I have recently changed my hosting over to Hostpapa and I am delighted that I did. I find they are very helpful and responsive to my email. Their price is unbeatable as far as I can tell & I've done a lot of searching and Hostpapa is definitely the best deal out there.
The reason I gave 4/5 for support is that I find their online chat system tends to be quite slow. But what they may lack in online chat they totally make for with their very responsive email support.
HostPapa is one of our preferred hosts. They respond to all issues professionally and in a timely fashion. I would, and do, recommend them to many of our clients.
I would never recommend this hosting company to anyone. I've been with hostpapa for 2 years and all I got was trouble. To start with, I was offered a free domain with my hosting account so I decided to transfer my domain to hostpapa.
Every year, when it's time for domain name renewal, although it was free, they did not renew it. This happened twice in the two years that I was with them. It took more than 5 days in each time to get the domain active again.
This at least was fixed, to move to the worst problem, I received one day an email from them saying that my account was hacked and the files were compromised. They said my account was suspended and they need my authorization to reset my account which means deleting all my files. I refused to give them authorization and kept asking to get access to my files which they refused to do.
I asked to speak with a manager. Someone called me claiming he's the manager but all I got from him was the same response, the only way to get my account back is to reset it. I still didn't give them authorization, I am hoping I could get the files back one day.
HostPapa is the best ! The price is right, the features are more than enough, the service is great and the uptime is far far better than my previous web hosting company. I highly recommend hosting your website with HostPapa.
We just got a mail saying: "Take 5 minutes, submit your positive HostPapa review to one of the sites below, and in return we'll give you up to $36 worth of HostPapa services!"
Unfortunately we just left HostPapa. We had weeks of complaining when we had 500 errors, and being told the issue was resolved. The fourth time we contacted support, we were told instead: "Your account has way to many connections for shared host you will need to looks at moving to a VPS or dedicated hosting account. Unfortunately at this time we only provide Shared hosting accounts."
HostPapa is excellent because I don't even know it's there... no blips, glitches or rotten things happening to my website. Just smooth sailing.
Great value for money. When I did need help at the beginning because I was a newbie, the phone service was top-notch. I've recommended HostPapa to a bunch of people.
Oh, and I like the fact that it's Canadian. Like me.
Hostpapa are a terrible provider. I signed up for a year. Within a day I ran into problems when the couldn't manage to transfer my domain properly.
Then all wordpress sites i had slowed to a snails pace. when i tried to get them to have a look they just kept sending the same pre template response ticket time after time, my sites had gone that slow some were taking a muinute to load if at all.My web sites heve been down litrily dosens of time over the space on 10 months. Any time i was using ftp i was getting a resource reached limit on my websites.
Half the time i couldn't even use the admin area. After about 2 months of sending tickets i finally got someone from teck support to half fix the problem. About a month later my site gets hacked. Hostpapa then shut down my account telling me i have to agree to delete my whole account and start all my websites from scratch before they will reopen it.
I have been hosting my site Erika Farkas.com for more than 2 years now with HostPapa, and so far, I only have good things to say about them. Good quality, good value... I have been recommending them to all my friends and colleagues.
Pricing is great and CPanel is offered at the base level. The speed is nice a fast. The only thing that's missing is SSH access.
The customer support is extremely unhelpful. Some rude guy even sent me a link to an incomplete blog post as an answer to my question. My website was down for two days and I had to solve my database issue myself because live support could not help me and e-mail support didn't even try to look into my issues.
Price is good, though. But if you want to stay away from grey hair, choose another host.
If you are outside US (they have the datacenter there)
Stay away, we hosted our site with them and it is slow as hell from outside US, after a research on the server, we found that the IP address has 886 websites in it!!! They are overselling. Aint speak abot support, it's very poor.
Hostpapa very good customer service overall, had no problem speaking to an online support agent to deal with my queries very helpful agent helped me with my problems fast and efficiently. Good pricing structure and overall excellent services provided by a company which seems to put customer service at the top of its priorities
Firstly, highly affordable. Very user-friendly, practical templates. Support is near real-time, and to the point without beating-around-the-bush'.
Editing and adding on information to existing content is easily accomplished, and publishing is just a 'click' of the 'Publish' button. I would, without any hesitation, recommend HostPapa Website Building and Hosting Services to budding entrepreneurs.
Although fixing the few issues I've had, has not always been easy, each time I had no trouble contacting support either through the web chat or phone. This in my limited experience is 'Very' unusual and for that reason alone I would recommend Hostpapa to anyone. The price range is also quite impressive so together I am happy with the service.
If I were to complain about anything, it would be the confusion I find with the dashboard, however this could be because I have very limited technical knowledge. But then surely there are lots of us out there, and maybe it could be simplified or just explained for novices a bit better.
We have been using Host Papa for years. Great service Reliable and inexpensive. I recommend this to all of our friends and Business partners.
Host Papa is one of the reasons we have been so successful. Keep up the good work. David Willis

Hostpapa is by far the best host I've ever used, and prior to my current service that I have with them, I've used two or three different companies. Their service is phenomenal. Their prices are more than reasonable, they're a fully green company, and not to mention, their affiliate program has basically been responsible for paying my hosting service on multiple occasions.
I cannot say enough great things about Hostpapa. You won't regret signing up with them!
I have been using HostPapa for over 7 years. I am currently operating 4 websites with them and I am extremely satisfied with their service and the value for money. The websites are always "up".
They are hosted in Canada which is important for me. They have a good selection of tools in the control panel. There are plenty of email and domain forwarding options to handle a variety of website configurations.
They are also very responsive to all customer service request. Recently, when the Heartbleed bug came to light, HostPapa was proactive in letting us know immediately that the appropriate patches were put in place for our continued safety.
I have been a HostPapa customer for a few years and while I have one of their basic hosting packages, it gives me everything I could want and more. I have the room to experiment with new Cms's to see if they are suitable for my site, I have room to store lots of images and videos, which is great for a photographer. While they have created a backend that is very user friendly, and can instantly install programs for you, it is possible to go in and tweak or build your own files.
Most importantly their customer service is always able to help, or point me in the right direction for information I'm looking for. I am in the middle of moving a site I work on for a group, over to Hostpapa, because the current provider cost more and has less space.
