I’ve been a hostzilla customer for at least five years. For the most part, in that time period, I had good uptime. The features were really good.

Customer service ranged from really good to assuming I was incompetent, and suggesting I try basic things that I had already tried before submitting a ticket. In the last few months, however, my experience has gone from acceptable to horrible. It started with them not answering support tickets.

Then I started experiencing more downtime than uptime. Now, all my sites have been down since thanksgiving, and it’s almost Christmas (bad time of year for a website to be down). The customer service website is also offline.

Their sales page and blog are still fully functional, though, and they were able to bill me for a domain name. I’ve also noticed that someone is still maintaining their Facebook page, because they deleted my posts twice, and then turned off the ability to post. At this point, all I want is to get my data to transfer to a new host. I put a lot of work into those websites, and I don’t want to have to start over from scratch.

  • Money-back guarantee
  • Same level of support for all accounts
  • Many unlimited* options
  • CPA plans
*When hosts describe anything as “unlimited,” it is typically boundless except in cases of abuse. A user may be charged a penalty or be required to subscribe to a more robust package if they are overburdening the servers.

  • No live tech support by phone or chat
  • Limited flexibility, no scalable plans
  • No dedicated servers

The Verdict

Those looking for reliable, affordable hosting options tailor-made for Internet marketing will be happy with what HostZilla has to offer. You won’t find round-the-clock live support, but you can access it during business hours. Plans aren’t scalable on demand, but they all include most popular features. If you’re looking to build an Internet marketing site on a budget, HostZilla probably has just what you’re looking for.
