & more power to the team..
GreenGeeks what should i say, It's the best hosting i saw it ever. Let's start from scratch, when i heard of it first it was only google search i was confused and i selected it only for try. Their verification process was super-fast, in less than 5 minutes my account was UP and ready to work, their support is also Super-Super-fast, if you have a problem just click on live chat and you'll find them waiting for you, they fix your problem and give you suggestions. i tried their webhosting and VPS, i'm really satisfied, Thank you GreenGeek, You are the best and you deserve to be in the TOP #1 ♥.
GreenGeeks, a name that for me has been associated with pain. We are developers with decades of experience between us and encountered GreenGeeks though a client we develop for. Since the pain is fresh, I apologize if my vitriol comes through; I will try to stay objective.
GreenGeeks is a budget host, so we expected the usual site slowness and less-than-ideal email delivery. It’s GreenGeeks’ business practices we have a problem with. Ssl certificate
Our first encounter was setting up an SSL certificate for what had just become an ecommerce site.
There was no means to purchase an SSL except by contacting support. Buying SSLs is wearisome with many hosts and this was no exception. About a week after purchasing the certificate and Dedicated IP, the site went down.
GreenGeeks had failed to change the DNS to point at the new IP. The SSL certificate itself was plagued with problems, requiring all kinds of coding work by us to get it to work on mobile devices. GreenGeeks’ usual response to this was “there’s nothing we can do”.
Much later on, when we wanted to transfer the SSL files to another host, we were told it would not work unless the site was hosted with GreenGeeks. This untrue as it worked this way for quite some time. Cancelling greengeeks
As we moved to the new host, we began talking to GreenGeeks about the usual cancellation policy.
Most hosts will give you a pro-rated refund or an account credit if you cancel before your term is over, but not GreenGeeks. They refused to even give credit for any of the services we wished to cancel, but the real nightmare was yet to come. We cancelled the hosting, SSL and Dedicated IP just before the renewal date but NOT the domain registration.
Suddenly, the site went down. When we went into domain management and could not change the DNS records, we were told finally that you have to have a hosting plan to do that. No registrar we’ve ever worked with insists on hosting with them to manage your domain.
As still-paying customers in a bind, they would not change the records for us. We transferred the domain to another registrar only to be told that approval, which normally takes a few hours, would take a full week. We found a workaround that required they cancel the transfer but they refused to do so, trying to pass the buck to the new registrar.
In the end, we were forced to buy a new domain and use it to keep the site up, waiting for the domain transfer to complete, then switch it back. Aftermath
After all this, I encountered an interesting line item on a paid GreenGeeks invoice:
Domain Renewal - xxxxxxx.com - 1 Year/s (09/17/2014 - 09/16/2015) + DNS Management ($28.95)
This was a glimmer of hope to restore the site fast. It turns out though that GreenGeeks charges nearly $30 for a $10 domain and you still don’t get access to DNS records without hosting.
Alas, their products are strangely and invisibly intertwined, assumably to maximize profit. In summary
GreenGeeks has good and fast service, superficially. Even in my most frustrated moments, the front line tech support people calmly did what they could.
However GreenGeeks’ business policies are extremely possessive. Even with our decades of experience, our workarounds and the hard work of tech support, the people behind the scenes would not budge an inch to accommodate us at any point. GreenGeeks is an average host technologically but really shines if you enjoy being locked tightly into your hosting services.
Their polices are outside the industry norm. Sooner or later, you’ll want to change or cancel something; then get ready to be stonewalled. Better yet, don’t sign up in the first place.
greengeeks failed for me for a few reasons, slow hosting was an issue , I could deal but #1 the issue I have has not happened even on godaddy, which inmho is the worst, problem is if you have a blank. Htaccess or even a working. Htaccess you cannot go to any directory under public_html
I made a /sandbox dir added a blank.
Htaccess in both root and the sandbox dir, I verified the htaccess works locally and via another host I use
error
Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe
why would you deny access by default, if there's no. Htaccess or its empty then ignore it, or fire your server admin, im fed up.
Greengeeks web hosting is both efficient and reliable. I'm using Greengeeks for two years now and I've never encountered any kind of problem with them. Customer support is OK and up-time really close to 100% (very quick maintenance a few times a year at night time). Strongly recommended!
I am a web developer who was looking for a good host to place client websites on shared hosting and Virtual Private server packages. I have profiled a LOT of hosts over the years and have experienced all kinds of service levels and issues related to hosting. My experience goes fart beyond just a user with a site and includes everything fro Shell access, MySQL management, INI file edits, and log troubleshooting.