I have to say, the thing that I value about HostPapa the most is that I cannot remember a single time there my website has been down. I have been using them for more than 3 years and have never received an interruption in service, something that is essential because all of my Business is generated through my website.
Hostpapa was our provider for several years. While our site was custom developed we had a good experience with no problems. However, we opted to go with a hosted membership management application and website about 18 months ago, so only needed domain hosting/redirection going forward.
Hostpapa's support staff were not able to help our volunteer staff to set up the redirection of our domain A and Cname records, and instead suggested that we move our hosting to another provider that offers these minimal services. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to make the changes in cpanel myself to at least utilize the remaining time on our Hostpapa account. Strike 1.
Our volunteer staff member called Hostpapa to figure out how to transfer our domain to a new provider that will charge much less for a simple domain hosting/redirection service. Hostpapa support staff assured her this was not necessary, and that they could provide this service for us without charging us for a full hosting service. Two months later, our website became inaccessible via our domain name.
Strike 2. I called Hostpapa to resolve the problem. The first person determined that the problem was that we hadn't paid our $254 bill for a full hosting service. (the one we had a cancellation email for from two months prior) The second person explained that our account on the server was deleted, and could not be reinstated without a supervisor's approval.
I indicated that I would be transferring the domain to another provider and needed to understand the procedure for doing so. They couldn't engage tech support until the original volunteer that set us up added my email to the authorized email list. After having my email added, hours later another support agent assured me that we would have "911" priority, and that our newly engaged domain provider's needs would be met in short order.
Over 24 hours later, after follow up calls at 2, 3, 4, 14, 20, and 22 hours past the time when we were given 911 priority, we finally had what we needed to ensure our website was available again. We were one of two 911 priority calls at the 14 hour mark. Strikes 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ... The lack of understanding from the support staff of the capabilities of their own systems, the poor response time to resolve critical problems caused by their actions, and their unwillingness to provide a reasonable solution for a loyal customer of several years, earns Hostpapa this terrible review.
till now its the 2nd month on hostpapa my micro niches sites are hosted on it.Still not facing any such problem a
except a bit of hazy customer reviews
as it promise 99.99% uptime rate it also provides that
overall conclusion we can say its quite good. hope it improve it support
I'm using HostPapa few years ago, and indicate my observations about the service I use.
- Economic Plans, zero problems with web falls, and good support. Before hiring a hosting, I care about the support and response time offered. I was surprised because they always solve all my doubts, I have learned some things since it also has a forum where you guide to lighten the load web, images and achieve a good SEO of your website.
On the issue of making Backup, enter the cpanel, I moved something, and my site was offline, I asked for help to support the minute they restored my website, I did not lose visitors because everything solved soon. I started with the most economical plan and now climbed above certain levels. I have 2 sites with them and continue to use the service, my new projects without hesitation be there. I hope I have still help
I am new to building a website and web hosting and I joined Host Papa in February 2016 after researching online for best offers. I found their price for a three year plan was very reasonable for what was included. Once I joined they sent out a welcome email with all the important information I would need to log in.
I have flagged that email and refer to it quite often. The first time I logged in to the C panel they had some step by step video's to make the whole process easier to learn. Now I have a website up and running Bellabogo.com.
When I had to transfer my domain from another provider I was able to figure out how to do that by just reading the instructions available on the site. I have had to contact support on two other occasions when I was getting a 404 error on one of my pages. I sent in a support ticket and by the next morning someone was contacting me to get more information to help me, then my problem was fixed. I would highly recommend HostPapa for quality web hosting at a reasonable price.
I've used other hosts in the past 15 years, but I needed one based in Canada for some Business sites. I signed up for the 3-year plan, which meant that after 30 days they had my money no matter what. Needless to say, things worked swimmingly in the first 30 days.
By day 31 however, it was a different story. Slow load times, server errors, server time-outs, database errors, you name it, I had it. So, I contacted support.
The support was as slow and unreliable as the hosting was. Naturally everything that was going wrong was my fault. I hadn't optimized my site (caching and Cloudflare notwithstanding, I guess); my database wasn't optimized (yeah, it was), there was never anything wrong at their end.
They checked all the logs, and everything was working perfectly. Yes, they used the word "perfectly" when my site monitoring service (and a number of clients) had reported a 7-hour (yep, Seven hours) down time when all my sites were unreachable. I guess their definition of "perfectly" differs somewhat from the one that everyone else uses.
I then, foolishly, tried to buy an SSL certificate from them. The first time around they issued it for the wrong domain entirely. Amazingly, support responded to that ticket in a mere 3 days and gave me a refund.
I then, even more foolishly, tried again. Yes, they issued it for the right domain, but it wasn't a certificate, as advertised, it was a voucher for a certificate. The certificate wasn't created until the voucher was activated.
And where, I hear you asking, can that voucher be activated? Certainly not on the host that the relevant website is on, so I guess they expect me to move my flagship site from a working host to their crappy service. We're currently sitting at 10 days of ignored support tickets (except to merge the second one I created after the first had been ignored for a full week).
The phone is just an answering machine that essentially says, "Leave a message and we'll call back. No really, you can trust us!". Is anyone surprised that I'm still waiting in vain for a response there, too?
If I could give a rating lower than 1 star, I would. My advice to anyone considering HostPapa is, "Run away! Run away Very fast And don't look back!!"
I moved from godaddy > SiteGround > HostGator > hostpapa and all I can say is I'm appalled... I only went with them as the reviews were pretty good on here. Firstly, the site states a "Free Transfer", once I purchased hosting and tried to initiate this free transfer (and failed to find anything).
I waited for a long time for live chat support for them to tell me I had to do my website transfer myself, after getting quite mad the chat representative said they would do it, but I had to e-mail them the file. I then went on to tell them my site was 30gb+ and I can't email a file that large. Eventually she said to e-mail support and they would sort it, but apon e-mail support they said the same thing - they wouldn't do it.
I had to! Anyways, long story short I paid someone on fiverr to transfer my site. After I finally changed my namesevers to point to their hosting I am horrified to find my site throwing up error after error and taking some 20 seconds to load a page.
I contacted support who were trying to tell me it was optimisation issues and it was due to my website (and their advice was to spend more money hiring a developer ....) which worked Perfectly and loaded in less than 2 seconds on my old hosting. Beforehand I had contacted godaddy (who is in charge of my domain) and they said it was a hosting issue due to very slow and old servers. I will be moving immediately to another hosting company!!