My point is I am not a spring chicken when it comes to using hosting and knowing about their services. Green Geeks Started out as a good host, but after several years things began to changed on several different client hosted sites. Remember these are all different shared hosting accounts and they are NOT on my Virtual Private Server so the problems cannot be compared.
Green Geeks Issues:
1. Servers began to continuously slow down in early 2013 and would often timeout completely. This went on for months and resulted in us having to move one site to another host by the summer of 2013.
2.
Support told me on 2 different hosting accounts all using a standard WordPress installation that we caused a Ddos attack? We aren't Anonymous over here how did we exactly cause a Ddos attack?
3. Without consultation they installed authentication plugins on our account that did not work well and wouldn't function on tablet and smartphone that severely compromised our ability to access our Administration area for both wordpress and joomal Content Management Systems for the site.
4.
We were told that 2 different sites were not optimized even though we spent lots of time and money installing and optimizing cache systems that reduced Http requests, resources, and queries to negligible levels. When we asked them to clarify we were offered NO details and told to optimize our site using the same canned response that we received the first time.
5. We were charged for add ons that we did not want (SSL and Static IP Address), This was partly my fault for not cancelling the account right away (Which is buried on their site).
Once I submitted a cancellation request they continued to charge us for additional Addons to our account!!! I asked for a refund and they told us Addons are not refundable. Basically taking our money after we cancelled and then refusing to give it back.
6.
Finally after we managed to Cancel our account we were told that our site would remain active, and that we would have to submit another ticket to get rid of it otherwise it would remain active till 2016!
7. Out of numerous support tickets over 10 different shared hosting accounts, and 2 different VPS accounts I can say with a high degree of certainty that Green Geeks support system is generally a rapid series of canned responses. Now here is the rub.
All the cheap shared hosting are generally the same. Green Geeks refusing to refund stuff is unique however. I have generally been given a refund by other hosts, even some hosts who have 30 day hosting policies have returned money when asked after the 30 day period.
Green Geeks to date has taken rough $110 dollars worth of payments hostage from 2 different accounts with Add ons. Not to mention about 2 hours of back and forth time with their support system that I wont charge my client for even though my time is worth $75 hourly. If you want a host that Really does customer service then I recommend A Small Orange.
I have enjoyed working with Green Geeks over the past few years, and even meeting the president at DrupalCon Denver in '13. When I needed technical support (I am a newbie) the staff there has been extremely helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend Green Geeks as a server for anyone doing any time of Content Management system websites such as WordPress or Drupal. I use them for both of these types of websites.
I had a few problems to set up my new account, but thanks to the awesome support of GreenGeeks finally I managed it. Their support is outstanding. Very fast and friendly.
Even I'm using my webspace for a short time, I'm very happy with my choice. The hosting package is coming with a bunch of free software, like 1-Click WordPress installation and unlimited databases. For me one of the crucial factors because I'm going to host a number of WordPress sites on myspace. I would definitely recommend Green Geeks!
I've been using GreenGeeks for two years now and couldn't be happier. They probably have the best customer support of any other company I've worked with. Not only do their plans offer all the features of all the other competitors, but they're 300% green and are similarly priced.
I've never experience down time, or more than 20 minute response time from customer support (even at 3:30 am). If you're looking for a new web hosting company, look no further.
The support is Absolutely amazing!!!!!! I cannot say enough about how incredible the staff is, how quickly they respond and always with a solution and for Free! I have needed the 24/7 live chat quite a few times as I am a beginner with all of the technical stuff, and they have been incredible!
Today I had a problem with my site that a technician worked on almost the entire day to resolve. He was patient. When someone is learning something new, that is a very important customer service quality. Thank you, Vance.
GreenGeeks reseller hosting service is Great! The price of the packages is excelent along with their 24/7 support team. I'm very happy with their service.
GreenGeeks are amazing with freedom. Unlimited everything! You pay the least that is required for your amount of activity and if you start to cross over into needing a dedicated server, or something more, they let you know!
They support is fast and very very efficient. Whether it be an issue I know how to solve, or even if I'm completely in the dark, they never fail to impress me.
Outstanding!!! They're incredibly attentive to your needs and the folks in Migration (Ron, Will, the rest of the group) go all out to help you in anyway they can - a great bunch of professionals! I initially signed up for just 1 month to try their Reseller Hosting services out (as I've been burned before with other company's long term hosting commitments that turned out bad) and 5 days later - I signed up for the year!!!