I have hosted a number of domains on HostPapa. I moved one of them because it was constantly being hacked, with the hackers being able to replace all of my site even though I had specifically set directories and files as read only. I decided to move a second site when they wanted to more than double the cost of hosting.
I attempted to cancel the site but all my attempts to do so have been ignored by the support group. I have raised numerous tickets with the support, billing and sales groups. Where I have got a response it is obviously a standard script.
Many of the tickets have either been ignored or closed without response. In some cases the tickets have simply been removed from the queue, so it appears that they never existed. Needless to say I will be moving other sites from HostPapa as soon as possible.
I have one pack hosting on hostpapa, and after a few months using,I decided to stay with HostPapa. It's the best web host I've had and has everything I need. It's dependable and the customer support (only used it once so far) was quick and knowledgeable.
Every time I have had to call in to Host Papa due to my limited knowledge, there has been someone to talk to and walk me through what I needed to do. I really appreciate talking to a human person with their support department.
I have been using HostPapa for close to 6 years now. My website has never experienced any downtime and is always fast and the customer service is always friendly and helpful. I would not think of switching hosting providers. They have been the best hosting provider I have ever used and I recommend them to everyone I talk to about web hosting.
I have been hosting my company's joomla website on HostPapa for 4 years. It is definitely the best value for my buck. I have had no downtime in all those years.
I now host a couple of other sites on my account as well - one as a way of sponsoring a concert series. The support has been fantastic. When comparing to other hosts - their package only included one email for a domain - with HostPapa I can create as many emails as I want for unlimited space.
As I've updated my site over the years the support has walked me through various steps. I plan to stay with HostPapa!
I needed a web host for my blog, and decided to check out hostpapa. I chose them because they have better rates, and offer more than other host sites that I looked into. I am completely satisfied with their service.
I was especially impressed by the 24 hour customer service. This was my first time using a web host and I had a few minor questions. Customer Service thoroughly helped me with my issues and gave me a better understanding of their services.
Hostpapa is a professional company, and I recommend anyone who wants to take their blog up a notch to try them out. They are truly dependable.
I used HostPapa for my Travel blog/website and I must say I am extremely impressed with the outcome. I have managed to create a wonderfully attractive website using the tools that HostPapa provided for me. I had their customer service phone me up when I signed up and they took me through everything from building the website to certain designs that tend to be successful and some to avoid as they usually end up with little to no traffic.
The uptime is brilliant and my website has been up for 100% of the time since I put it online. The webhosting size is great and I can fit all my information about places of the world, photos and videos. It can host some good traffic amounts too.
My fairly popular website is continuing to grow and though the help of the HostPapa service I have been taking it to the next level. I recommended this to my brother too as he was also wanting a website that can hold a lot of content on it. He too has had a brilliant time and his website is now up and flourishing on the internet. I can only speak from what I know but 2 successful websites out of 2 makes for a strong hosting company and one that is professional and reliable.
I've setup many websites with HostPapa. The uptime and price were the main consideration. HostPapa gives us good value for our money.
I've only had to contact the help desk a few times - the tickets were promptly answered. I highly recommend this host.
Using HostPapa has been a fantastic experience for my Business and me, I can't afford to have any downtime doing what I do and HostPapa is very reliable and always up. I have never had any problems with my website being down and having a reliable web host is important. I have used other web hosts in the past and have had some bad experiences with my sites going down and staying down for an unlimited amount of time.
The tools here at HostPapa are very easy to use and they offer more tools than my former provider. There customer service is top notch here and I don't have to wait forever to speak to an agent when I have questions. I do have to say that I have had very little to asks since the control panel is simple to use.
I highly recommend HostPapa to use for any business big or small, you will be satisfied. One other thing that I love about them is my website loads quickly and their servers do not lag and cause my site to load slowly. My experience so far has been great and I see myself using HostPapa for a very long time, forever as long as I am in business.
They were good as long as the going is good but once the site was compromised (Google thought it was an attack site) there was completely no response from them no matter how many times I tried to contact them. I had to redirect my dnsname to another site and abandon usage. I decided not to renew the contract with them.
One of the worst customer service experiences of web hosting companies in my experience. Sad to say, I will not be going back to them.
* What do you wish you'd known before becoming a customer? The speed (not as fast as I'd like)
* How have they handled your support queries? They are very quick in replying
* What level of technical expertise do their customers need?
Hostpapa Is great for the beginners
* How have HostPapa handled any problems? Received tips on improving own website
* What kind of customer is this host suitable for? Personal websites & Very small companies (with simple websites)
* Would you recommend HostPapa to friends?
Only if they have little money
Hostpapa has many good features but I have found my own website (Joomla CMS enabled) performing slowly and unfortunately was forced to look around for a faster performing host provider after only being with them less than a month! I have also used IXwebhosting for a few years but their systems seem to be out of date and slowly leaving them, been with 2globalmart for a few years too and their package was no longer attractive so I left them, recently tried Rochen which is fast but expensive (received immediate refund - great people there) and I have now just signed up to try out a Jumpline VDS solution... fingers crossed.
Very useful tip from me: Do host checks by testing out their own site and one of their customers especially on a package that you are interested in, perhaps by using a free online tools. e.g. http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/
and if necessary do a world wide ping test to check if the hosts web site data packets deliver okay around the earth!
Please note most host providers are generally very good and the saying 'you get what you pay for' is very very true. Also think of out of the box questions to ask e.g.
What file size upload limits do you impose? Hostpapa currently is 32MB, Rochen is 50MB..... it can be an inconvenience as I did a website backup zipping to a little over 200mb and I unexpected found restoring a site was a real unnecessary problem - I did find a temporary work around after tearing some hairs out!
Good luck in finding the right provider! And a big thank you to 'whoishostingthis' website for a place where I can post my comments :-)
I am in the process of trying to sign up to Hostpapa in New Zealand and am having a very frustrating time. I signed up twice, because when I went to read the terms and conditions/privacy t&c's the site dropped. So I re entered my information and was sent an email straight away stating that I owed them $0 due on 22 May.
I figured this was wrong as the website said I owed $84 so I attempted to send a support ticket to advise them of the problem. This came up on my computer as an untrusted site and 'do not connect'. So I tried to ring them on their 0800 number and had to leave a message.
I have not yet heard back from them. I am now on 'hold' with their online chat service, I've been number one in the queue for about 40 minutes now and still waiting. My alarm bells are going off as they have my credit card number. All in all a very time consuming and frustrating experience that I want sorted out.
HI! I don't recommend them. I have signed up with them 2 years (as min).
Uploaded my simple webshop (WooCommerce) to their hosting with less than 20 product, no variation, not even prices yet. Each click took me 2-3 mins to react and they didn't give any service or help to improve it. I wanted to cancel the subscription and they canceled my account, but no refund, so now I am with no service, no refund, no website and they even don't even want to help me.
Only answer "you should upgrade to dedicated server". The worst experience in Australia for sure
HostPapa is my first foray into running my own website. Been with them for over 3 years and have never had to call support, because there has not been a problem as yet. I have not noticed any downtime either.
They made managing my website quite easy using the Control Panel and I did not need to be a techie to make things happen. Thank you guys and I have been recommending you to my friends.
I have been using hostpapa since beginning 2016. Their service is brilliant, who solved my issue right on spots. Hostpapa also setup dedicated 0800 number service New Zealand local customers available 24/7/365.
All payment currency is NZD. I am very happy on their services. Hostpapa has got very powerful Cpanel as well as fast connection.
I would advise others to use Hostpapa service instead of NZ local hosting services. Hostpapa offers the best value for money. Thanks
I hope someone reads this before posting,,, I do like hostpapa I do like the fact that you can talk to someone,, and price is reasonable. but,, everything I tried got screwed up.... migration was difficult,,, changing DNS go even worse...
my requests for assistance were answered OK but seems they were upgraded and took a day or so to get answers,,, I went along time with out my domain/site/blog working,, and found that,,, ( with help from another hosting company that hostpapa was actually redirecting my most important domain/site/blog back to the hosting company I was trying to get away from,, I had proof in a file and support said, no you just need to add it as a subdomain,, I did not want to explain or argue with tech support,, as they are tech support after all,,
so moving everything away,,, I am sure not everyone will experience what I did, but I will tell you they were helpful and prompt in closing my hosting account but now the one domain I purchased from them is now blocked,,,,, Jezz it never seems to end. hope you experience is better than mine,, I will not finish this and get on the phone and see why my domain is not working.... best to all. Corky
I have hosted my website on Hostpapa for a year now and I have to say they are phenomenal with respect to pricing, transparency of information, level and quality of service and ensuring my website is up 100%, problem free (so far). And every time I have called in with a problem, which is not often, I get the most helpful and patient representatives who do not seem to mind answering my million-and-one questions in clear non-tech speak. This kind of service is important to me and is why I remain with HostPapa and recommend them others.
The one area where I feel strongly that they could do better is on their email software. Among my many frustrations, the software only provides rudimentary functions, do not allow for Html editing, do not sync up with other systems, and is awkward to use at best. This can be difficult to adjust to after you have been using Outlook for a long time.
I urge HostPapa to upgrade their email software and if they do, I will be an ever so thankful, loyal customer! Thank you in advance.
I have been using HostPapa for over two years now, and I never had any issue with anything, or any negative experience. I've been with two or three hosting companies before switching to HostPapa, and I always had either some bandwidth problem, storage problem or uptime issues. And I can say that in the years I've been with HostPapa, they are definitely keeping their uptime at 99.9%!
Therefore I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a reliable host at a reasonable price. The only tickets I had with HostPapa were technical questions that were all responded in less than an hour. The quickest answer I received to my ticket was 9 seconds - and it actually solved my problem (Thank you Santosh Sag, of the support team).
The downside of HostPapa is the price of their domain name. I'm not sure why but it's a little pricier than other hosting companies. But as a workaround, you could buy a domain name from another company and simply point it to your host on HostPapa.
With 4 sites being hosted on HostPapa since it started, I stuck with it through a few early turbulent years. HostPapa has matured into a stable, reliable partner in my online presence. Tech support folks are patient and knowledgeable.
The online Chat option always gets me a clear answer to any questions. Very satisfied!
I have been with HostPapa for just over three years now. Their initial offering to me of web hosting, domain registration and unlimited storage and throughput on my family website for $3.99 per month seemed extremely competitive and fair. But from the beginning I found that their customer service was difficult to access (no phone service) and seemingly inept at dealing with routine problems.
Nevertheless I put up with this because of the low price and the unlimited services. When renewal time came last July I was shocked that they now wanted 6.99 per month for the same services - an almost doubling of the price for renewal. But it seemed too difficult to change horses in mid-stream so I signed on for another 3 years.
Only afterwards did I discover that they were still offering the same package of services for $3.99 to new customers. When I brought this to their attention they refused my request for a price adjustment because they pointed out that their policies clearly stated that renewal would not be at any promotional rate then on offer to new clients. In addition, through a miscommunication on their part, when I asked them to update my home address on my domain registration they did so on all three registrant, administrator and manager addresses and then told me that since I was now the administrator and not them I would have to pay for the annual registration that was supposed to be included as part of my package.
There was no flexibility or apparent concern for the customer on their part in these matters. I cannot cancel my service because they have another written policy that they will not prorate the amount paid up to the time of cancellation but will keep the entire three years of fees. I am left with no alternative than to not renew my service at the end of the second three year term in 2017, which of course is what I will do. Meantime I am stuck with a company which seemingly has no moral or ethical standards and cares little for its existing customers.
I have been using HostPapa now for two years, and compared to the previous hosting company - which shall remain unnamed - HostPapa is a dream. They are very available for any kind of assistance, and they are excellent at walking me through their systems. They are very inexpensive, consistent, and have provided me with safe web hosting and email services.
Ease of use, availability, and price would normally have me happy, but the fact that they are also good corporate citizens and committed to environmental leadership in their Business model and, ahem, Canadian are both big-deal reasons for my loyalty to them. Proof that home-grown companies can compete, show a triple bottom line, and do well.
I have been with hostpapa for over 8 years. Up until about 6 months ago I had very little to complain about, other than the website speeds being a little slow. Then I lost over 3 months of work across 4 different websites (under one hostpapa hosting account).