Keep up the great work GreenGeeks!!!! Thanks! Steve Gibbs

We've been using Green Geeks for 4 /12 years now and are picky since we ran our own regional data center and network from 1997-2005. Great technical support and excellent value. If your still hosting your sites on a provider that takes 72 to respond to a request Why are you? Great Price and Good Value, plus they are carbon neutral,
First time I approached Support Service as I am new to Green Geeks. Yes rocks. Excellent and my issue was resolved under 6 minutes.
Great job! I was having issues with logging in as the password I received was not working. I got in touch with Support team (David) and told him what the issue was.
He asked me to try again and give him the error message and I did so. He reset the password and sent me a message in under 2 seconds. I tried the new login and Bingo!
it worked. So now, I can meet my dead line with the University!!!! Really Appreciate it.
Green Geeks. Have been fantastic. I use them to host my hostel site www.myokopowderhostel.com, and they have been able to fix any problem I have asked.
These problems include messing up my whole wordpress database taking my site down. I used web chat and within minutes they had fixed it and got my wordpress site back online. I tried installing an SSL ticket but it failed, again within minutes of a webchat they had fixed it.
They answer the webchat 24/7 which is great given I live in Japan. Their site migration tool is extremely useful and they will migrate your full site from your current provider onto their servers and make sure it works ( I did this from HostGator)
The SEO tools are very useful and help increase the site rankings, some of these tools are free. The cost for 3 years of hosting and domain name registry is excellent value.
All in all they have been fantastic which no problems and almost a year of hosting with them now. Since I host a business with them it is very important the site is never down and this has never been the case, so I have full confidence in them. Best selling points are their quick webchat and best of all 300% green!!! Amazing
I was doing like at least 6 things at once + thinking about 2 days ahead what i have to do and i purchased vps at them without even focusing that i need windows one. I opened the ticket in very same moment to explain to them my error. (yes i am an idiot ... paying something i do not need).
And they responded Asap like no questions asked. No bad feeling like >> your fault idiot << nothing. Really supreme fast support.
If i will need a good linux vps with even better support? Count me in! I usually do not write reviews because i let other geeks to do it but in this case i would feel ashamed without doing it. Thank you for great exp greenGeeks
Here's the specifics. The primary domain I chose for my reseller account was wrong. I realized my mistake and thought "crap"...
now I have to wait on these guys to get the problem fixed. I emailed customer support and their reply came back in less than an hour. From there we went back and forth on some details, almost as fast as an online chat.
Pretty amazing... they stuck with it until the issue was fixed. Galvin and the gang are Customer Service Superstars! Many thanks!
Green geeks the company that loves to say F... you! customer service is totally crap
billing don't know what they are doing.
you cannot get problems resolved
they say that PHP scripts work but you can NOT get ports opened on shared servers. Very difficult to cancel order take an age to get any money back
they will try to "charge" you for the privilege ! as for the free domain you do not control it they do.
I have several client sites as well as my own site with Green Geeks and my experience been great so far. Everything works, the pricing is reasonable. They checked in with me to make sure I wasn't having any problems.
I had a couple of questions and somebody from the Support Team got right back to me with answers. Also, I love the fact that they are green as far as energy is concerned. No complaints. I recommend Green Geeks.
Worst company ever. Avoid at all costs. Instead of taking responsibility for their poor hosting, they will tell you to read a book, or just shut you off with no warning.
If you want to have a worry free web host, this is Not the place. Look the other way and don't look back.
GreenGeeks is awesome! Their customer support is wonderful! Their prices are good! And they are doing their part to help keep things Green!
GreenGeeks are always 100% available, and that is what anyone needs in a web site hosting service. I have been using them for a few years now, and can't say enough good things about all the tech people. I am changing all my clients to Greengeeks as the time comes up.
Greengeeks rocks because it is:
1. Green - they protect the environment!
2. Esay to activate and to use!
3. The support is always helpful, on time and nice!
1. Price, support, memory, drupal support.
2. Very fast, with great quality.
3. I usually use 2 level.
4. Very fast, with great quality.
5. For all.
6. Yes.
GreenGeeks made hosting our service club's webpage very simple as well as saved us money and added more features! Anytime I've had to contact support, it was always a smooth and pleasant experience and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. I've recommended their services to others who have made the switch and are very satisfied as well!