All websites were reset back over 3 months including the backups. Despite asking for explanations and assurances that this would not happen again, I got nothing - not even an acknowledgement of any problem their end. Their stock response was 'well it is working now', and use the backups to restore (that had also been reset).
Over the past six months I have had so many 'timeouts' where my sites have been offline, and such little support or even response from Hostpapa that I have now changed my hosting company. I moved two hosting packages - both were experiencing downtime every single day (around 10 different domains/websites all experiencing the same problems). A charitable organisation that went with hostpapa (on my recommendation), has also had the same time-out problems and a really slow loading website.
On Friday we experienced a 500 server error - and after numerous amounts of telephone calls and support tickets, we still have a a site that is not working. They basically say sort it out yourself - this is despite sometimes being completely locked out of the cpanel, with time-outs on any processes that we run from cpanel, such as table repair and optimization. Pretty much everything we do comes up against a brick wall.
The telephone line says 'well all we can do is....' and some of the telephone support team are rude and condesending. The email support is a joke, with emails arriving at a 24 hour period with pretty much the same response - sort it out yourself! We are in the process of migrating to another hosting company, as we have no other way of resolving our 500 server error this end, and they refuse to do any work their end, but even this is meeting a brick wall as we are locked out of the control panel.
We are at a point of probably rebuilding the whole site again as we have no way around their total lack of co-operation or support. Basically if you have a slightly larger than normal site, or if you have more than a handful of websites on your hosting package - prepare for problems; problems that they will not help you with. They will not budge when it comes to PHP memory allocation, PHP time limits, sending more than 50 emails in one hour, and lots of other settings that are too low.
They are not unlimited, and watch out if you go over their Hidden limits. Poor poor poor Hostpapa !!!
I would recommend HostPapa to commercial customers who want reliability efficiency and easy management of their domain / website. I have been dealing with other host in the past and they could not offer the bandwidth Hostpapa is givving me. Also, HostPapa is really affordable and is my choice for our community fire department website. Only time I needed their support is setting up my domain and website and they fulfilled my expectation with their great support.
I used HostPapa for about half a year, and didn't have many issues. As I started having more visitors, I realized I was having a strange issue where sometimes my website just wouldn't load, but it would eventually load if you kept refreshing the page. I've now had to open 3 support tickets about this as they haven't resolved the issue, but they keep closing the tickets when they tell me they're "looking into it." Now I can't access my site or its control panel at all, and it seems to have started right after I reported the issue for the second time, so I really have no idea what's going on. I'm very disappointed and will definitely be switching hosts.
Great to use hostpapa, Very easy to reach, we have been using them for nearly 4 years. I am totally unfamiliar to any website building when I started, but this website is so easy, I can easily change anything I needed to and update anything to the website. Never feel it is too difficult to manage.
When I have problems, just need to give them a call or send them email, they will solve the problem really quickly. Feel really confident with the service they provide. Recommend to lots of friends doing small Business or doing personal website.
Last year, i was researching various provides and found HostPapa and decided to use their services. Even for a beginner like myself their cPanel was easy to use and was filled with features for both beginners and advanced users. Their support team helped me get started too and were very friendly.
I have never had any noticable downtimes or glitches and i am more than happy with their service which they provide for such a low price. I will recommend hostpapa to everyone.
I have been with Hostpapa for approx 5+ years and in all that time I have only had one tech that frustrated me! I have opened many tickets and called in and the support and response time have been excellent! I think what they offer is the best around and the price is great!
I searched around and found them and like I said was only frustrated with one tech so that says a lot for this company I think! I am not technically inclined and don't understand tech jargon and they have the patience with me to help me understand and fix the problem quickly for me. I haven't had many problems just not understanding tech things and they responded very timely.
Just last week for instance the tech I got went above and beyond to help me when my security company told me they couldn't backup my site and to contact Hostpapa . Well it was not Hostpapa 's mistake but their's however it was Hostpapa 's tech that went all the way with me to make sure it was fixed and working properly. How many other companies would do that I wonder!
Not many, as they just give you the information and tell you to go fix it! I an extremely pleased with all aspects of Hostpapa 's service and will be staying with them! If you are looking for an honest, reliable company that actually cares about its clients then for sure you want Hostpapa .
For us in Canada it is right here close by and there is one in the states as well I am told. Their customer service is great as well! So look no further just get yourself over to Hostpapa and see what they are able to do for you!
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain! Go on give Hostpapa a try, you will not be disappointed!
HostPapa are the second company to host my blog, and the difference compared to my last host (Webcity) could not be more stark. I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to websites, and when I changed my host I made a cack-handed job at backing up my wordpress-based blog and the access was broken from the get go (my fault). I submitted a ticket, which was answered within the hour (the only two tickets I submitted to my last host were never answered, let alone resolved), and after a few simple questions the tech went above and beyond fixing my issue.
I coul not be happier with Hostpapa for their service. Really recommended for people like me who need hand-holding.
I have been had website online form the mid 1990's with various web hosting companies, both in the USA and Australia. Just over 2 years ago, I came across HostPapa. I had my doubts about this Web Hosting Business, but afte reading about them, I decided to give them a go with a new site I was developing.
Well thats all history, I have found HostPapa to be very good, are better than the other companies I was using. I have now moved all of my sites to HostPapa for hosting. HostPapa offer fast hosting, easy web based menu options, and great back up and support. I would recommend then to anyone.
Hi, I must admit that I found a discount promotional code for hostpapa, and planned to only use it for a year and then move over to a local hosting company, since being from South Africa the exchange rate is 16:1 against. To cut a long story short, I had such a good experience - as in totally uneventful, that I have just renewed for another year at the full price, support was very prompt and efficient during the only time that I had an issue with trying to install a SSL certificate. The bottom line is that the service just works, no problems ever and the only way that I can show my endorsement for hostpappa.com is to say that I am willing to pay 16 times more for the service that they offer. Robert
I have been using HostPapa's services for about 10 years to host my blog Kananaskis blog.com and during that time I have created subdomains and a couple of databases without any problems. I can't remember the last time the site was down—it's happened so infrequently. I have only had to contact them twice for support and on both occasions the problem was resolved quickly by their friendly tech support folks. What more can you ask from a service provider?
Hostpapa is great value for money, they offer reliable hosting service with little cost. They also give free domain for one year and a website builder to make the website easy. Top of my list for value for money
I got a deal of $12 for a 12 month hosting in hostpapa,
So I felt that in such price I can't lose, and thought I'll probably use it for development and testing. I'm using their hosting 3 months, and I can say it's a production quality, I'm planning to move my website there soon,
since my current hosting (for production) is not as reliable as Hostpapa. The only two downsides are the support which is located in India, and the outdated version of php in their servers (which is 5.4). However, with all those disadvantage, Hostpapa is a very good choice
I had a hostpapa acccount, and applied to have the domain transferred to another provider. The fact that my application online to transfer the only domain I had with them, did not constitute a written request to terminate services, can be argued, but that is not my point. At the end of the contract time, I received notification they were going to charge my card for renewal, but not for the entry level service that I had previously, but a much increased amount.
Over £100 more. I emailed them to complain and was told, tough! I asked for a further complaint route, and if they were regulated by anyone.
I was told they could not help me further. I emailed again with the same request as well as contact details for the owner/chief executive and email was ignored. Not answered!
Apart from the "we don't care" school of customer service they quite obviously follow, my concern is how many small businesses just continue to pay inflated bills without checking. If this is not illegal, it is certainly immoral, and this "green" service provider is not worth considering
Hostpapa Web Hosting rocks/sucks is great due to the stability of bandwidth and speed especially for small businessmen like me. It also provides a good care and good support to customers. Thank you indeed for your supports
I have had my site hosted by Hostpapa for 4 years. In that time, I've made mistakes and support calls. Everytime I have asked, they have helped me out, often going above and beyond to make sure I was OK and could do what I needed to do.
The pricing is very fair, beating a lot of prices I've seen advertised by others. I don't understand why people would want to pay more for the same service with less support. I trust Hostpapa and frequently recommend them to others.
I am running several websites on HostPapa and I'm extremely satisfied with their service. Some of the are WordPress The uptime, speed and stability are flawless. I own both complicated websites that contain tons of banners and information, and simple websites with only photos, and everything runs smooth and fast.
The email system is working great as well. You will get reasonable number of emails with each hosting you buy. On top of that their customer service is top nudge.
They respond very fast and are eager to solve every issue you have. I work on the Internet for over 5 years and I'm HostPapa customer for the last year and I will definitely be their customer for a long, long time. This is one of the best hosting services that you can find on the Internet.
After three years as a freelance journalist, I decided to take the plunge and start my own targeted blog/website. I've branded myself as such and was ready to show the world what I could do, but knew next to nothing about web hosting. To be honest, I had to teach myself to learn WordPress (which I love, by the way) but the rest was foreign to me.
I was referred to HostPapa by one of my clients, someone who successfully operates three domains, all of which are hosted through them. The price was more affordable than other places I'd looked at so I decided to give it a shot. Turns out, this was a great decision for many reasons.
-Easy to get started
-Great site support
-Great selection on manageable add-ons
It can sometimes take a minute to get through to HostPapa support, but once you do you're met with friendly, knowledgeable people who definitely have your website's best interest at heart. I know there are some negative reviews about them, but honestly? I've never had an issue with either my site or service. They've been there when I needed them the most, and even though I've got little experience with web hosts (other than HostPapa), I'm definitely giving my recommendation for others.
Hostpapa is definitely a world class support company. From the day I have signed up with Hostpapa they have been nothing but good to me. We have had hurdles however.
Anytime there is an issue with Hostpapa there is usually a problem with my server. In most cases this is attributed to load. I know that I'm working in a shared hosting environment and this is usually what the problem is, as this is a problem with any host I have been with.
However, I do have to say, Hostpapa has some of the best client service around. I was moved at one point to a different server as I was having slow speeds and have not had a problem since. As a long time client of Hostpapa, I have noticed a change in service in the last 1 - 2 years. It went from terrible to world class.
HostPapa is great. I searched the web before I chose Host Papa and found it to be very popular. HostPapa was easy to get set up with and supplies you with reminders if you need to update your settings etc, so that your website is found more easily through searches. HostPapa is the only Hosting sight that I use or will be using in the foreseeable future.
As a small Business web designer, I have recommended Host Papa to many clients as the hosting company of choice. All have hosted with them and I host with them as well. 5-star service for sure! Great hosting rates and package additions too. I highly recommend Host Papa to anyone looking for a secure, reliable host.
I've been with HostPapa for over 5 years and highly recommend them for anyone looking for a company that will actually talk to you and work to understand your needs. I moved to HostPapa after a very frustrating, and costly experience with another hosting company, and have never looked back. I was paying for backup services only to find out after the site got hacked that the backup was being done to the same harddrive on the same computer as the rest of my data.
On further investigation, this was not the only thing I was paying for but not really getting. The sad truth is, it is very difficult sometimes to know what you are and are not getting until its too late. I looked all over for a replacement hosting company and HostPapa has been great.
- The support is friendly and quick.
- If they don't support something they are up front and tell me (very important!)
- When I have unusual requests I never get the "that's not our policy" speech.
They are always helpful and work with me to find a solution with them or appropriate hooks to an alternate method.
- The price is very good. The only downside was that I had to move my video hosting to another site, but this is understandable given the low price I pay for my hosting. Even with this, they worked with me through the transition to keep my Business running while I found a more suitable solution. Two thumbs up for HostPapa.
I have been with Hostpapa for 2 years without any problems. The support team are prompt and all questions are answered in a timely fashion. I am very pleased with this service and would and have recommended Hostpapa.
I have two accounts with host papa. The first I have had for several years, has several domains and sub domains. The configuration was extremely easy to do.
In the several years that I have been with host papa, I do not recall any downtime. There have been some glitches to do with making multiple calls to a webpage (loading 15 assets at a time, these were resolved very quickly. The cPanel is packed with feature for beginners and advanced users alike.
For those wanting to host something simple like a wordpress, droople or joomla site this is dead easy. The support team will help a complete novice get started. For those more advanced users setting up SSL certificates, creating MySQL databases and so on is a very basing process.
You can access everything that you could need as an administrator and have a platform capable of virtually anything in terms of lamp development. And I think that the prices are reasonable too.
I have been with HostPapa for several years and in that time I have never had a problem. For the price you can't beat the value. Amazing storage space, zero downtime and tons of useful features.
I'm always kept in the loop when new technology is added and I have full control over everything. The scripts work flawlessly and upgrading is simple. Speed is never an issue and it's super easy to check web stats and email - any time!
I have been using HostPapa for over 5 years, Their uptime is fantastic and they have on the rare occasions I have had a problem replied and resolved any issue quicker than some of my more local hosting companies. The running costs might not be the cheapest out there but when you look at what you get compared to the cheaper ones you really do get value for you money. and to put the icing on the cake they use 100% Green energy which I think that alone is worth paying a little extra for. If you're looking for a great and reliable hosting company for Your Site look no further than Hostpapa.
I changed to them recently after much suffering from Crazy Domains who are if you are contemplating using them an absolute Disaster and a Must avoid. I have found HP efficient in terms of answering queries all be if i know we have gone off line for a short period of time a couple of times but by and large they have been OK and Certainly made Crazy Domains look even worse. What i have found that has frustrated me despite many discussions is what seems their inability to stop or filter spam mail?
Do others have the same issue or for that matter have any suggestions as to how to stop it as i is getting out of hand? Regards
We set up an account with them because we understand they are canadian and we are under some pressure to move from american to canadian hosts. We set up 1 account to host a wordpress driven site. Their hosting was horrible, the load times were almost always slow and the site was functionally down for 2-3 days.
It made us look really bad in the eyes of our client. Their support amounts to shoulder shrugs and canned answers. They acknowledged that they were having server issues but offered no help or compensation of any kind. We've since elected to try another canadian host.
I'll get help from them in no time. I have made some mistake on my backup service, and didn't realize it until they email me and explained what happened to my account and explained what to do to fix it and walk me through to fix my problem. I found they are really helpful.
HostPapa is a Canadian based web hosting. It provides the fast and quality hosting. There are some issues in the support but that is not the big matter.
This hosting provides one of the best Uptime and that is really important for any website. As if you want to start the micro niche site then it will be a good chance for you. It is affordable with all the important features in it.
C-Panel is easy to use and fast. No hang and no stuck point in making the site. I hope it will Help you !
I think what HostPapa offers is the best around and the price is great! I searched around and read a lot of reviews before made my decision. I am newbie, not a tech-savvy and they have the patience to understand and fix the problem quickly for me.
The problem started when my web developer upgrade my website platform. Well it was not HostPapa;'s mistake but their tech support went all the way to make sure it was fixed and working well - two thumb up! As I know, most of tech staff will just give you the information and tell you to fix it yourself.
I am very pleased with their support (in fact beyond their support scope) and will be staying with them! Go on give Hostpapa a try, you will not be disappointed!
Enjoyed my interaction with the host papa team. The training videos are also very good. I am now up and running and it is great.
Thanks for all the support. The cpanel is working great and I have a team from all over the world working on my site. I have recommended the service already.
Keep up the good. Work.
Hostpapa is fine if you have a simple website that needs no maintenance.it's cheap and is shared. they do not offer shell access for advanced users, which is a real pain in the ass. Their support is crappy, and they are understaffed so if you have issues, you go to the bottom of the list.
In addition, all support personel are instructed to read from a script that upsells you. They are not state of the art on any front and they do not offer any proactive services of any kind. If you do Business on the web, avoid them. if all you want is a blog for personal reasons, they're cheap.
Their technical support is very poor, there are lots of promises but they just don't deliver. With statements such as "Yes it will be fine, we will do all of it for you" turn out to be down time of 2 days. You very quickly lose faith.
I started off by loving hostpapa but now am moving away very quickly. They will be great for simple websites but you try and move to a more complex site or multiple sites then don't bother.
First of all, I have been with Hostpapa for 5 years now. The first 3 years have been good. I had a recent issue of my site being hacked.
I was trying to move to a VPS server to solve this issue. Its been 5 days and my issue is still not solved. The billing department would take 3 days to send a bill.
Regarding support I had to give a star. I would have given negative points if they have it. They don't seems to understand how important your Business is to you.
They would not expedite what so ever. Could be because they have a lot of complaints. If you are even considering to get a hosting service, please please please avoid them.
They might be cheaper but its not worth in the long run. Stay away. Good luck folks.
I run several websites using services such as Wix, godaddy and since a few weeks hostpapa. Out of the three options mentioned Hostpapa is the worst and I can only recommend not to use it. Let's start with the positive.
Unlimited email addresses as a big Plus if you need it. But that's about it. Support: Not really a support.
You start an online chat and it says you're first in line and even after one hour, you don't get into a chat. I'm actually waiting for someone to answer right now while I'm writing. I've been waiting for about 30 min now and it still says I'm first in line.
Phone support: You just can't reach anyone or if you can, they hang up if the case is too complicated. I've had so many issues with the website already. It won't publish, it won't save, it changes without you doing anything, and the list goes on and on.
They are using the Yola site builder and I knew that one sucks and if I had known that this is the site builder they're using I wouldn't have signed up. If you want to use the yola builder, just sign up with yola - it's cheaper. Anyway, Hostpapa is a company to avoid especially if you want to use with a site builder. There is a lot better out there.
HostPapa does not have good support. Doesn't matter if you call, email, online chat, or start a ticket. Usually wait 5 to 24 hours for support. There server went down quite often and so we moved our website hosting to another company, after being with them for 3 months.
I have used Host Papa for the last 5 years and they have been great. I broke my site a couple of times and they helped me to get it up and running within a couple of days. I have never had any downtime. I do web design as a hobby and recommend all my clients to use HostPapa.
Their software and support sites and uptime are so good, I rarely have to call them or access tech support. When I do (once or twice many eons ago) they were very helpful. Plus, I never I have to worry about exceeding any limits.
They have a lot of software I can try out. It's fun to try, and I'll probably use some of it later. It's nice to know extra features are there even if I'm not using them right now. Great work!
To Whom it may concern
I have been a Host Papa customer for about 4 years now. I have gone through a few learning cycles trying to figure out the ins and outs of web sites and the lingo. Your help centre has always been prompt and very courteous when assisting me through the issues I was faced with.
I highly recommend Host Papa as a web service provider. Sincerely,

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. We have been trying to transfer to a new host, and transfer the domain from Hostpapa. They waited 9 days to send the auth code to us, and made us cancel the account before they would start the process.
Now, because we are canceled and can't access our account, we can't change the nameservers to point to the new site. They have been unresponsive, we even tried waiting on hold for over an hour. The staff are unaware of what they are talking about, and have made this whole process a nightmare.
While all this has been going on, our Business site has been down. I hope that everyone reads the reviews on this site and never has to use this company. They should be put out of business.
Hostpapa is the best web host on the planet. I have been using them for years without any issues. I don't believe some of these negative reviews, I think they are put there by the competition. I plan on putting a new website up using Wordpress and I know that Hostpapa has lots of help videos and such to help me out.
support is pathetic...world class is a joke and spam
the live chat have no idea, point you to the email,
I would describe the phone staff best as rude/sleepy, certainly not helpful
Email staff - hopeless, ask 3 simple, clear questions
get half an answer to 1. took me over 20 emails to get 3 problems solved...a joke. everyone...stay away!
In three years as a HostPapa customer, my site has only been down once – and that was last week, for maybe 15 minutes. The best thing? They let me know what the issue was and when it would be resolved.
Then they beat their own estimate. Now that's intelligent customer service. Brilliant.
Finding a web hosting company that really does put customers first is so rare – and that's why I love HostPapa. They don't just talk the talk.
HostPapa makes it easy – to set up Your Site, to make it look good, to include all the features I wanted. That's it! Perfect!
After encountering coding problems with my personal website it went offline. Not having the experience or coding knowledge to rectify the problem I contacted HostPapa. Their response was very quick and they rectified the problem for me.
Without their help my website would still be offline now. In dealing with me they were courteous and friendly. I would wholeheartedly recommend their services.
I think the HostPapa website is very well set up. It is easy to navigate and it has very clear and comprehensive instructions, easy to understand even for a computer illiterate. I am very please with the prompt, courteous and convenient service provided by the technicians, who are very knowledgeable and friendly.
I was facing a renewal with another hosting firm and primarily due to the cost differential between the Canadian and US dollar I decided to look about before doing the renewal of my contract. I am glad I did! I looked at several providers but picked HostPapa for a couple of reasons.
First, the price, a great offer for a three year commitment, secondly as a. CA site I was billed in Canadian dollars so the worry about exchange rates was out of the picture and thirdly the feature set was as good as what I was getting with my old provider, I lost nothing from that perspective. So really it was a no-brainer!
HostPapa is going to be my on-line home for the foreseeable future. I was impressed by their online support, both the chat service and the ticket service were fast and accurate and were very helpful even though the change over of all three of my domain was happening on the January 1 weekend.
I have been in the web design Business since the early days of 1996. I'll admit that financial concerns about the disparity between the the US and Canadian dollar was what initially had me do a search for a new Canadian Hosting provider. I was working with a new client and as I googled for reliable alternatives to US web hosting I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were a number of options available that I had not considered.
Among them I saw that HostPapa being ranked among the top available and when I went to their site I saw an unbelievable introductory offer for the first three years that was certainly worth exploring. I signed my client up and did a number of initial tests for web streaming video media to confirm that HostPapa was up to snuff. Everything seemed to come up faster and snappier than I was accustomed to, even considering I was exploring their most basic hosting package, FTP was lightning fast and overall it was a noticeable improvement over services I had been using, mostly located in California.
In time as the Canadian dollar regrettably went down further (2015) I decided to move my personal websites over to HostPapa and opened a another hosting account. As I traditionally run a number of different website domains under a single account, I was pleased to see that that option was available unlimited in their basic Business plan and opted for that package. Although I made an initial mistake and set up the account under my existing main domain name, customer support at Hostpapa was quick to fix the problem and I was able to change the main account domain to a new one after I signed up.It is complicated to explain further but I recommend when moving from one host to another to register the new host with a different main account domain, it allows some extra cross comparison of performance while you still have the old service up and running.
I will say that security at HostPapa was the first thing that confronted me with a personal phone call to verify my signup as my IP address is quite a distance from my residence and they caught the anomaly and wanted verification. At first one can react to security checks as an annoyance but I realised it was important to them to confirm that I was who I said I was and ultimately I appreciated this as a sign that I had chosen wisely. Since joining HostPapa customer service has been pleasant and friendly and everyone I have been in contact with knows the business and has been very helpful.
All my personal websites are now migrated over to my HostPapa account and while I realise all my eggs are in one basket, I am confident that should something go wrong with the main account, it will likely be fixed and back up and running in short order. I am now recommending that all my clients, particularly in Canada consider availing themselves of this highly affordable, local and professional web hosting option. It is rare that fair prices actually reflect such excellent service and performance.
I am hoping HostPapa is here for the long haul. It is a five star service as many have said.
As a web designer, I have recommended Host Papa to my clients when choosing a web hosting company. I have been using HostPapa for a number of years for hosting multiple websites and am very satisfied with their level of service and low costs. I like supporting Canadian based businesses and appreciate that the company is powered by renewable green energy.
Their online support is helpful, friendly and courteous. I usually find the wait period for HostPapa support to be reasonably short. A recent issue resulted in a ticket number and a tech support representative who was prepared to go that “extra mile”.
Thank you! I will continue to recommend HostPapa to my clients as a company that provides great website solutions.
Used HostPapa for my blog and I absolutely love it. The customer service is wonderful, they helped me from the very get go in setting up my site and making sure I completely understood everything that needed to be done. They made it really easy to host my first site and walked me step by step in doing it, and I couldn't be happier with the overall experience.
The people with the company really want their customers to be happy and satisfied to stick with them for the long-term and that is exactly what I plan on doing. The site is really fast as well, several of my regular readers have commented me on that.
I like to use a Canadian provider for my website, and they have been generally easy to use and make changes on my site.
I have been using HostPapa for many years. They offer complete hosting solution for very reasonable price. their support center is very efficient and accessible.
I particularly like the way their CPanel is build. They also offer third party solution deployment through Softaculous and it works like a charm. thank you!
I've had a good experience with hostpapa as was with a previous company and moved to hostpapa due to issues with the previous provider. In terms of hosting the instructions are easy to use and is good value however I would prefer that all emails were more integrated with outlook so that you can use all the benefits of outlook and the options to upgrade are costly.
